Zoom! A bolt of red whisks across the street. Nobody had even heard the bolt zoom by. It stops at the stop light and the symbol said Tesla it was an electric car. It didn't even have smoke coming out of the small exhaust pipe. Electric cars are the way of the future because it doesn't hurt living creatures, the environment, and how to help with getting rid over the oil transportation machine. The effects of a gas car are bad, but the human race has still come farther from pollution than a diesel car, but now it is time that we move on to better things. A gas car that is on emits carbon monoxide when it is not completely running, an exhaust pipe emits toxic compound of hydrocarbon, when the fuel burns it makes nitrogen oxygen and particulate …show more content…
The effects of car pollution on plants are catastrophic and if the plants go so does oxygen along with us and any other living thing According to (US Government for fuel). Acid rain can kill trees, destroy the leaves of plants, can infiltrate the soil by making it unsuitable for purposes of nutrition and habitation. Ozone holes in the atmosphere can allow excessive radiation from the sun to enter the Earth causing damage to trees and plants. Ozone in the atmosphere can prevent plant respiration by blocking the openings in leaves and not allowing it to make energy which will stunt plant growth. The cars are also destroying the atmosphere, making the air quality worse and the vehicle fluids are also staining the …show more content…
They're several ways that we can help and stop the pollution of the automobile like instead of driving walk bike or take the bus. Donate to Tesla and help them create a better less expensive electric car according to (Kevin Bullius). W6e can look/create a better fuel for the environment if the human race bands together and tries to make a Conscience effort to try to stop the pollution machines called cars. As the cars manufacturers make cars they destroy the environment affect the human race drastically but there are ways to stop this abomination. This speech has informed the human race about cars and how an electric way is the better and how the electric cars are the way of the future because it doesn't hurt living creatures, the environment, and how to help with getting rid over the oil transportation
Every day, millions of Americans turn on the engines of their cars and drive to school or work. What these people do not realize is that the vehicles they operate greatly pollute the planet. According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent website post, “Environmental Impacts from Automobiles”,
With a declining or no use of cars can result in the reduction of pollution quite tremendously. They can by reducing the greenhouse effect. As the author reports in the article, “In German Suburb Life Goes On Without Care” by Elisabeth Rosenthal, “Passenger cars are responsible for 12 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe… and up to 50 percent in some car-intensive areas in the United States.” Therefore, with cars being a leading factor of greenhouse gas emissions, reducing their usage would have a positive effect on the environment. After days of near-record pollution,
Currently the human race is coming to terms with one of the most monumental problems of its own creation : air and water pollution. The poisoning of the very air we breathe and the water that we drink has become too prolific to ignore any longer. One culprit ? Automobiles. The more smoke we expel from the exhaust pipe, the more we exhaust our environment and poison the air and water that allows us to exist. But what can we do to reduce the amount of pollution we produce ? It’s not like we can just stop driving ,right ? Wouldn’t it have an adverse effect on our productivity or make it harder to get to work ? It’s not like it would make a difference anyway, right ? Well not necessarily, currently there are entire countries banning automobiles
First, cars pollute the environment. In 2012 the EPA reported that a whopping 28% of emissions came from transportation. As it says in the article “Running off the Road”, by Grover Kingsley, “With their largely petroleum based fuel, cars constantly spew carbon monoxide into the air.” We are responsible for the
In this speech I have explored the history where they are today, and what is to come of electric cars. The electric car will get you to where you want to be without polluting the air. As Jay Leno once stated after driving the Tesla electric car, “If this is the future, I’m not that
Chapter 6, “The Burden of History: Expectations Past and Imperfect” from Kirsch’s book, The Electric Vehicle and the Burden of History, focuses on the problem of automobiles in the modern day. Kirsch states that internal combustion engines release greenhouse gasses, which harm the environment. Each individual contributes to air pollution
Electric vehicles are a huge step towards the future of our planet. They don’t require gas and don’t run on fossil fuel, which is a good benefit to the world because fossil fuel is one of the main causes of climate change and global warming. People need to consider purchasing electric vehicles that run on clean energy and not oil. My awareness is to show people that cars that run on fossil fuel are damaging our planet and it could lead to a very catastrophic future. Electric cars are a great solution for this issue and could prevent climate change. We shouldn’t get rid of all the cars and vehicles that runs on gas because most of the world population wouldn’t approve that. If a big percentage of cars worldwide were electric, it would help solve a lot of issues including climate change. Electric cars need to be under reconsideration for society.
