3.El Chapo have not always been a free man. In 1993, EL Chapo was captured and sent to another high maximum security prison in Jalisco, Mexico. Initially, he was placed in a isolated facility until he was able to bribe and threaten the staff to place him with the other inmates. While there, they allowed him to have sex with female prisoners from other institutions, smuggle cocaine through Viagra pills, and treated him like a king (Fusion). Also, he stayed in contact with other extremely powerful drug allies, providing him with money and enforced their power among the guards (Grayson 58). After lawmakers did further investigation on his escape, it has been shown that seventy-one prison officials were receiving regular payments from 'El Chapo' (Morris 254). This continued for eight years (a few days before being extradited to the U.S.) until he decided that it was time for him to escape (Grayson 58). His major influence with his guards, led to them helping hide his body under dirty laundry and smuggling him out of the …show more content…
Just like he was able to use the tunnels to smuggle drugs and weapons, he was able to use it for his escape. Underneath the tub of El Chapo's cell was an 20-by-20 inch hole, which led thirty-two feet underground with an built in ladder (Calderwood). The tunnel was tall enough for him only because it was exactly the same height as him, five feet six inches, and it was thirty inches wide (Calderwood). This tunnel stretched almost a mile away from the prison, ending its location under a newly half built house in Santa Juana (Calderwood). Inside this tunnel, lawmakers found lights and fans, which means there was electricity, a motorcycle which he used to ride from one side of the tunnel to the other, PV ventilation pipes, an oxygen tank, and clothing that El Chapo was wearing
Domestic Abuse can be formatted into a cycle with six steps beginning with abuse, where the abuser initially lashes out and defines their role of power over the abused. The next step is the guilt of the abuser over what actions they had performed to harm the abused. The third step are the excuses that cover up what the abuser has done, excusing their behavior and
With authorities closing in, a firefight with Escobar and his bodyguard, Alvaro de Jesús Agudelo (a.k.a. "El Limón"), ensued. The two fugitives attempted to escape by running across the roofs of adjoining houses to reach a back street, but both were shot and killed by Colombian National Police. Escobar suffered gunshots to the leg and torso, and a fatal gunshot through the ear. Society is torn between who actually fired the final shot into his head, or determined whether this shot was made during the gunfight or as part of a possible execution, and there is wide speculation about the subject. Some of Escobar's the family members believe that he could have committed suicide. His two brothers, Roberto Escobar and Fernando Sánchez Arellano, believe that he shot himself through the ears: "He committed suicide, he did not get killed. During all the years they went after him, he would say to me every day that if he was really cornered without a way out, he would shoot himself through the ears. "Escobar’s death accelerated the demise of the Medellin Cartel and Colombia’s central role in the cocaine
The former General Manuel Noriega (58) was Dictator of Panama from 1983 to 1989 (Rohter, 1992). On or around 1992, General Noriega started serving his sentence of 30 years for eight counts of cocaine trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering [ (Rohter, 1992) ]. The general only served 17 years because of good behavior. According to (Rohter, 1992), Noriega sentenced took him to a place in a Federal Detention Center located in Miami, Florida. This facility usually house federal offenders that are under the United States Marshal Service.
