ENVIROMENTAL IMPACT OF AVIATION INTRODUCTION-The things which can fly like airplanes, blimps, helicopters etc. comes under aviation. All the aviation evolves combustion which produces carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, water vapour and other greenhouse gases in the environment which is cause to climate change and global warming. Aviation has a large impact on climate system. It presently accounts for 4-9% of the total climate change impact of human activity.it produces noise which also affects the environment.

Cowper-Smith & de Grosbois (2011, p.59) stated that airlines are not currently focusing enough on their social responsibilities, an area in which Qantas should look to be at the head of their industry. The way in which Qantas operates can have monumental impacts not only on their customers but to the environment itself. Planes although a current need in society also come with a heavy amount of baggage which influences the environment. Aircraft noise, impact on local air quality are just some of the by-products of aircraft travel (Goodman, 2009 p.14). The most discussed and criticised issue within aircraft travel in the modern climate however, is the affect that it has on the environment. This is due to amount of emissions in which are consumed through aircraft travel. Shell aviation the “leading global supplier of world-class aviation fuel and lubricants” supplies almost 7000 aircrafts with fuel each day, refuelling a plane every 12 seconds. Qantas airlines should be knowledgeable on how much fuel they are using and the type of fuel they are using. Pollution resulting from greenhouse gasses and emissions can result in horrific consequences for the environment. Examples of costs that Qantas may endure from its impact on the environment could be adding to the growing concern of global warming throughout the world (Kolstad, 1996 p.1). But that is the reality of what we are seeing with our climate this days. Global warming is one of the critical issues facing the world today. Global warming is the gradual increase in the earth’s atmospheric temperature. Naturally occurring gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and water vapor trap heat from the sun, preventing it from leaving the atmosphere. If Global warming continues the world would be in danger. This essay will examine the problem of global warming and suggest some ways of solving the problem.
We need to find out what cause Global Warming. From the scientists research results, we can see that carbon dioxide pollution from the increase of industry and transportation is a major cause of global warming. These two causes are connected with the growth in the world population. As the population grows the necessity for food and other products increase, therefore industry must grow to keep up with the demand. The increase in transportation is directly due to the growing population and the need for jobs and the growing congestion on our highways.

The issue of global warming should be on the list of our top priorities. Studies show that the average of global temperatures have risen since the Industrial Revolution began. Since the Industrial Revolution, human emissions has quadrupled the frequency of certain heat extremes and many scientists have warned that a failure to bring greenhouse gases under control could eventually lead to a 62-fold increase in extreme heat blasts (Gillis Justin A17). Most of the increase is due to human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities contribute to a build-up in carbon dioxide and other gases in Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth’s atmosphere is made of gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen. These gases act as a blanket that covers and gives us warmth, but once these gases such as carbon dioxide absorbs heat, but does not release it back into space in which causes the increase in global temperature. This is called the greenhouse effect because it only traps heat but does not release it.
