Character Analysis: Elvira Condomine is a presence that is difficult to ignore in Noël Cowards “Blithe Spirit”. Elvira is described as being entirely gray (page 25). This grayness is supposed to extend to her hair, skin, nails, and clothing. However, since I am not allowed to do ‘ghost makeup’ on my face, I will achieve the idea of this “ghostliness” by using the lightest foundation color in the Ben Nye kit, ______________, and apply it all over the face and neck. I will also achieve the idea of Elvira being a ghost by playing with sunken in cheeks. On my face, I think that the light foundation will work well to help create the “ghost-like illusion”, however when I go to create the sunk in cheeks, I will need to be careful that I leave …show more content…
On my face in particular, I am not worried about completing a winged eyeliner because there is space around my eyes to comfortably draw a wing, however I am a bit apprehensive about doing the bow hunter’s lip because of the way my lips are shaped. The final traits of Elvira’s that I wanted to try and bring into this makeup look is her youth (page 45) and how carefree she can be when she’s not regarding Ruth. Elvira’s carefree personality shows throughout the entirety of the script, but perhaps the moment that shows this trait the best is when she goes on to describe playing a game of backgammon with Genghis Khan (page 30). For both I plan on achieving this by adding a slight color to the apples of the cheek to bring even more life into an otherwise dark and dead face. On my own face, as it is easy to find the apples of my cheeks, I think this shouldn’t be too terribly difficult to achieve. Procedure: Base: For the base of this makeup look, I have decided to apply the color ________ because as it is the lightest color in the makeup kit, it will give a ghost-like illusion to the face. I’ve chosen to do this because Elvira is described as being ethereal in appearance, and I wanted to stay away from making her entirely gray as is described on page twenty-five of the script. Next, I will be applying translucent powder to my face to set this base color, as to keep in tune with some of the makeup done
make her white: “Smiling white face. Blond hair in gentle disarray, blue eyes looking at her out
Are you interested in makeup? You’re really good at it or even don't know much about it but want to learn and/or extend your education in the makeup industry? Makeup is like a different type of art. It's amazing how cosmetic products can change the way a person looks, going from no makeup to a gorgeous glam look. Seeing someone's confidence boost up and making them feel even more beautiful is what amazes me.
Professional makeup artist and founder of her own line of cosmetics Bobbi Brown once stated that she “believe[s] that all women are pretty without makeup- but with it, the right makeup can be pretty powerful.” This statement is relevant to all people and says that all women have natural beauty, but with the optional added touch of makeup, their beauty can be even further accentuated. Public figure, Kat Von D encourages women to embrace their most natural selves through her own cosmetic line. The print advertisement of Kat Von D’s “Lock-It Concealer Creme” shows women of all colors, wearing minimal makeup, probably just foundation and concealer, and embracing their natural skin color and their ethnic background with her wide array of shades for each skin shade. Makeup over the years hasn’t always catered to people embracing their natural skin. The origins of foundation makeup lead to some health risks and didn’t accept people for their natural skin tone, Kat Von D’s makeup line consists of solid, well formulated, and successful products, and the influence of social media has impacted the growth of the beauty world for all people.
Wear bold eye shadows with super vivid lip colors. Finish it off with a vibrant cheek color. Deere believes anything goes.
Taking the correct color of blush given by the director, apply the brush gently to both cheeks, also making sure to apply some to the apples of your cheeks. You need to make sure you apply the blush gently because putting on too much will make your cheeks too red. The next step would be to get your eye shadow, also given by your director, and create a smoky eye. The eye shadow will be given by your director because everyone in the group needs to have the same eye makeup. The first step to creating a perfect smoky eye is to take the lightest color and cover both eyelids. Then, take the color that is labeled as second and apply to the lower eyelid. Finally, take the color labeled as third and line the crease with the color. The next step to completing the show choir makeup is eyeliner. Take your eyeliner, pencil or liquid, and create a thin line across the bottom of the eyelid, ending in a wing on both eyes. Do not forget to apply eyeliner to the bottom eyelid as
Additionally, the turquoise is darker in some areas, such as at the tips of her wings and at the sides of her headdress. The design itself incorporates both curved and straight lines. Four sets of two dark repetitive lines decorate the platform upon which she is kneeling. Her arms are stretched out to the side and separate from the rest of her body, attached to the wings directly above them. Her wings are intricately designed, and heavily detailed. The wings themselves can be divided into three distinctive parts. At the top of the wings, closest to her arms, there are several repetitive rows of wavy lines; these lines form a small pattern of circles. From there, the wings are split into two more sections below, however they follow a similar pattern. The line work begins close together on the sides near her body, then move further apart as the wings stretch farther from her. Small, slightly raised triangles protrude to connect the lines and form the individual feathers of the wings. The largest of the feathers are found on the outermost section of the wings, furthest from her body; the feathers in the middle section near the areas made up are wavy lines are smaller in comparison. There is also attention to detail concerning both her hair and face. She is clearly wearing heavy eye makeup, which would have been reminiscent of the kohl ancient Egyptians
