1974 Words8 Pages
Background
Throughout the years, vehicles have been an important part of human lives. From steam-powered, diesel-powered and now, electric-powered vehicles. With today’s ever advancing technology, the type of technology used for vehicles are slowly evolving into something that adapts the change that is also happening in our word. This includes climate change, population increase and many more.
Purpose
The purpose of this report is to analyze, compare, and determine the capability of electric-powered vehicles as a replacement for the current diesel-powered vehicles.
Scope
This report will tackle the following question:
Costs
Efficiency
Reliability
Economic Impact
Environmental impact

Battery packs are heavy and take up weight.

Table 5: Features
Energy Efficient
EVs convert about 59%-62% of the electrical energy from the grid to power at the wheels – conventional gasoline vehicles convert about 17%-21% of the energy stored in gasoline to power at the wheels.
Environmental Friendly
EVs emit no tailpipe pollutants, although the power plant producing the electricity may emit them.
Performance Benefits
Electric motors provide quiet, smooth operation and stronger acceleration and require less maintenance than diesel ones.
Reduce Energy Dependence
Electricity is a domestic energy source

Chart 1: Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact Despite the costs savings for electric cars, the environmental impact of electric cars are still being debated. In the first comparison of the two vehicles we shall look at their environmental impacts. while the electric car doesn 't produce any emissions through the tailpipe lets look at how it compare in the way of how electricity is produce in order to fuel the car. In this annually pie chart you see that about fifty percent of the
