Three terms are used in the USA to describe higher education (HE) programs involving learning through employment in industry: (1) cooperative extension; (2) cooperative education; (3) internship An expert committee of business intern supervisors representing the university’s five business majors agreed to a list of ten career preparation skills: (1) reliability; (2) consistency of performance; (3) eagerness to learn new skills; (4) timeliness; (5) effectively prioritizing tasks; (6) demonstrating initiative/self-motivation; (7) exhibiting ethical behavior; (8) accepting criticism constructively; (9) commitment to quality work; (10) exhibiting professional behavior and demeanor. At the beginning of a career, experiential education plays a important role in elevating prospects of employment candidates. Undergraduates with internship/placement experience are perceived to be better prepared and more marketable to employers. Internship is a six to eight weeks working experience in any organization. The purpose behind doing an internship is to get familiar with a professional working environment. Often students do internships during there vacations so as to gain experience in their field of interest. Students studying engineering, computer science, textiles or business management; they are required to perform at least an internship so as to receive degree from their respective institutions. The purpose of writing this essay is to share my wonderful working experience as an internee at Spyglass Winery. The world is filled with different kinds of people who can learn information in different ways. Many people can learn simply through being taught in a traditional classroom with the help from textbooks. Of course, there are many other ways to learn new material. However, I strongly feel that actually observing work and seeing all the angles of work being performed can be more beneficial to a person. Internships can help people or students see and learn what they could not in a traditional class setting. They can also give students a better understanding of what their future profession might involve. It is very difficult to learn concepts until a person is able to see or experience them for his or herself. I chose to undergo an internship at a chiropractic clinic because chiropractic is the profession that I am striving to reach in my future.

Currently, I am a sophomore studying Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Typically, internships are professional experiences that students participate in to gain professional skills and experiences. In this particular experience at Accounting Firm X I did in fact gain substantial professional skill while participating in new and challenging experiences. Internships allow in- class material to come to life in a practical manner. My internship did do this but not in a way that I had planned.
