My understanding of a Syllabus, it is a document "that outlines a course policies," with all applicable knowledge in preparation for success in the course. (Eng. 111-805 Syllabus, pg1)
The information that is found in the Syllabus for English 111-805 class is my instructor name and contact information, class schedule and hours, skills needed for course, educational resources, proper software needed, the course learning objectives, the course information and policies. (Eng. 111-805 Syllabus,pg1)
A student who wants to be successful in this course need to prepare themselves for success with the tools provide by Forsyth Tech. One must visit the site and email daily. Success can also be achieved by networking with fellow classmates, to study,
In the past two months i fell like i have accomplished a great deal. As i focus on it more i realize i have become a better reader. I did this by concentrating on my readings and take my time to read them. With the help of my professor and classmates i began to analyze what i read.
During my first quarter in Honors English 10, I have had my deal of frustration and struggles with the class, along with some success and prosperity. I have found many of my strengths, and plenty of my weaknesses; that I would enjoy building upon for the rest of the school year to come. Although the profuse advice provided by many of my teachers and peers is absolutely valuable (and appreciated), I fancy finding my own way to complete tasks; though it may be an insufficient way.
I believe that I deserve a solid A in English 250 because I have worked very hard in this course and learned many valuable information that will be useful later in my life. Especially this summer because I will be taking a speech class at a community college. I have grown in the learning aspect of this English course, but also in many other areas as well like speaking up in class which I don’t normally do in my other classes due to the number of students and I am just a shy person. Also in this course, I get to work with others in small groups and be a team player from participating in the group discussions and sharing my thoughts about a certain topic. I have been able to analyze many parts of grammar and resources that have urged me to further
In Mrs.Brauckmann’s English II class syllabus there are many important aspects that can promise success. The three rules that stand out the most consists of expectations, The academic integrity policy and the measurable course objectives. Following Mrs. Brauckmann’s list of rules and expectations will allow a person to grow and become more focused on their education. These rules are very important which means they need to be respected by all English II students.
As a way to learn and validate the research process, the students of English 1120 each conducted a survey with the other students in the class. Surveys were composed of two-three focused subject questions. Question were intended to have enough depth so that the students could form several assumptions based on the way their peers answered. In the class survey I composed, students answered questions based on their relationship with cultures different from their own. The first question asks students if they had ever traveled, and how far their adventure took them if they had. Ten students have traveled outside of the United States borders, and five students have gone across the pond to other countries. When asked, “Do you desire to know about cultures that differ from yours?” Twelve students replied that they do desire to learn more, and seven students replied that they would like to learn cultures in some respects. The final question asks, ““Do you think learning about different cultures is beneficial to you as a student?” Eighteen out of the nineteen respondents marked that they believe cultural learning is beneficial to them in their academic life.
My class that really require a lot of reading is English 101, I preview the textbook to have an idea what am about to read, I tried to read a few pages and absorbed the text for better understanding, and highlight some phrases for references as I read in case of reference, I take note in my own words for later recovering of my reading. Once I get bored I just glance through the rest of the pages. How to improve effectively with the reading strategies is to finding new ideals to present research materials in a different ways and learn habits of break assignment into pieces.
In a way, the syllabus acts as an education identity of who the instructor is. The author states that be the warmth of the language and the strictness of certain course policies, it conveys how approachable and flexible they want to appear to their students (Nilson, 2007). It also gives an indication of how well they plan ahead and, more generally, how much they like structure. She also states that the presence or absence of assignments and activities that hold students accountable of the readings sheds light on whether the instructor lectures the reading in class, or doesn’t focus on the readings, or is simply naïve to student’s study habits (Nilson, 2007). The author recommends that we use the words empowerment and learner centered than lecture, know, learn, and understand (Nilson, 2007).
I learned many new things from English 1102 class. It was not much fun but I learned some interesting things. For my research, I needed a topic that interests me. I first started to search topics from the chemistry field. I could not find any interesting topics then I came across an article that talks about how robots will take our jobs and every one would be jobless. After reading that article, I was really convinced that robots were bad for human society and people should be focusing on improving other fields such as medicine than wasting time and money in inventing a robot, which is one type of luxury and that, will take our jobs. So I chose this topic for my research. For further discussions, I started searching for some more article about robots not good for human society and I found that there was not much about the negative impact of robots in human society other than taking human jobs. So I was stuck but then I found an article that supports the robots. It was a good article and it explains how robots are useful in human society. The Article says that robots will create new jobs and benefit employers, government and disable people. I also found in one article saying that if robots will do our jobs humans can focus on bigger problems like finding cures for diseases, finding solution to prevent natural disasters and many more. Therefore, I decided to support the robot’s positive impact rather than supporting
Such websites are helpful and assignment due dates. This syllabus also has my instructors contact information and the best way to reach her. I like how she went into detail about how to turn in homework, being I was clueless when I went to Black Board. I understand by reading the syllabus that no late work is accepted. All assignments that are due must be turned in through Black Board and not by email. There is a brief summary in the syllabus and it states the learning outcome of English 111. Our instructor also explained the learning center and gave us their contact information and location. A syllabus is pretty beneficial and something that you should keep throughout the
Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google? is an informational novel by William Poundstone. The book would seem like a guide for challenging interview questions, but is mostly tips and tricks for any kind of question asked of you. All of the questions given as examples in the book are very interesting and extremely challenging. However, the book is not full of dull questions and methods of answering them. Nothing in the book is anything you would find in school, it was a very fun and intuitive novel using the maximum amount of creative and out-of-the-box thinking possible.
In order to gain a better understanding of the role of a good syllabus in teaching, I present my critique of the syllabus of the course SOWK 732: Social work practice with organization and communities. Before starting the critique of the syllabus, it is necessary to review the purpose and characteristics of a syllabus. A syllabus is not only a contract between the instructor and students (Step to a good syllabus, n.d.; Cullen, 2013), but also an attempt to improve the learner-centered academic experience. With these purposes, I consider a good syllabus as one of the basic communication channels between the instructor and students. Thus, this communication channel should be clear, specific, and informative in the expectations, objectives, and
In this essay I’ll be discussing the similarities and differences between my math class syllabus vs. my reading class.
Over the past few years I have really gained an interest in the way writers can influence different emotions onto their readers and how a simple sentence can change meaning based on how different audiences view it. I am intrigued by the way authors can manipulate different emotions by expressing individual thoughts yet also encouraging the reader to express their understanding of the texts. Language is a subject that defines us personally, it is universal but yet still define us as individuals. My decision to study English is based on my desire to enhance my understanding of how we, as humans, speak and interact with each other on a daily basis. Although the linguistic element is something I have only recently studied, I have a strong interest in analysing the precise elements of the English language, more specifically the relationship between the spoken features of a text based upon who is listening.
There are many things that are important in school, Moreover a syllabus is one of them, a syllabus are like a contract saying that you understand whatever in on the paper, the student will agree to accept it. The three most important aspects of the syllabus is Integrity, attendance, and make-up work. The reason why those three things are the most important is because, it basically covers almost all the agreements that are on the syllabus. Once he or she signs it, they will also agree to hold whatever responsibility it tells the student what he or she are responsible for. The syllabus tells what rules the students have to follow and what they need to do.
Mrs. Brauckmann’s syllabus is major key for this year’s English II CP. The syllabus informs us how to be successful in her class, by listing the rules and expectations for the future. The three most important aspects of our classroom syllabus are rules and expectation, attendance, and grading policy.