While reading this book, one thing that you will see that is a fact about Evyn Linney is that she is a thirteen year old girl that is going through many changes through her life with her new step mother. Another fact about her is that unlike most other people who think talking to the dead is strange, she thinks otherwise. Evyn has spoken to her dead mother, who died in a car crash, every day. I have very strong opinions about Evyn Linney. I believe that she is a girl that does not like change. Evyn demonstrates this when she has negative feelings towards the news that was given to her about her new step mom and moving to Boston. One more opinion that I have about her is that she is very shy. When Evyn moved to her new school she eats her lunch
Virginia Shreves is the protagonist of this book. She has a body that is “larger-than-average” and lives by the so called Fat Girl Conduct. “Ginny” has a very low self esteem and doesn’t believe she is good enough for anything due to her being overweight. “Fat girls don’t get much action.” 1-[16] Virginia has a major crush on Froggy Welch the Fourth. She has the world’s most perfect family, she feels like the black sheep often. “Besides, it 's a Shreves family policy to not talk about our dirty laundry—in public and usually not even in private. It 's sort of like if you don 't discuss it, it didn 't happen.”2-[57]
Exceedingly pale skin was a prerequisite for a courtly beauty. The portraits of the late 16th century all portray their subjects with white, almost translucent complexions, lacking the rosy glow that was soon to become popular. The standard of beauty was a small, rosy mouth, a straight and narrow nose, and wide-set, bright eyes under narrow, arched eyebrows. Women would use drops of belladona in their eyes to achieve the bright sparkle, and outline them with powdered antimony to enhance their size or make them appear more wide-set. Plucked eyebrows were required for a court lady, as was a high brow. A high hairline had for centuries been a sign of the aristocracy. Women would pluck their brow hair back an inch or more to create a fashionably
This chilling ghost story, written by one of Britain’s outstanding writers, Susan Hill, was first published in 1989. It took just 6 weeks over the summer for Hill to produce this masterpiece. The Woman in Black maintains the reader’s attention the whole way through the book, keeping them hooked onto every word. Hill has written it in a very clever way, making the reader feel the greatest sympathy for The Woman in certain parts of the novel, but in other parts she makes the reader feel the complete contrast.
Egyptian women apply pigments made from stibnite and/or galena, and green copper paste from minerals, to their faces for colour and definition, and kohl as a type of eyeliner. They made lip and cheek stain from ground Carmine beetles.
Her makeup is done to enhance features like her cheekbones which have been contoured to highlight their definition, and her lips are red and full which is commonly associated with a sexual appeal, in that men often associate red lips with thoughts of sex or the vagina specifically, consciously or subconsciously. The sexual appeal is also strongly blanketed with the undertones of
She begins the first chapter at a southern university medical center where she is observing a facial anatomy and face- lift refresher course and continues to observe the jobs and process. Theresa whose job is to set up the seminar and places a lavender plastic cloth. (19) Theresa says ¨Lavender was chosen because it is a soothing color” she stated as Mary asked. Yvonne is the lady who cuts off the corpse's head and later was seen by Mary as an unhappy person with her job. Marilena Marignani is the Canadian Surgeon who claims to not have a problem with the heads (25). The Marilenaś primary focus is on plastic
This next step is a bit tricky and may vary by the user. Blush is an essential item to most old women who wear it too heavily and incorrectly. When applying the blush, you must suck in your cheeks to imitate a fish and take the blush brush and lightly apply it to the now-visible cheekbones. If you choose to wear a more odd color like purple or a heavy red, do not apply to much to look like Be Be off the Drew Carrey Show. The eye shadow is the next application to the face. Matching the colors of the eye shadow to the outfit is not as important as the application itself. Lets’ say you have a red party dress on, then you would not wear the same shade as someone who is wearing a lime green t-shirt. Choose your colors wisely, and know that someone will recognize a mismatch if one occurs. Always choose a pattern to your colors; for example: you can put a white directly under the arch of your eyebrow to give some emphasis, then put a light semi-arch under the white to outline the top of your eye for some definition, and then put a light-colored shade under then that would be extremely acceptable. Eyeliner is an optional choice that you may choose to take. If you so choose to apply it, make sure it is applied after the eye shadow so the color can’t fade or look lighter.
“The July Ghost,” another Jamesian story explains a woman who stand too “sensible” to see her own son’s ghost and can only be comforted secondhand through her lodger who, to his consternation is able to see the ghost. Despite a lasting sadness, nevertheless, Byatt admits that in recent years her work has developed an unexpected lightness adding that she has only lately been able to see again properly, after a kind of blind sorrow. She’s drawn to the sparkle of Matisse, the uselessness of cheerfulness. “If one day you regain the sense that these colors and this tension are extraordinarily beautiful, it feels like an incredible gift. The human condition is horrible; all this beauty is extra.”
