Employment initiation is a demanding task for the developing countries like Bangladesh. Since it’s population is growing and the size of the economy is relatively small, employment creation has become a key factor for the overall development of the country. However, the national economic planning and development discourse of our country put much more emphasis on economic growth than the employment of workers. In national plans, the government formulates strategies and policies for development of different sectors of the economy and set targets of growth for the sectors - agriculture, industry, services, etc. Nevertheless, poverty reduction is one of the major objectives of the development plan and economic growth does not necessarily reduce poverty unless the growth is people focused. Employment is the key for generating income for the worker and for the household to which the worker belongs. The higher is the employment rate, the lower is the rate of poverty and thus overall economic development of the country can be generated. Moreover, a pro-poor growth cannot be achieved unless we put people in the center place of our planning, ensure full employment of workers, and a reasonable growth in earnings for them. The same is the case for “inclusive development”, a development process that provides opportunity to everyone in production activities, and makes sure that every members or sections of the society is benefitted from the outcome of growth. Since it’s independence
Bangladesh are not nearly as strong, and their economic strengths pale in comparison to Australia’s. Australia are blessed in regards to resources and they are geographically close to one of the largest growing regions of the world, Asia. Australia’s economy is also incredibly resilient, Australia being one of only three countries not to record a period of economic contraction since data begun being recorded in 1991. The only real economic strength of Bangladesh, on the other hand, is that countries like China, Japan and Australia are beginning to outsource labor to Bangladesh, and this gives work to Bangladeshi citizens and brings money into the

From a perilous beginning, Bangladesh has attained notable advancements in economic and social development in about four decades. Since it won its independent in 1971 following a bloody war, many, in the international community were doubtful about the country’s long-term economic sustainability. Some observers predicted a state of continuing aid dependency, while others believed if a country with such enormous and innumerable development problems as Bangladesh could make strides in development, then possibly other developing countries could as

In this environment, we see further development in livelihood, most likely keeping on running in front of development in the work power, with the goal that unemployment will proceed on a descending pattern.

In certain circumstances it can be positive economic growth leading to reduction in poverty. In other situations it can be negative economic growth leading to increase in poverty. Income inequality and poverty and are issues affecting a majority of people around the different parts of the globe. These issues exist and are increasingly becoming a major concern in both developing and developed countries. Income inequality varies especially by region, education and social standing and hence increasingly widening for so many years. In addition, a large group of people in the world have the inability to access high-quality education, shelter, food, clothing, and basic medicine. In the global economy, issues of poverty has for some time been at the centre of developmental goal of nations. The poor nations are eager to come out of poverty; the rich nations are evolving welfare strategies to improve the quality of life of their people. Poverty has been defined in many ways by several scholars, but what seems to be a general consensus is that poverty is a multidimensional phenomenon. According to (Narayan and Petesch 2002) Poverty is regarded as lack of financial capability to obtain basic need of life such as food, cloth, shelter as well as lack of access to education, health care and security. While some school of thought mirror poverty from absolute perspective and conclude that it is possible to
Women in Bangladesh have had a long history of exploitation and have faced discrimination due to their gender. Bangladeshi women came to the international attention in the form of cheap and docile labour. Traditionally, the idea of separate spheres, where men are the breadwinners and women look after the household, comprised the typical Bangladeshi household. Due to the impact of globalization, the economic stability of the country has been severely destroyed and has forced many women to work for longer hours that seem not enough to let the ends meet. Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) is an agency for empowerment of women in Bangladesh and states that the current trend of globalization in Bangladesh, has an exploitative nature which is extreme to women in the society. Rural women have been working quite long in the agricultural sector, but with the commercialization of the agricultural sector, many women have migrated to the city centers such as Dhaka and working for garment or other industries for minimum wage. Women have a limited scope of economic development in a Bangladeshi society and are paid less than the men, due to the socio-political structure, as well as their lack of education, which is governed by the patriarchal ideology. Given that,

According to the report of the Commission on Growth and Development, persistent, determined focus on inclusive long-term growth by governments is one of the ingredients of a successful growth strategy. Yet, there is limited analytic work integrating the literature on growth and productive employment. 5 The term ‘shared growth’ can be misunderstood as implying a focus on income distribution schemes, which is why inclusive growth is preferred. 6 Source: Growing Unequal? Downsizing, restructuring, rightsizing, even a term as obscure as census readjustment has been used to describe the plague that has been affecting corporate America for years and has left many of its hardest working employees without work. In the year 2001 we had nearly 1.8 million jub cuts, that’s almost three times as much as the year 2000(Matthew Benz). In the 1990's, one million managers of American corporations with salaries over $40,000 also lost their jobs. In total, Fortune 500 companies have eliminated 4.4 million positions since 1979 including the 65,000 positions cut in February of 2002 (Ellen Florian). Although this downsizing of companies can have many reasons behind it and cannot be

The net outcome of interactions among these five elements would be the expected reduction in transitory and chronic poverty on a sustained basis.