On Oct 8, 2012, a counsellor from Terry Fox Secondary School brought forward concerns of Sally Brown being abused. Mr. Highcliffe reported that he noticed some bruises on Ms. Brown's upper arm and shoulder. When Mr. Highcliffe asked Ms. Brown about these bruises, she replied with a vague story of being involved in a game with her friends and collided with a wall. To investigate, I visited Ms. Brown at her residence and was informed that her parents were away for an overnight prayer vigil at their church. From initial appearances, Ms. Brown presented as depressed and insisted that I leave. I was able to establish a rapport with Ms. Brown and discussed my concerns about her noticeable bruising. Upon agreement, I took Ms. Brown to the emergency ward of the Prince George Hospital where Dr. Rose, examined her arm and shoulder. From Dr. Rose's medical opinion, the bruising did not appear to be consistent with her story of running into a flat surface such as a wall, rather appeared to have been caused by a blow by a heavy instrument. I confirmed with Dr. Rose that he would be willing to testify in court to his findings about the bruises. On return, Ms. Brown told me that she had not been abused by her parents and that she felt safe at home. From further
As Gallo mentions “In a new 48-page federal indictment, U.S. Authorities charge El Chapo and his top lieutenant, Ismael “el mayo” Zambada, with ordering 12 killings and dozens of other acts of violence to promote the Sinaloa cartel’s criminal activities. The two drug kingpins ordered the killings of Mexican law enforcement agents, members of the military, public officials, and rival drug cartel leaders, the indictment alleges”
Recent periods of social progress and development have seen many concepts and constructs receive widespread attention to what can be described as negative behaviours and one concept and area in particular to receive this attention is abuse. Any response to find a solution to a problem whilst remaining effective and appropriate can experience various complications as there can be an inability to provide a clear and detailed definition of what it actually constitutes, provision of evidence that remains compelling and substantial and taking on board the cultural, social and political considerations and factors that are relevant to the society pertinent to the
El Chapo will be charged with multiple charges such as possession of weapons, drug trafficking, and organized crimes; due to the fail attempts of the Mexican authorities keeping El Chapo from escaping authorities. El Chapo has escaped in 2001 by using a laundry cart to escape, and also a underground tunnel back in July of 2015. Mexico decided that El Chapo should be extradited to prevent flaws of attempts in their security. Not only has El Chapo make Mexico look bad but he has gained United States attention of the multiple escapes; they are trying to prevent El Chapo from getting his help from his cartel and people who is on his payroll. Mexican government is trying to prevent the symbol of corruption and how El
In 2001, El Chapo escaped from Mexican prison, 13 years later he was caught by the navy. But that didn’t stop him from trying again, recently three months ago on January 8 of 2016. El Chapo’s planned an escape that was only feasible with the help of an employee of the government or an employee of the prison he was at. Corruption in the government and in other federal branches of Mexico is a common occurrence and the two El Chapo escapes has shined a light in this problem.
The cocaine trafficking network really began to take flight again back in the early 1980’s. Pablo Escobar was one of the main kingpins that created a stable cocaine market within the United States (5). With this new system in place, the price of cocaine could be set as high or low as they wanted. For example, a kilo of cocaine could be sold for a price of $10,000 all the way to $40,000 (10). George Jung was a famous trafficker that worked along with Escobar. He trafficked hundreds of kilograms and earned millions (5). Escobar himself was killed shot and killed in the early
One of Pablo’s childhood dreams was to become a millionair. When he was 26 he exceeded his goal by far when he made a deposit of 100 million Colombian dollars into his account; which would equal million US dollars. Escobar started his cocaine operation in 1975 when he began smuggling cocaine into the US for the first time. Escobar started the Medellin Cartel, it was the first drug cartel ever. Before Escobar there were only a few drug barons.

He would kidnap people and use hostages as bargaining. In 1991 to avoid extradition Escobar made a deal with the Colombian government and turn himself into a prison that he had designed and built himself. The prison was called La Catedral while in jail Escobar continued to run his business. Escobar was allowed to remain in the prison until he started executing members of his organization inside his prison who he thought had betrayed him. When the authorities decided to move Escobar to another prison due to the killings he fled for fear of extradition to the United States. Before long Escobar had become a target marked for death. At first, the investigation began with searches of residence and racnches, which, the results became useless. The US government had a high demanding pressure on the DEA to quickly advance with the investigation. Due to the High-level investigation from the DEA, Mexican law enforcemen officials and Mexican drug traffickers created a plan to lower the high intensity of the investigation. The plan was for the Mexican Federal Judicial Police woud receive a annonimous letter, stating where DEA agent Camarena and Captain Zavala were being held hostage at the Bravo drug gang’s in La Angostura, Michoacan. How ever law enforcement was closing in on Escobar. The U.S. want him to be extradited to the U.S. but Escobar surrendered to the Colombian’s in exchange for a promise not to be extradited to the U.S. He was able to design his own luxurious prison and continued to run his business behind the walls. Fifty new charges were brought against Pablo, including political assassination and mass murder. Escobar confessed to just one shipment of cocaine to Europe. When two men came and told Pablo he was being transferred to a military prison, Pablo would have none of this, and he took out hidden weapons, taking the two men hostage. After a night of negotiations 400 army commandos stormed the jail, but Escobar and his brother, along with many others, were gone. After 16 months on the run, he was finally hunted down by Columbian police with the aid of U.S. technology that recognized Escobar’s voice on a cell phone.
