I always have had a passion for English so it was no surprise to my family and friends when I chose to pursue a degree in English Literature and minor in Education. Many view an emphasis in English as a waste of time or a risky major, but actually it can be very successful. When you graduate, you can incorporate, but do not have to limit yourself to teaching or editorial careers. Ever since I graduated I have been involved in two job functions that have incorporated my English degree in several ways. Using English as a Logistics Coordinator My first job was at a national window shutters and blinds company that imported home furnishings from Asia and distributed them to home improvement stores here in the US. The company heavily emphasized customer service here in the US along with communicating with their agents in Asia. I was told that I primarily hired because my English degree would provide the company with a better communication tool. I primarily dealt with domestic customer service and was responsible with producing the weekly and monthly reports on our company 's status. Good grammar and spelling were very essential in these reports since any incorrect information could misconstrue the data and reflect poorly on upper management 's presentation. Many employees appreciated my expertise and I was even offered a job by my boss to tutor his children in English. Using English as a Purchasing Agent My second and current job is working as a purchasing agent for aerospace
