As well as cloud computing increases the collaboration between doctors, patient and hospitals. According to Forbes, HIMSS Analytics’ recent survey of cloud computing adoption in healthcare provider organizations found that 83% of IT executives report they are using cloud services today, with SaaS-based applications being the most popular (66.9%) (Columbus, 2014). This research project will provide an overview of the challenges of existing healthcare information system and define how the cloud computing can be the possible solution for healthcare information system. 2. Cloud Computing 2.1 Definition of Cloud Computing A clear and concise definition encompass cloud computing features and functional elements. Many scholars share their views as new computing paradigm which provides a reliable, customized and guaranteed computing dynamic environments for users. According to the definition of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, 2011), “Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction”.
