English Language Week 2011

1.0 Introduction

The use of English Language in very important among the school children. It is an opportunity for the children to enhance their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills which are the five important skills pupils need to master. Therefore, children must not only practice it during school hour but also in every conversation regardless place and time. A consistent use of English Language will ensure pupils; at their tender age inculcate the essential skills needed. It is also focused to encourage the pupils all levels in school how to appreciate the value of English Language and how fun it is. The opening and closing ceremony were held and launched on the same day which was the last day of the English Week by our Headmaster, Mr Crispin Payus.

4.0 Target Group

The target group that were selected for this programme are from all level 1 and level 2 pupils. They are all from the age of 7 to 12 years of age. This programme were intended to encourage the pupils to be more aware of the importance of English Language in life. Without the knowledge of English Language, the pupils will not be able to communicate well and there will be more misunderstanding between them when they communicate with each other.

5.0 Report on implementation of Programme

The first programme here is the English Week programme. The activities are action song competition, storytelling competition, spelling bee competition and last but not least the opening and closing ceremony.

5.1.1 Action Song Competition
The action song competition was the first activity conducted on the 4th of April 2011 which falls on the day of Monday. It started at 8.00 a.m where all the participates who entered this competition were asked to gather at the school hall of SK Stella Marris, Kota Kinabalu. There were 6 groups participate in the action song competition on that day. The teacher in-charge was Madam Rina. The competition started as scheduled. Each group comprised of 15 pupils.
