The purpose of the Leading within Organization module is to examine the most influential theories and approaches to organizational leadership to gain a better understanding of what it takes for a person to be efficient and successful in that role. Through various self-assessment tools; course work and class discussions, I gained valuable insight on the leadership strengths I possess, as well as, blind spots and areas for improvement. Reflecting on what I have learned in class has motivated me to develop a personal leadership strategy. A personal leadership strategy, or PLS, is a plan of action for acquiring and mastering those basic skills.
In order to make significant, long-lasting improvement, my action plan will consist of several fundamental components. The first component of the action plan is intended to evaluate the results of all the personal assessments that I have taken throughout the course. Second, will be to reflect on the truthful evaluation of my leadership strengths and find ways to develop my weaknesses. Lastly, address incorporate major concepts of my emotional intelligence appraisal to use as the framework for setting goals and developing key strategies for improvement. In the course of this module, several personality assessments were conducted, they were Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI); Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI); Emotional Intelligence Appraisal (E.I).
