Emma Watson: A Pioneer In 21st Century Women’s Rights Emma Watson is an actress, model, humanitarian, and activist who is famous throughout the world. She is most widely recognized for her role in the Harry Potter series, where she played a young witch named Hermione Granger. Born Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson in Paris, France on April 15th, 1991 to parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. The family lived in Paris for the first five years of Emma’s life, her parents divorced when she was five, and Emma moved back to Oxfordshire, England with her Mother and Brother. Watson attended the Stagecoach Theatre Arts school at Oxford. There she engaged in classes about singing, acting, and dancing. She participated in school plays and poetry competitions. Furthermore, in 1814 she opened up the Middlebury Female Seminary in her home; with this, she was able to show that women had the ability to learn subjects that were deemed suitable for men.
