In English 102 I would consider it to be the best writing experience of my life. There would be times where I would say that it was the most struggling class I ever had with my grammar and word choices. I would always have to prove my self to Professor Hohmann who is are an English professor at CAC (Central Arizona College) That I can write professionally as a student. I would have six assignments in the English course to prove myself that I can write as good as a college student. The tasks that were given to me for grades were beneficial for other classes and in life. One of the assignments where the research paper for the topic that I liked of which that there needed to be two sides. Another task that helped me out with my writing was the
During this semester, the realization of my past was that I have often skimmed through parts of the writing process to get the job done. Not being an avid reader often hindered my writing abilities. This class most definitely made me realize that the entire writing process is important and having peer reviews also helped significantly and certainly made a difference in the result of my work. Taking the time to read, brainstorm my thoughts, write an outline, rough draft after rough draft, reading constructive criticism of others helped in the revisions of my papers’ reaching the best possible outcome. When selecting English 102, I knew I would be challenged, but to what extent I was unsure. If like past English courses that were taken learning to write essays would be the goal. Once realizing that my work would be shared with others, providing informed information
This year in our English 1010 class, we covered many different genres and types of writing. We covered how to write personal narratives, how to respond to other students and other forms of writing, and how to professionally write essays. Briefly, we touched down on how to write argumentatively and were also required to create an infographic, wish was probably my favorite assignment. Although I never thought of myself as a strong writer, I believe that this class has greatly improved not only my writing skills, but my thinking skills as well. This was my first English class to be taken through dual enrollment and I believe that it went quite successfully while challenging me as a writer.
My major, nursing, will require a great amount of communication skills. I believe English 1101 will help me further develop my communication skills. It is also very important to me to challenge myself and overcome obstacles to make myself a better writer. I found that high school English classes were moderately easy because there were no challenges set forth. I would rather take a class that makes me put forth hard work to earn a good grade and will teach me things I need to know to succeed, than a class I can get an easy A in that teaches me nothing. I hope one of the main principles I get from this class is how to become a better writer. I expect that this class will be a challenge and will teach me things I need to know to
Everyone on the planet has a goal set in life, but only a handful attempt to improve to obtain their goal by studying the subject their goal is in. In my English class, English 101 this quarter I was astonished by how much I had progressed as a writer sharpening my writing skills and also learned a lot about writing that I hadn’t learned before. In my writing portfolio for this quarter I had to write an autobiography essay, a research essay, and this reflection essay to develop my writing skills better. The writing assignments were fun to do because it challenged me to work on essays of different styles that were new to me. The essay assignments helped me grow as a better writer that gave me the self-confidence and skills to take on the world on my own.
As the semester began, I looked forward to taking another English course. English has always been a favorite subject of mine because I enjoy writing. As I entered this class, I knew that it was going to be a heavy work load but I knew that I would get all of my work done if I put my mind to it. This was exactly the case in this course. The English 102 course is a demanding and quick paced class that requires hard work, dedication, revisions and no room for procrastination.
As I look back on my English 101 experience, I have come to the conclusion that I have learned many new things that have improved my abilities as a writer. I have learned some new techniques that have improved my ways of approaching an essay. I learned all about the rhetorical appeals and how to apply them in my writing and how to look for them in a essay written by a author. I have also learned how to argue both sides of a argument, and how to look for reliable sources and to properly quote and site the author of the essay. I feel as if I have become a better writer and my improved writing skills are shown within each essay.
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there’s always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer.
I have only been attending Cleveland State University for two semesters, and as this course comes to an end I feel like I grown and learned many techniques more than ever. I came to Cleveland State University with only my high school knowledge on how to format an argumentative essay, and throughout this course I now know how to write and format many other papers. Taking English 100 has taught me how to break down and analyze an article, it taught me how to find confidence in my work, and it helped me grow to an even better writer.
English 102 has been an extremely huge learning experience for me both inside and outside of the classroom. I feel as though I have grown as a writer in more areas than others throughout this course but overall I feel that this class was extremely helpful. My English 101 course was very different compared to English 102 in terms of what we learned. In English 101 it was more of a personal based writing class while in English 102 there was a lot of emphasis put on academic sources and research. Coming into this class I believed I was a pretty well rounded writer but I soon learned I had a lot to work on. When we were assigned to choose a topic we wanted to focus on for the rest of the semester I knew I wanted to focus on Social Media since it’s a huge part of my life and the way it has impacted society. It was a difficult topic to cover
This year in English 101 has been quite the experience because this was my first English class at the college level. Signing up for the hybrid class I honestly didn 't know what to expect. All I knew I had to take this class in order to graduate. So whether or not I wanted to, I was eventually going to have to take English 101. During this term, I was able to further develop my skills in analyzing arguments and advertisements by using SPAC (situation, purpose, audience and claims) and effectively connect two pieces together. Also, besides grammar errors, I still personally struggle with creating detail within my work.
Being educated in India, I came in to this course nervous because I felt English at university level would really difficult for me. This course didn’t turn out to be as tough as I thought. The area in which I experienced difficulties involves the lack of time, the overwhelming amount of homework and deadlines. The first essay assigned was hard for me as I had never done creative writing. With time, I seem to be getting better at writing essays and becoming more confident about my work. Before this class I had very limited knowledge about critical reading and writing, but due to this course my critical reading and writing skills have improved, and I think that I have become good at it. English 160 taught me how to Paraphrase, Annotate and Summarize
I have been taking English 100 for fourteen weeks now, and throughout this time I have learned and grown as a writer more than I thought possible, Besides I can see the improvement in my writing skills . This class has benefited me in many ways, it has taught me how to write and express my feelings and thoughts into written words, how to find an answer to things that I do not know. Most importantly, I knew the importance of reading that has helped to expand my vocabulary words and to know the using of the words. English 100 was a great learning experience for me. Although sometimes I have been feeling overwhelmed by the work I have, I got this feeling that I can do it with the skills that we have learned.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, and I’ve always been fairly good at it. In high school, I would receive high grades on most of my essays, if I even managed to turn them in. I was good at writing but not good at actually finishing what I write. Besides this, the problem I had most often with my essays was that they could be disorganized. I wasn’t very good at organizing my thoughts, and they were often jumbled. Taking English 1210 has certainly helped me improve this, along with other struggles I’ve had. This class felt easier than my past ones; however, I did learn more during this course than I did in other classes. I have achieved the learning outcomes for this course, which were defined for us in the syllabus. This course has helped me improve my writing and achieve these outcomes through classroom methodologies, learning grammar, and learning the composition process.
Coming fresh into college, there are a lot of basic classes that everyone needs to take. One of them is English 101, a class that is required for every degree that is offered here at Highline. I knew that it would not be easy, especially for me. I was never a good writer, for there was always something that I was struggling with, such as not going deep enough, or the writing being very bland. I put some of the blame on my past teachers;, their way of teaching how to be an effective writer was not effective. What they taught was very structured and did not leave much room for a student to grow.
At the beginning of this course I was reluctant because I was not confident in myself that I could write a ten-page paper. Ten pages sounded a lot, but now after doing this paper, I realized that ten pages is nothing if you are intrigued by your topic. My classmates and I were very privileged to pick the topic of our choice and write about it. Some of my friends who took English 102
