Ekido In Tanzan

In the beginning of muddy road we are introduced to two characters who were traveler's named Tanzan and Ekido. Ekido criticizes Tanzan after lifting up someone they met, “a lovely girl in a silk Kimono and sash, unable to cross the interaction” (Zen Parables 465). The main root of his anger was most likely because of jealousy. Ekido is frustrated since, “We monks don’t go near females”, (Zen Parables pg 465) he says that to Tanzan.
