This information I really need to know because if their teams are good and competitive like me then it’s the best fit for me. Same goes for the location of the college/ university I choose. Clearly, you can tell it can’t be too far from my family or friends I have a part of my life now. Since Emory University is all the way in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, it’s way out of my requirements of the location. The farthest I would leave is probably in the mid-western of the country. Now the athletic teams at Emory University are at NCAA Division III level. Which this means they feature athletes who receive no financial aid related to their athletic skills. Emory has won 23 Division III national championships. Clearly, after reading and searching this information it means Emory University has a strongly competitive sports program up their
What was once a barren area full of trees and grass was soon a bustling city with over 30,000 people. Buildings and houses were around every corner with signs hanging up everywhere. Many of these signs were secret messages to the residents of Oak Ridge to keep what they saw, heard, and did there a secret. This entire city was built faster than any other and it was all for one reason; to build the most destructive weapon in the world. The atomic bomb.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of 1837, the first higher education institution for African Americans was founded on February 25th given the name Institute for Colored Youth (originally the African Institute). After changing its name again to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and moving to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, it continues as the oldest predominantly African American school of higher learning. The institute was founded by Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who donated 10,000 dollars to establish a school that would educate young African American male and females the skills needed to become more competitive in the job market (Conyers, 1990). The school taught basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, as well as agriculture and mechanics. Humphreys envisioned the institute to train people of color to become teachers who would further instruct more young men and
To conclude, Miami Dade College offers innumerable opportunities, not only to its valued students, but also to its employees. Miami Dade College is a family of change makers and enthusiasts who always aim for greatness. Miami Dade has been the catalyst in my synthesis as a competitive student who refuses to stand still and watch innovation from a distance. This school has taught me to embrace change and adapt to quickly changing situations, since that is what constitutes life. My life has been a chain of events that lead to bigger events, and my stay in the college has been the biggest event that culminated in the fusion of a hardworking, perseverant, competitive, indebted young person with the right tools to flourish. Clemson University has a high acceptance rate of 63.28 percent. Specific high school credits are required for acceptance. These include two elective, four english, three second-language, three history, three math, and three science lab credits. There are many cases where students are accepted with scores way below the average for the school. A student was accepted with a 2.5 grade point average and a 1300 Scholastic Aptitude Test score. This is because Clemson does consider the rigor of some high school courses.
At Brewton-Parker College, the campuses community is quite small. I cannot decide if it is a good thing that everyone knows each other. Because the school’s population is not quite as high as a big university, everyone knows everyone’s business. No matter what someone does, good or bad, it gets out, but for me the size in beneficial. The less people there are, the less chance I have of getting distracted. I love how small the classes are, too, because my teachers actually knows who I am. Also, when I need help with what we’re learning or I just have a simple question, I can easily ask my teacher, and he or she can help me better understand what is going on. The teachers here, at Brewton-Parker College, are kind and beyond willing to help me, no matter how long it takes; help is always there when I need it. For instance, the library has become my best friend. I like how I can go and have my own table to get a good amount of work done, and the books are such a useful resource for
It accepts students with an SAT score range of 860-1083 and an ACT range of 18-23. WTAMU recommends a High School GPA but it is not required, my current GPA places me as the salutatorian giving me a much better chance of attending my preferred college. I have a good chance of attending a college of my choice so I’m not sure if I should try to attend a college with stricter standing.
The average ACT score to be accepted to UGA ranges from 26-31 (“Compare Colleges”), and the average at Vanderbilt ranges from 32-35 (“Compare Colleges”). My ACT composite score is 31, but I have only taken it once and plan to raise my score. I believe that I will have an ACT score within or above the ranges for both UGA and Vanderbilt. In addition to looking at ACT scores, UGA and Vanderbilt look at GPA, course rigor, and a holistic view of the student to determine admission (“Applying to Vanderbilt”; “First-Year Applicants”). My cumulative high school GPA is 4.41 and by the end of my junior year I will have taken six AP classes, so I feel that I will have a good chance of being accepted at both of these colleges.
The Ohio State University (OSU) is my second college choice. Being a Buckeye has been a dream of mine since I knew what college was, but with the research I have done, I do not like the size or location of the college, however OSU does offer a really good athletic training program and that's what interests me most about the college. College is not cheap or easy but it is doable. Tuition for OSU is $11,285 per semester (collegecalc.org). With a larger college there is going to be a larger enrollment number. According to (osu.edu) there is an average of 50,000 students enrolled at OSU. Having a large variety of choices in majors is convenient. A total of 175 majors are offered at OSU (osu.edu).The recommended ACT score ranges from 26-30 (osu.edu). Scholarships and financial aid are both offered at OSU. The scholarships offered at OSU are various types of merit scholarships awarded to those students who qualify (osu.edu).Financial aid at OSU is like other universities ,they have grants loans and work study( osu.edu).Like Ohio University , OSU offers extracurricular known as intramural sports and many other programs. Although it is not my first choice if I get the chance I would become a Buckeye.
Throughout high school, I worked my very best to keep my grades up, be accepted into the National Honor Society, and to graduate with a 3.8 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. I will be the first person in my family to attend any type of college. So, I can proudly say that I have been accepted into the George C. Wallace Community College of Dothan, Alabama. I am attending WCC in
