The Oklahoma City Bombing would be considered the worst terrorist attack on America prior to the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. Just outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, on April 19th, 1995 a truck exploded, killing 168 people. 19 of those 168 being children. The explosion caused damage to 300 surrounding buildings. Murrah Federal Building, which was an office complex in Oklahoma City, was bombed and 168 people were killed. Timothy McVeigh, the subject of my paper, was behind the bombings, and later executed.
I chose the 1995 Murrah Building Bombing to assess. Born in Oklahoma City, raised in Texas, I will never forget how I found

Abstract: Society is affected every day by many different kinds of sports. These sports often govern society's way of life. People all over the nation turn their TVs to sporting events, such as golf, during the weekends. Scott Stossel states that "more than six million Americans enjoy watching golf on the weekends." Parents use sports as a teaching tool for their children. Kids learn teamwork and discipline from team sports programs and sports have also helped many students with their grades. Kids who want to compete in school sports are taught to keep their grades up or they won't be able to play, but the greedy coaches and schools often look around grades to keep their "star athletes" in the games. Adults have
The way that America influenced Australian sport accelerated due to the new communications that became available such as pay TV and the internet. This enabled more widespread and frequent up to date broadcasts of American sport in Australian homes. There are many scholars that say in secondary sources that because new communications enabled more widespread broadcasting and the amount of money that went into the broadcasting different sports in Australian culture, it was the television stations that began to dictate the time of day that games were played. For example, football matches were traditionally played on Saturday afternoons. In the 1990s, however, rugby league and AFL matches were scheduled on Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and sometimes even on Monday nights. This is what maximised the potential television audience and allowed more games to be broadcast. The media coverage in these influencing countries also led to increased rates of interest in the sports that were shown, such as basketball which had then led to it becoming the fastest growing sport in Australia. Broadcasting on television soon became a major source of income for most sports played here in Australia as television stations had paid large amounts of money to get the rights to broadcast a particular sport on their station. This also led to overseas merchandising and advertising, which meant that companies from around the world could pay to have their products displayed as advertising during a sporting match. Surveys that were conducted later into the decade showed that teen boys recognised famous sports person Michael Jordan over any other sports person. Along with this, when America had started to add cheerleaders, mascots, other ‘Americanised’ glitz and glamour and merchandise to their sporting
There has been speculation that the bombing of the federal building was to demonstrate the anti-government feelings over the 1993 government raid of the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco Texas. Both McVeigh and Nichols were once sited at the compound in Waco and were openly supporting the other Branch Davidians. The bombing occurred exactly two years to the day after the compound burned to the ground killing 80 men, women, and children after a 51-day standoff between the Branch Davidians and the FBI. The bombing definitely put the spotlight on other groups with anti-government sentiments.
Modern sports has evolved and taken pieces of culture from many different decades throughout American history, but it is clear that the 1920’s out of all decades had the biggest impact on sports overall. The 1920’s was the Golden Age for the growth of sports because this time period included the need for escapism, racism in sports was at a high, and the nation was currently in economic prosperity.
On April 19th, 1995 a homemade bomb made of a concoction of agricultural fertilizer, fuel, and other dangerous chemicals was left in a truck parked outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City. At 9:02 in the morning, it’s blast damaged over 300 buildings surrounding the vehicle and even flattened a third of the federal building. (Strom, 2015) The bomb took the lives of 168 people, including 19 children. It was found that two men, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Lynn Nichols were the ones who planted the device. Both men were found to be associated with a radical militia movement that sought revenge for a siege in Waco, Texas two years prior. The siege killed 82 Branch Davidians, of whom, multiple were related to the militia movement.

These sports caught almost everyone's attention on game days. People tried to be like the players and be as good as them, that pushed people to do better at athletic things that made them healthier. Sports like baseball, football, and boxing all provided role models that changed people’s lives in the 1960’s.

Many people rely on the media for news or sports coverage but they don’t realize that the media may influence people’s beliefs or way of behaving.
