The professional meeting I attended was in Bower Thompson Student Union, Lenhart Grand Ballroom in Bowling Green State University on November 4th, 2016. The meeting or webinar I attend was from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. The title of the meeting was Meeting the Challenge: Hunger, Food, and Health Initiatives. The speaker of the meeting was Colleen Spees who is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND) and she also has a Philosophæ Doctor degree (PhD).
As a special education teacher I am involved in numerous meetings, in some of those meetings I have noticed that words, cultures and back grounds can impact the tone and outcome of the meeting. For some parents meeting with a room full of teachers can be intimidating. All too often the meeting consists of educated, white females. I am often the first African American teacher the student or parents have had interactions with. I can remember sitting in an IEP meeting for an hour when everyone had left the room besides me and the parent, I asked again if she had any questions or concerns. The parent asked, “What does all this mean for my child?” This parent sat in a meeting for an hour and had no idea what was being said nor did she feel comfortable

During my visit to my EDHE 105 teacher’s office, she encouraged me to attend two meetings for two organizations on campus. One was Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), a health profession based honors society, and the other was the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), a student lead, pre-medical organization aimed towards helping better prepare students for medical school. I was unfortunately busy during the time of the AED meeting and could not attend, but I was free during the AMSA meeting and decided to see what it was like. At first, I was skeptical about going to the meeting, because I knew that I would not know anyone else there. I was even more nervous about it when I saw how many people actually showed up, knowing that I still did not know anyone.
Our meeting with PwC for the 2016 Continuous Quality Improvement Project (CQIP) for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on school students with disability (NCCD) is on 21th November, Monday at 11.00 am. I am not sure if Lutfullah bey would like to attend the meeting as well. We will be bringing different cases from four different campuses, our NCCD flow chart and 2015&2016 NCCD list for all campuses.
I also attended 2 hours KCDC meeting on behalf of my supervisor. He couldn’t attend the meeting, so he asked me to attend it. Attending the meeting made me learn more about the programs that KCDC provide and project that they are working such as treatment group class, planning new group, partnerships with other agencies, research, and many more. Moreover, we also divided into three group to have short and small group workshop. I joined domestic violence that led by PawWah. The workshop was more like discussion and we all gave our ideas and perspectives to create domestic violence video for the Karen community and we came up with the best message that we would like to share with the audiences/public. After the workshop each group had to report
I want to attend the SNMA Conference to learn about and discuss any improvements in medical education as well as learn how physician advocacy plays a role in health care and if there are any initiatives/programs to better improve patient career. I should attend the conference because I'm considering a 5-year MD/MPH track, so this conference would be an eye opener and my first introduction into the public health sector.
On September 18, 2017, I received the opportunity to observe a triennial IEP meeting for B.T., a 13-year old male who attended the 8th grade at Northern California Preparatory, a non-public school. The IEP meeting consisted of a few key members such as the program specialist, a representative-special education teacher, school psychologist, B.T. and his parent, their advocate, and another member of the school. The reason for this meeting was to reevaluate the student’s special education placement and if B.T. could transfer back to a public school.
The next step is a combination of two, have the employee return company property. Someone should accompany the employee to his/her work area/location to assure company property has been properly returned and his/her personal property has been gathered. Making sure the personal property has been attained will deter the former employee from coming back. The second part would to have the former employee escorted out. In situations like these,
I would be attending the Texas Bankers Association meeting on June 15th 2016 for the Waco branch. Stacy agreed to close on the 15th for me, thank you Stacy.
Many people might believe that crucial conversations are witnessed in more political situations, but these types of conversation appear in our daily lives fairly often. Some typical crucial conversations in the work environment could be reporting bad news to a superior, approaching a coworker about them breaking a company rule, or discussing work effort with a team member. These situations appear in our home and social lives in the forms of disagreements in a relationship, dealing with roommate problems, and talking to a friend about participating in dangerous behaviors.
At the site base meeting it was noted that students are required to attend tutorials with Mr. Qualls after they have failed two consecutive six weeks. The teachers in attendance made various suggestions on how to be proactive to reach the students earlier in the semester to enable students to be successful the following six week. One common thread in the suggestions was to use 5th period as a pull-out program so teachers could work one on one with their student’s that need additional learning time in a particular subject that the student had failed the previous six weeks. Since students are currently assigned to a teacher’s attendance roster, an idea that was discussed by Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Hendrix, was to have teachers communicate with
Through conducting this informational interview, I have learned to have a successful and great experience for it, you will need to do a little research ahead. For instance, this assigment asked to research about the person and the company that the person worked for. When I did my research on the person and gathered information, I was able to connect with her as we were both born in India. Even though, we are years apart in age, there still seemed to be similarties in our personalities as we are interested in the same career field. This helped me connect with her personally which is more important as it will help her recognize me instantly. In addition, researching about her company helped as I was engage in more detailed conversation about
When conducting an interview I carefully read the contact with other. I knew I was interviewing someone from a different culture so I had to understand the ethnic community she was from which was Hispanic. I also was very focused on the professional self-disclosure because we were talking about a lot of personal things. I tried to humanize our relationship before I asked tough questions, this helps to create a sense of bonding. I was also very careful of my communication style, I always wanted to ask her questions in a positive manner and I was always actively listening to her responses.
I’ve had quite the learning experience over the last few weeks. I had a chance to obtain valuable information and support from my principal. I learned so much about the administration role and how difficult it can be. When I began my interview, I felt overwhelmed and excited at the same time. My principal is also my mentor; she has been very supportive of me pursuing my dreams to be in administrator. As I conducted my interview I learned so much about the principal’s role. I asked my principal a series of questions. The questions were based on the Interstate School Leadership Licensure Consortium Standards (ISLLC). My first question was based on educational programs. The educational programs at any school need balance. While we live in a test results world, there needs to be a balance of focus. I look at the type of student I want my school to produce and I surround myself with a faculty and other staffs that not only share in the mission, but also will help every student succeed. In addition, as an administrator, I need to provide my faculty and staff with the tools and resources necessary to make everyone feel successful.
