There is a major heroin epidemic in the United States, and most of it is imported from Mexico. We need to keep the drugs out of our county and away from our youth. Police and detectives are working hard to stop drug use, but what good is it if the drugs are coming from a different country, where we have no control over? Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are involved in some sort of crime in the United States, and 25 percent of the jailed population are illegal in the United States. That means that taxpayers are paying for illegal immigrants to live in a jail cell.
The 1960s was a period of change in America. Civil rights movements were at the forefront of domestic culture, protests against racial discrimination took a main role, but seemingly everyone was fighting for equal rights of some kind. Among these, were liberal, sometimes radical peace movements and intertwined with these movements came the concept of “free love.” People became more liberal about sexuality and the way they viewed other people’s sex lives. This culture of free love remained fairly strong through the 1970s, but when the AIDS crisis became a concern in the early 1980s, people panicked, and the liberty that people had in the 1960s and 70s seemed to disappear.
Their are so many people who use drugs that are sent to jail, in which they do not get any help, they will come out and still have an addiction. Once they get out of jail they will repeat the same offenses over and over. Also, the people being sent to jail for drug use is highly racist. If you look at the numbers between people of darker color being sent to jail for drug use and the percentage of white people who are being sent to jail for drug use, people of color are sent to jail more than whites, and that is not right everyone with a drug addiction should be sent to rehab and not jail or prison.
Politicians are sometimes easy to dislike. Their flaws are often aired publicly for the entire world to see, and many people generally distrust politicians based on this information. But even if you don't particularly like any of the candidates, do you really know them? And should it matter whether you like them or not? Perhaps a politician's stance on issues important to you is more important than whether or not they are likeable. Even if it's choosing the lesser of two or more evils in your eyes, voting is still an important way for you to voice your opinion about the subjects you care about most.
In addition, a vast majority of our population requesting services or are in need of services are immigrants. Though it may appear that the government demonstrates concern for the well-being of immigrants and other vulnerable populations, I believe many groups are manipulated by their supposed good intent. According to Jansson, “Vulnerable populations need a welfare state, moreover, because they are more likely to experience poverty exists disproportionately, for example, among single women with children, persons of color, and person with mental or physical challenges. If no governmental safety net programs existed, many members of these groups would not even be able to meet their survival needs, such as food, medical care, income and housing” (Jansson, 2009, p.5). My personal opinion is the government automatically assumes that the individuals in vulnerable populations chose their way of life without making an effort to advance themselves. However, assumptions should not be made as we cannot determine all vulnerable groups to encounter the same ordeal, which led them to their circumstances. For example, one individual may have come from another country and is trying to assimilate to their new environment. However, it is difficult for them as they have
The sexual behaviors religion deems moral, the levels of scientific understanding in sexual matters and what the media deems sexualy ideal all profoudly influence how a society view and behave with regards to sexuality. For example, if religion being a primary influence in a society deems sexualy activity to only be appropriate between a monogamous, married couple, and should only be talked about between those couples, then it’s likely individuals within that society will hold very conservative views on sex. Additionally, in a society with poor scientific understanding of human sexual behaviour and function, will be a perfect breeding ground for urban myths and misinformation, such as the idea that a woman’s hymen breaks when she loses her virginity. Conversely in a society where media is the primary influencer, of the society promotes and propagates objectifying views of women’s body, it’s more likely that the majority view of sex in that society is that it’s something that’s done by a man to a women, and that giving sex to a man is (or is one of several) a woman’s primary purpose.
Many people want it to stay that way and want the country to grow, not fall to pieces. In order for that to happen, people will have to want to work and want to make their own way. Arizona was one of the states to establish help for those who looked for a welfare check to provide them with drugs. In 2009, they looked to drug test those that were suspected to be drug users only to give them help and put them back on their feet. “Identifying individuals in need of substance abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a problem that affects the whole of society, not just individuals who are abusing substances. Mandatory drug testing helps identify individuals who can benefit from substance abuse treatment so they can receive help and will, according to drug testing advocates, save money in the long-term” (The Pros, 2 ). This allowed them to become a productive member of society again. Even though it takes a large portion of money to do these tests, it saves the country money afterwards, making it a worthy
I think that now that marriage equality is passed and happening that more people will come out with their opinions and beliefs instead of hiding and that will shift the political morals as well. A majority of the young adult population and younger are seeing more and more things in the media that incorporate the LGBTQ community and portray that it is okay to be different. Someone once told me that they hated that they couldn’t turn the television of for their children without seeing some kind of LGBTQ relationship on it. I believe that now kids do not have to live in fear in Texas due to this change and they eventually be open minded about some things that previous generations were so closeminded
One thing that is common on morals is those regarding to gender, usually men and women have different morals regarding to sex. I believe everyone has their own set of morals, especially regarding to sex because it is such a personal subject. Studies show that men typically have more sexual partners than women. In today 's society, men who have multiple sexual relationships are looked up to or "praised". Women on the other hand, are shamed for having too many sexual partners because society views them as having little to no morals. Men and women tend to lie about their previous relationships in order to protect their current ones. Men including myself have a tendency to over exaggerate these numbers while women under exaggerate. Many double standards come into play regarding this topic because many of these standards are mostly sided with men making them seem unfair to some women.
One other thing society canít do is simply hand out money or food stamps to the families of these children. Who knows where this money is going or what it is being used for? The food stamps could be intended to feed a baby, but instead they could be used to buy food or items that a child will never see. It is also all to common for parents living in poverty or on the streets to use what money they get for alcohol or cigarettes. Instead of handing out money to these people, they should be put i n treatment programs that could help them fight their addictions. This would be of great benefit to their children now and in the future. Not all mothers and fathers in need of assistance are going to be irresponsible with what they are given, but we ca n not take the chance of having the money wasted and the children neglected. Who wants the money that they worked for going to someone else, so that person does not have to work, yet still gets paid regularly just because they had a baby when they were n ot ready? As I stated before, not all parents living in poverty are irresponsible and many have legitimate reasons for being where they are. But because there are people who will take advantage of the system, we need to watch out for the children of tho se
I believe there is a moral decline in our country and 74 percent of Americans agree with me according to the Cultural and Media Institute. Not only do people feel it is a decline, but the Public Agenda Survey reported that 61 percent of adults are
Today, people are not frequently jailed or housed in mental hospitals For their private views. Unless their actual practices break local laws by violating anothers informed consent or causing harm to the point of death, sexual practices are mostly left to the realm of live-and-let-live. The US is still a recently religiously, and therefore sexually puritanical society, But the fact that our generations motto is “I can do whatever I want”, plus the large community of BDSM lets me believe that the world of vanilla people are actually the deviant ones in our society today.
Morality has been eliminated from typical American life through many factors, thus eliminating the reason this nation first began. James Madison said, "We've staked our future on our
The main source of this code of purity and virtue is the resurgence of Puritanism in the last decades of 18th century (Methodism and Evangelical movement). There was a revival of the old traditions which were very conservative and especially repressed of any sexual behaviour.
My first experience with politics was during the 2008 Presidential election. At that time I felt very strongly for Mitt Romney and was deeply saddened by his defeat. Because of this loss, I vowed to take the powers vested in me by the Constitution to make sure the US does not elect Obama, making the same mistake. He is a mistake because I consider him a failure. He has decreased the value of life for many citizens and ruined America’s healthcare system. I have become educated about current events as well as followed the political campaigns, to which I hope will be evident in the next section.
