Elementary Education Career

I would like to pursue a career in Elementary Education focusing on Kindergarten through second grade. I am going to be the first of my family to achieve a higher level of education after high school. I feel that being born and raised in Mountain Grove has given me values that I want to hold on to for the rest of my life. I have been a nurturing person for as long as I can remember and have strived to be a person that my younger sibling and cousins can look up to in life. I want to be an elementary teacher for many of the following reasons.

           An early education teacher gains a lot of big responsibility. One classroom occupies about 25 children per teacher and that means 25 parents place that teacher responsible for each and every one of their children. Also, teachers endure other responsibilities that some people do not think of like grading test or papers, supervising recess, creating lesson plans, and attending in-service training or meeting. Teachers need to watch what they do and say all the time because they are role models for everyone and everywhere they go. Teachers need good communication skills, because they need to make sure the parents stay involved as much as possible. They also need to know how to listen to others no matter what age they are. Reason and problem solving is another area teachers have to be good at because they need to think under pressure fast when things go wrong. Time and managing themselves remains very important, because it teaches the children how to manage their time and help the schedule run smoothly. Being an elementary teacher means being able to personally grown a connection with your students. Elementary teachers teach the same students the entire year but they teach a variety of subjects. Such as math, reading, writing, social studies, and even science. One good thing about being an elementary teacher is you are able to make the children’s schedule as you want and being to keep them interested in school. Having to make lesson plans and activities may seem like a lot and may even seem stressful, but you have the ability to have the childrens enjoy it. She explained positive parts about being a teacher as being able to do what you love with growing children. As children go through stages of development, it is a good feeling to see what they are going to become in the future. She explains the bond she has with her students as one of the greatest feelings in the world. In early childhood, being their first teacher can have a major impact on how well they are going to do. Being able to create a good well-educated start to education is important. She explained that she wants to be able to educate children in the best way she can because the outcome of seeing them succeed is amazing.

I decided to do Honor Diploma my sophomore year. The requirements that were included were community service hours. Majority of the community service projects I volunteered for included children interaction. After participating in a few carnivals and working with young children, I noticed that I really enjoyed working with children. This led me to start pursuing a degree in elementary education. I focused my Senior Project on elementary education as well so I could look deeper into this field and know what problems I would be facing if I were to continue pursuing this career. Elementary Education, just like other fields, has specific trends, requirements, and technology. Like most teaching positions, elementary education requires only a bachelor’s degree in most states. This paper will explore four different topics:

Imagine going to work every week day to be greeted by a group of young, wonderful children. As a kindergarten and elementary school teacher, I would get to do that. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers educate young children for their bright future. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers are in the career cluster of education and training. Careers in education and training help people in certain areas by teaching or instructing them. In this career, I would get to work with children everyday, and prepare lessons and activities to help my students understand certain concepts better. I love kids, so working with them would bring joy to my job. Also, I could easily provide for myself with a teaching salary. When deciding whether kindergarten and elementary school teacher is the best job for me, I looked at work environment, education and training, important qualities, and salary and job outlook.

The education of young children will always play an important role in society. As children grow into teenagers and eventually adults, they are constantly learning and evolving. If we think in terms of building a house then elementary teachers are in charge of laying the foundation. The foundation of a home always come firsts and helps keep a house standing. Young, impressionable children learn some of their greatest life lessons while in elementary school like learning to share, read, write, count, and most importantly to imagine. It takes a special person to want dedicate their time with sometimes unruly children, yet elementary teachers are happy to develop children in their earliest academic years and encourage children to dream big. Elementary teaching is a great profession because influencing young minds for the better is tremendously rewarding, working in creative space to help students relate more easily can be fun, and the schedule is decent especially with weekends and summers off.

Teachers are mentors, heroes, and role models who inspire children to learn and expand their minds. A teacher and their skills as an educator determine how much their students will learn and the methods in which they are taught.

A teacher is someone extremely important in a child’s life. They can influence their career choices and the development of their attitude towards certain aspects of life purely by the way they teach something or the way they interact with the students.

For one to become a teacher in the United States, there are specific qualifications he or she must acquire prior to starting their career. All primary and secondary education teachers must have a high school diploma. After high school, teachers must get a college or university degree in elementary or secondary education depending on the level that they intend to teach at. A primary

Elementary teachers not only introduce their students to the basic concepts of core subjects, they also help pave the path to each student’s future success. Education to become a teacher is long and tedious, and while the income may not be the highest available, watching students develop a new skill or grow an appreciation for learning can be very rewarding. Because there will always be a need for education, even with the recent budget cuts, teaching jobs will always have to be available somewhere.