One of the many advantages of limiting car use is it’s better for the environment. In Elisabeth Rosenthals “In German Suburbs, Life Goes On Without Cars” she says that cars are responsible for fifty percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. In some places like Paris they have had to temporarily ban the use of cars on certain days to try and reduce the smog in the air because near record pollution caused by cars (Source 2) was becoming such a huge
In 1830 the first electric car was made. It impacted how cars could be made. First generation electric cars paved the way for modern EVs because they can be more efficient, are getting increasingly popular , and more safe. Electric cars are influencing our technology and our economy. Electric’s are helping the world and “Ultimately, all-electric cars will reduce America’s dependence on petroleum” (Bell,11). because our existing oil is running low. Also electric cars are getting noticed now. Unlike in the late 1900s where they are being produced but were too expensive to buy and weren't practical.
Since Henry Ford’s invention of the moving assembly line to mass produce civilian automobiles in 1913, the environment and air that we breathe every day is being ruined and polluted. Though people drive cars around every day with no worries, they still are damaging the world around them with every mile. Car emissions are causing multiple issues with the air and water sources. Harmful gases are being emitted from the cars and are messing up the natural gases already present in our atmosphere. These gases consist of sulfur-based substances and are polluting and contaminating the already present nitrogen oxide and other greenhouse gases up in the atmosphere. These harmful emissions then seep into our blue seas and clear lakes, poisoning the waters and killing the
There is a serious problem facing the world right now. It is air pollution. The number one contributor to this epidemic is automobile emissions. We have all heard of the issues that are involved with air pollution including the depletion of the o-zone layer, the green house effect, and acid rain. The problem has been scoped from every imaginable angle, and now it is time to solve the problem. I propose that each of the ‘Big Three’ (Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler) car manufacturers be required to have 10% of their product line as EV’s By the year 2010. I propose this because it will be the start of cleaner air, EV advancement, and awareness of EV’s and how they work.
Pollutants that are given off through the emissions of automobiles are hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxides, and carbon dioxides. Hydrocarbons emitted by automobiles create smog. Smog can create health problems for people. These problems include lung and respiratory problems. Nitrogen oxides form acid rain that hurts plants, wildlife, and the paint on our cars. Carbon monoxide reduces the flow of oxygen in the bloodstream. Carbon dioxide is a "greenhouse gas" and is a primary factor contributing to global warming.
Most people have felt or took in the air pollutants coming from a car but little did they know what the consequences that smell or the soot may present. The black smoke, and sometimes invisible pollutants, are causing harm all over the earth without people realizing it. Car pollution can cause disruption to human 's health, the environment, and the cities in just a matter of time and in many different ways.
Automobiles are a major producer of greenhouse gas. One gallon of fuel burned puts five pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Let’s say that an average car gets 25 miles to the gallon, and that car has a ten gallon tank. Every time a car gets filled up with gas, another fifty pounds of carbon dioxide have been put back into the atmosphere, and that is just one car. The automobile industry is very important to the world economy, so I am not saying that we should stop making cars, but there are other solutions. The recent trend of hybrid electric cars that get up to fifty miles to the gallon are becoming more popular. Also public transportation is very important. City dwellers that live downtown, do not need to drive their cars to work. Every major city has a form of public transportation that can get anyone around the city, and for that gallon of gas a bus burns the same five pounds reaches the atmosphere, but instead of one
In addition to factory emissions, auto emission pollutants have also been reduced by the use of a tool that has been around for quite some time, the catalytic converter. Because gasoline is not completely utilized upon combustion, many toxic gases are able to escape in the form of exhaust. A catalytic converter is a box-like device that is placed somewhere in the exhaust system between the point of exhaust release from the engine, to the actual release of the exhaust to the environment. A catalytic converter works by transforming harmful gases through a series of chemical reactions to essentially non-harmful gases. Catalytic converters have been proven to be very beneficial in reducing the amount of harmful gases released into the atmosphere.
