English 123 is a requirement for almost all majors, including mine. To meet this requirement, I was given a choice a take English Composition CLEP and English 123. I decided to take this course with the hope to improve my writing and critical thinking skills. Even though it was hard to take an English class on deployment, I am very glad that I took it. My time is well spent on this course.
Among many things, I learned out of this course, here are a three outcome that is worth mentioning. First, responding orally and in writing to evaluate, analyze, and critically assess the ideas and meaning of diverse texts. Second, making appropriate rhetorical decisions to achieve the purpose of a written work, based on an understanding of ethical issues and underlying assumptions and values in the argument. Third, demonstrating understanding of the interdependent relationship of reading, writing, and thinking and reflect on their thinking as part of a larger community of thinkers.
I learned how to respond orally and in writing to evaluate, analyze, and critically assess the ideas and meaning of diverse texts by composing summary and strong response, and exploratory research paper. Summary and strong response paper taught me how to be firm and fair way to thinking. This is very useful at work. I can use this to improve my

Two-description paper mostly confused me at first. Then I referenced my work to the textbook realized what I was doing wrong. Two-description paper taught me how to write interesting and storytelling introductions. The informative and surprising essay was very useful in learning to present an idea. It will come hand at work. It was also learning process for me to research an interesting
I can say that when I was reflecting on the past semester I came to the conclusion that I did use and learn two of the main objective. The two that I used was Applying research and use writing to develop a burgeoning understanding of the genres and format common to various disciplines and Construct accurate and responsible documentation appropriate to the disciplines.
After completing English 1101, I expected English 1102 to be easier. When I started doing the work in the class and taking tests, I realized that the work was a little more challenging. Now that I have finished the second part of this course, I really have grown to like reading and writing. This course is a great course to take because it has given me a lot of knowledge on how to write a great paper, and it taught me there is a lot of things to write about.
During this semester, the realization of my past was that I have often skimmed through parts of the writing process to get the job done. Not being an avid reader often hindered my writing abilities. This class most definitely made me realize that the entire writing process is important and having peer reviews also helped significantly and certainly made a difference in the result of my work. Taking the time to read, brainstorm my thoughts, write an outline, rough draft after rough draft, reading constructive criticism of others helped in the revisions of my papers’ reaching the best possible outcome. When selecting English 102, I knew I would be challenged, but to what extent I was unsure. If like past English courses that were taken learning to write essays would be the goal. Once realizing that my work would be shared with others, providing informed information
English 1201 has helped me vastly improve my reading and writing abilities. Before this class, my English classes in high school were always difficult for me because I was not the best reader or writer. However, with the help of Professor Morse, my reading and writing abilities have vastly improved. I have never felt so confident in my reading and writing skills until now. The diagnostic essay at the beginning of the year was very difficult for me to be honest. I did not have the best reading comprehension at the time so analyzing what I read in a book and interpreting it into a paper was difficult for me. However, thanks to the journal entries and the amazing advice given to me by Professor Morse of how to improve my writing, I have ultimately become a better reader and writer. It is because of her help and the help of the journal entries, this class has vastly improved my reading and writing abilities.
I intend on acing English 1102 online. Prior to this course, I was home schooled for three and a half years, and many of my classes were online. One of the online programs I used was Florida Virtual. Additionally, I have completed three online college courses—including English 1101. Because I have engaged in online schooling, I have established the skills necessary to devote myself not only to a physical classroom, but also to online environment. In the beginning, being self-motivated was difficult. I transitioned from a public middle school to a self-disciplined online program. My busy mother could do little to help me be accountable for my school work. As time progressed, I wormed myself into a pit of unfinished assignments. My parents stepped
Understand the ways that reader and writer wrote in and beyond the university. On way is writing essays about certain discourse communities like the “Persuasive” essay, where I had to write about a discourse community I was part of and how it used writing. It was a challenging essay on the part where I had to explain and give examples since my discourse community was my criminal justice study group. It was hard to describe how writing took place and make it persuasive showing why writing is important to my discourse community.Second is reading different articles that were connected to different discourse communities from each other. And writing a response to the article was great because it makes me think little and look deeper instead of
2. I wrote informative text in my comparison and contrast and my analytical essay. I was able to take my prior knowledge and information and convey my ideas through these two papers. I was able to do this in an organized matter through the use of my outline.
Overall, I enjoyed English 331 this semester. This class has helped me become a better writer and speaker. I have improved on my writing techniques, as well as word choice and grammar.
I have only been attending Cleveland State University for two semesters, and as this course comes to an end I feel like I grown and learned many techniques more than ever. I came to Cleveland State University with only my high school knowledge on how to format an argumentative essay, and throughout this course I now know how to write and format many other papers. Taking English 100 has taught me how to break down and analyze an article, it taught me how to find confidence in my work, and it helped me grow to an even better writer.
Despite the review I got on any of these assignments I have taken away a ton from each piece. English 103 has given me a short measure of time to deliver a wide range of composing pieces, and in addition winding up more educated while creating bits of work. Going into English 103 I was to a great degree positive about my written work capacity and did not understand the huge measure of terms and methods I had never known about. The greatest perspective I am detracting from this class is on terms I had never utilized or heard in English class: ethos, feeling, and logos. These three associated terms were acquainted with me at the earliest reference point of the semester and were immediately installed into my brain and my composition. In class
English Comp 1 was an eye opening experience. The course was emotionally and physically draining, but I strongly believe it prepared me for Comp 2. Learning and improving are a few of the rewards I received through hard work and dedication during the course. Throughout English comp 1, I discovered my biggest weakness. I improved some of my various difficulties, and I achieved a rewarding high point.
The English language is particularly complex in almost all aspects. Many of the words in the English language have different meanings for the same word. This is not unlike the definition of the different levels of usage. McCrimmon defines the three levels, formal, moderate, and colloquial, by their sentence structure, diction, and tone (McCrimmon 193). ¹ Using McCrimmon’s definitions, authors can determine what type of writing is applicable to each of the three levels. For the formal writings, an adequate example of where readers can find it is in a professional journal, and an appropriate place to find an example of the moderate level is in a weekly news magazine. Also, the best place to look for an example of the colloquial level is in certain sections of the newspaper. All of the levels of usage apply to these different types of writings and assist in defining what each level involves.
The things learned during the class, English 203, has not only helped the ability to write better, but also the ability to expand the research on each paper I have written. From the very beginning of this semester, I was taught to write an abstract, which I have never done before, but the basis of an abstract is to look at the big picture and take all the important points of a paper. Also, the papers that was written throughout the semester was not all based around one topic. The topics varied from sciences to engineering feats, while also coming up with our own business proposal where we learned how to format and make it a clean presentation of the idea, and finally we had to research Spartacus, and how it relates to history whether it is historically accurate or not. Taking English 203 has furthered my ability to write papers learning different techniques and ideas making myself a better writer.
Over the course of this semester each paper that was written helped to introduce me and my fellow classmates to different formatting, and genres of writing. A lot of knowledge was gained from writing these papers and I was able to compare and contrast the disciplinary writings and notice what makes each of them stand out. Reflecting back on these individual papers helps to express what I have learned.
This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade.
