Hip-Hop belongs to the greatest artist alive: Eminem, and many artists, and fans can back that up for you. Jay-Z spoke about Eminem's album sales, saying it is a travesty that he is the highest-selling rapper of all-time. Statistically, Eminem is the most successful rapper ever, building his foundations with his first record The Slim Shady EP, and its follow up, The Marshall Mathers LP. In fact, it was Eminem's second-place finish finish at the 1997 Rap Olympics that helped land him on Interscope and, eventually, Dr. Dre's radar. Classic albums and unforgettable singles like "Lose Yourself," "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie." For the most successful rapper in the world to be birthed from an underground battle circuit speaks volumes.
“I said the hip hop, Hippie to the hippie, the hip, hip hop, and you don’t stop, a rock it to the bang, bang boogie, say you jump the boogie, to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat.” “Rapper’s Delight” is a song recorded in 1979 by American hip hop trio The Sugarhill Gang. It was the original 12-inch single was 15 minutes of undeniable urban-playboy bragging. While it was not the first single to feature rapping, it is generally considered to be the song that first popularized hip hop in the United States and around the world. “Love, love me do, you know I love you, I’ll always be true, so please, love me do, whoa, love me do.” “Love Me Do” was recorded by The Beatles in 1962. “Love Me Do” an irresistible favorite for lovers of
For any kid that was born in the 1990's, it's rare that you will find a person that doesn't mention Lil Wayne in the greatest of all time conversation. While many older fans seem to have a negative reaction to that claim, it's hard to deny the impact that Wayne has had in hip-hop. Wayne in his career has created the term "bling", made mixtapes a popular trend, and one of the few rappers to sell a million copies in a week without the benefit of streaming. Though Wayne is one of the most influential rappers in history, his career as of late has struggled to rival those of his peers in the "greatest" category. Let me explain.
Tupac Shakur could possibly be the most effective and irresistible of all rappers. What made Tupac (aka 2Pac, or Makaveli) so distinguished and legends was his abundance of talent, his spotlight amiable appearance, and the feeling that he was “real” and expressed himself freely, while backing it up with his actions. But Tupac just didn’t rap he was also a poet which set him apart from other artists and made his life much more than just rap and music. He was a person fighting for change; from having a revolutionary mother, breaking away from poverty through poetry, and even though he was “fed up” he kept his “head up.” Tupac did not whatsoever
Music can rock your world, enlighten your mind and change your perspective. When you think of rap music who comes first to mind? Without hesitation, it must be the self acclaimed best rapper alive, Lil Wayne. He alone can make such statements as “My picture should be in the dictionary next to the definition of definition” (Wayne, “Shoot Me Down”). Lil Wayne is a prominent force in the rap world. His debut Album in 1999, Tha Block is Hot went double platinum upon its release and even his lowest selling album is still certified as gold according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rollingstone Magazine declares “Lil Wayne is one of the most popular — and prolific — recording artists in the world” (Kreps). Top this with
In the early 2000s, artists like Jay-Z and 50 Cent were at the top of the Billboard charts. Their music was focused on the rough gangster side of hip-hop, and at the time, this was all rap was known as. This proves that his rise to fame was much more difficult than it is today. It is hard to imagine changing the course of music today, just because of how many people listen to music today. In West's third album, Graduation, he focused on his confidence, which is a character trait West is best known for.
Tupac Shakur can be considered by some to be the best rapper to ever live. The way he grew up led him to be one of the best hip-hop artist of all time. His entire career he was influencing different groups of people and expanding his music to be more appealing. Tupac was the most influential rapper of all time, and there have been few people who were able to compete with him. Tupac had a lot of hero’s growing up and one of his biggest ones was Dr. Dre. When Pac rapped he talked about things that were in his daily life, people say he “changed the game” by having this style. Tupac died in 1996 and people have been mourning his death ever since, many believe he is still alive because they don’t want to accept the fact that their hero is gone. Tupac Shakur is arguably the best musical artist of all time and it is a shame that we do not have him with us today.
Dre got Eminem more famous than he already was. With some help of Dr. Dre Eminem did the rest of the work by making his album called The Slim Shady LP in early 1999. Eminem not only makes rap music he also makes music for people that are having a hard time with a certain situation. He makes motivational music to influence his fans to not give up and to always thrive for greatness. Eminem has won awards before. He sent a message to his fans that they can accomplish way much more than what they think. The really surprising thing is that not once has Eminem said the n-word in his music. That’s crazy to me because now and days that’s the only thing I hear rappers say. Eminem can be a good role model to teenagers or adults. How does that make him a good role model? Eminem can be a good role model because he started from living in a crack house and his mom hating him to living in a huge house now.

Hip Hop in the most popular genre of music between all African American communities, not just in America, but worldwide. Hip Hop has expanded itself into music, fashion, advertisement, movies, and it’s given many rappers, and those associated with the genre, the chance to influence their communities, societies and their culture in general, but commercial Hip Hop in the U.S. has branded Hip Hop in a negative way. (The Young and The Hip-Hop, Hip Hop Culture Center in Harlem, 2012, Web, Oct. 27, 2014) This is all due to the negative imagery and negative lyrics like the term nigga, negative implications of Hip Hop include exploiting black adolescent girls, promoting unhealthy lifestyles, and implying that the open use of the word nigga is not harmful.
