I am interning at the Queens Boulevard Endoscopy Center located on 9525 Queens Boulevard. The first thing I noticed about this internship site is the area it is located in. It is located next to many shopping and food centers making this area a busy one. The endoscopy center is on the 3rd floor. As one enters this floor they will first see the check in desk and waiting area. This is where I will be most of the time as I will play a role in checking patients in and handling patients health records. I have a mission of putting what I learned in health informatics towards electronic health records. There are also beds where I would play part by making sure there are always fresh sheets. My vision is to know where everything is and if I see something
My main interest in the Vidant Health Careers Internship is to gain hands on clinical experience with professionals. I would like to strengthen my prior knowledge of health careers that I have gained from the Health Science Academy and being a Volunteen at Vidant Medical Center by doing this internship. I hope to gain a better understanding for how my future career in pharmacy will be and this opportunity is the best way to do so.
Prior to walking in, my expectations for what I was about to partake in and experience were all over the place. I didn’t know whether to expect the absolute worst types of situations going on such as people being rushed into medical rooms or the most basic situations such as patients waiting for a strep throat test. I did expect to see a wide range of patients in terms of race, class, age, and gender. Contrary to the patients, I didn’t expect to see a wide range of race, class, age, and gender within the staff. I expected to see mostly female nurses, and male doctors, majority being Caucasian and middle age. I didn’t expect there to be that much security or any type of possible crime that could go on within a medical facility. I expected the waiting area and facility to be very large, large enough to accommodate a lot of patients at once. Lastly, I expected that taking our field notes would be a challenge because writing notes down in front of patients would be awkward and during interviews it would be hard to conduct a good interview while writing the whole time.
On January 8, 2018, I began as a Sales and Marketing Intern at Probo Medical in Fishers, IN. Probo Medical buys, sells, and repairs ultrasound probes and systems domestically and internationally. The company utilizes Salesforce to manage and run the sales, purchasing, and repair process; Salesforce is essential to the success and efficiency of the company. For the initial three years, Probo Medical targeted service companies that provide probes and probe repairs to hospitals and medical clinics. Thus, the company marketed and searched for the middle man rather than the end users. The goal for the current quarter is to begin targeting these end users, hospitals and medical clinics, to provide direct service and to expand clientele.
I have grown a passion for the medical field and one day, I will become a physician assistant. As a physician assistant, I will embrace my intelligence and passion in this health profession to allow me to help others. By already taking health classes it has helped me learn more about the direction I want to continue in this field. As I begin to advance my education into post-secondary school, I will be preparing myself to become the most driven and intelligent health professional by maintaining a high GPA and excellent study skills. My main goal during my education is to obtain as much experience and knowledge as a Patient Care Technician. This will allow me to increase my confidence in the medical field by interacting with doctors, nurses
What experience have you had that has given you insight into the patients you hope to eventually serve? (1500 characters)

There are millions of companies and corporations throughout the world and each of them contains working individuals who offer their skills to be apart of that business. Employees who meet certain requirements are hired because they will be able to provide the right skills to fulfill the goals of their employer. Health science major combines bio medical, psychosocial, societal and organizational aspects of health, disease and health care, this enabled me to chose the path of health care management. After taking the health science courses (marketing, health policy, epidemiology, etc.), there was an internship course to be fulfilled. To put what I have learned to the test I began interning at Queens Boulevard Endoscopy Center located at 9525
During my internship, I could apply the knowledge and skills learned from my core courses. This experience will allow me to work with John Hopkins Outpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager, Toni Carter-Radden and Johns Hopkins Clinical Infusion Pharmacy Manager, Michael Grimes and acquire insights into the management through observation, participation, and practical application of administrative skills.
As a junior at Cypress Creek High School I was blessed with the amazing opportunity to engage in health care through the Health Science - Rotations program. This program has enlightened me with many areas in health care that contribute to taking care of a patient. I was able to learn about certain areas of a hospital, particularly North Cypress Medical Center, by shadowing professionals in their area of study. While shadowing these medical professionals, multiple thoughts cross my mind. “I would love to do what they do,” is the thought that constantly sticks in my mind as I watch the medical professionals do what they spent many years learning how to do.
an endoscopy isn't usually painful, and most people only experience some mild discomfort, similar to indigestion or a spore throat. The procedure is usually carried out while you're conscious. You may be given a local anesthetic to numb a specific area of your body. this may be in the form of a spray or lozenge to numb your throat for
My internship involves me working under the Chief data officer of Stony Brook University Hospital. Before I get into my responsibility under the current project that I’m a part of, let me give you a little background information on the project.
As a student in the Health Care Management program at Metropolitan State University of Denver, an internship is required before completion. Usually, the internship is fulfilled during the student’s last semester upon graduation, when they are a senior. Recently, the Health Care Management Foundations course (HCM 2500), has become a prerequisite before beginning the internship hours. A total of 150 hours are required during the internship course (HCM 4610). In order to register for HCM 4610, an internship site must be approved and locked down. This paper will discuss a potential internship program with the National Institute of Change. It will provide a brief overview of the organization’s history, the purpose of an internship, potential
This reflection acts as my fourth reflection since I have started my internship at Comfort Dental under the Guidance of Dr. Trino Nuno. The semester is coming to an end, and I have enjoyed my time at Comfort Dental., I previously had a clinical and administrative internship at Smile Works Dentistry in Rockwall, Texas and I can now tell you that my experience at these two dental practices was incredibly different. At Smile Works, I quickly got used to the way the practice was run because it was not that complicated and I only had one doctor’s schedule to manage. However, at Comfort Dental I still struggle with managing day-to-day functions. The reason I struggle is that Comfort Dental has three doctors and a lot more staff. Also, the computer system that I mastered at Smile Works is not the same computer system that they use at Comfort Dental. I got the chance to use all to same skills in this internship. I answered phones, checked that patient’s insurance plans are eligible to be billed and scanned paper documents into a hard drive.
This semester, I am currently interning at Washington Adventist Hospital. I intern twelve hours a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. At the beginning of my internship, my goals were to learn as much as I can being on the Cardiology floor, learn how to talk to patients, learn how to work in a hospital setting, and learn how to communicate efficiently with nurse’s and patient care technician’s. I also learned how to answer phone calls and made sure to ask the right questions. This not only provides the nurse with what they are asking for, but also helps provide the right information to the doctor as well.
I paced into the entrance of the newly built Kaiser Permanente medical building, taking in the vast amount of sunlight that poured in through large windows that extended from ceiling to floor. I am always excited to stroll around any type of medical facility considering I am majoring in health science, with intentions to move into the medical field. On my walk to my interviewee’s lunch room, I took in the interactive and soothing environment. Visitors can sit and listen to a self playing elegant piano playing delicate music, or appreciate a glass wall eloquently decorated by a periodic table. I am excited to visit my aunt, Veronica Leon, whom when on the job, is not able to sit down and take in the soothing environment. She instead
