I am currently a second semester nursing student at The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San Jose State University. I will be begin my clinical training at El Camino Hospital this upcoming spring semester.
My professional experience includes more than 22 years of critical care nursing with HCA, Parallon and other hospital affiliates. I offer experience as a Certified Director Nurse Administrator working in the health care industry for more than 12 years. Consequently, I have experience in clinical management, acute care, emergent care, critical care, intermediate care, and nursing education as a STARN with Parallon and HCA hospitals.
My educational goal is to be accepted to an accredited family nurse practitioner program that is recognized locally and nationally. I am looking to advance my clinical skill and knowledge to the level of advanced practice. I want to be on the forefront as healthcare continues to revolutionize.
I currently work as a wound ostomy specialist for the hospi-tal. I desire to continue to grow as a nurse and professional. I am now ready to advance my career again and become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. In each position I’ve held, I have taken away a skill-set that has helped to mold me into the professional I am today. I have identified that there is a great need, in the Acute Care setting, for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners that can provide comprehensive and holistic care to the critically ill. According to Nursing and Health Sciences, hospital-based nurse practitioners influence team function, as well as facilitate advanced patient care, provide leadership and education as well as implement unit specific re-search. With my knowledge of the intensive care setting as well as my knowledge of pressure ul-cers, pressure ulcer prevention, wound management and advanced wound healing I feel that I would be a great asset to the profession as well as the hospital-based team. Once graduated, I plan to work in the Acute Care Setting, most likely in a specialty such as General

As an acute care nurse practitioner I hope to utilize my experience as an Intensive Care Unit nurse along with clinical knowledge and skills acquired through a graduate level program to provide the highest quality patient care. In my current role, I place high value on patient-family centered care and advocacy as well as commitment to lifelong learning. I have built my nursing career upon these values. I am excited to begin the journey of becoming an acute care nurse practitioner and to further my education and expand my scope of practice in the field of critical care, for which I have already developed a passion.
I believe that I possess talents and characteristics that will benefit the nursing profession. Coming from an aerospace background, I have worked in environments where attention to detail, safety, documentation, and hazardous material handling occurred on a daily basis. In addition to my normal job functions, I was proactive in process improvement programs, inventory control systems development, safety awareness programs, and I served as the department point of contact/ team leader in all three areas. I was also formally trained and worked as a certified
Specific Purpose: to inform the audience about a career as a critical care or ICU nurse.
According to physical growth and development theories, grade 5 students should have an annual gain of 2-3 kg in weight and 5 cm. They have well developed gross motor skills and increasing accuracy in fine motor skills as they lost all of their baby teeth, and they also need more privacy as they start to pay attention to their personal hygiene (NBC News Education Nation, 2016). I noticed that girls were taller than boys, and students played sports and cleaned after themselves. Based on the theories and observations, my intervention as a nursing student would be helping them to develop an interest in sports, and teach them different cleaning techniques (NBC News Education Nation, 2016; Hockenberry, 2014a).
