Subject: Contract evaluation for ESH product/service bundles for the noise mapping/exposure monitoring/hearing test vendors.
Overview: As part of our environmental health and safety program, which evaluates our OSHA compliance, we contract with an industrial hygiene service provider to complete the following regular services in our 8 facilities that perform metal machining and fabrication: Noise mapping, exposure monitoring, and hearing tests. Our current vendor has reached their 3-year renewal period. As part of our operations management strategy, we like to reevaluate each contract before it’s renewed using a value matrix. We have considered 3 alternative vendors to compare our current vendor who is more than adequate, we are simple taking this opportunity to evaluate if the services and cost is competitive at $40K a year.
Performance factors: Cost, flexibility, speed, and quality
The performance factors most relevant to our vendor selection are cost, flexibility, speed and quality. Our evaluation will prioritize quality first, speed second, flexibility third and cost lastly.
• Required performance traits: Quality (functionality, reliability, productivity, and safety)
• Acceptable performance traits: Speed and flexibility (efficiency, customization)
• Unacceptable performance traits: Cost (significantly overpriced

9. Conduct a detailed review of the remaining vendors, this should include all the evaluation criteria developed as part of the evaluation framework in < Request for proposal>, as well as a more detailed review of the functional fit and any other factors that have come to light since.

The second level is applying the traditional level 2 evaluation criteria of quality, quantity, delivery, price, and service. Quality is a main issue Victoria will need to analyze from each supplier. It is important that the supplier cannot only keep up with today’s demands, but also future demands and technology upgrades for their products. An assessment of the supplier’s management and financial aspects will need to be conducted. This will be a good indication of how effective their supply chain is, especially when dealing with multiple tiers of suppliers. Victoria must take into consideration the price quote she received, relative to how many times they can deliver a week and how long it will take them to receive their shipments.
According to OSHA Regulations, each location with noise exposures of 85 to 90 dB (A) will provide hearing protectors for the Employee’s optional use. Noise exposures of 90dB (A) or above require the mandatory use of hearing protection. Further, OSHA requires that a variety of hearing protectors be available for Employees to choose (both a variety of plugs and muff type hearing protectors).
The employer also has to comply with all standards, rules, and regulations that are set forth by OSHA and the OSH Act. Employers are required to inspect the workplace to insure they are up to OSHA standards. Insure that employees are only using safe tools and equipment that are in their proper condition. It should be easy for the employees to be aware of potential hazards by the employer posting signs, using color codes, labels, or signs to convey warning. Employees must be trained in a language that they understand. Operating procedures must be in place and properly communicated to the employees to assure the employees follow safety and health standards. Employers that house or use hazardous chemicals will be required to have hazardous communication program and for that all the employees to be trained on exposure and precautions. Employers are to fund medical exams if required by OSHA standards. The OSHA poster must placed in a prominent location at the workplace. Records need to be kept of work-related injuries and illnesses. The log of these injuries and illnesses need to made available on February 1st for three months. Assure employees have access to medical and exposure records. Provide a workplace free of discrimination. OSHA citations must be posted at or near the work area where the infraction occurred. The citation must be in place for three working days or until the
Because of the important relationship between insourcing/outsourcing and competitiveness, organizations must consider many variables when considering an insourcing/outsourcing decision. This may include a detailed examination of a firm’s competency and costs, along with quality, delivery, technology, responsiveness, and continuous improvement requirements. Because of
After reading the two articles by Ramias and Wilkins on Performance Metrics, what metrics, if any would you identify that are essential to managing the prescription fulfillment process at CVS.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), often referred to as the "OSH Act," was enacted in 1970 by President Richard M. Nixon. Its purpose is to assure safe and healthful working conditions for men and women (EPA, 2006). The Act is administered and enforced at the national level by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a division of the US Department of Labor. The application of the OSH Act in the current employment climate will be discussed as it applies to a variety of industries; considerations that are most applicable to the specific type of industry will be discussed initially, and those that are equally important regardless of the type of business will complete the section. Finally, this paper will discuss how the
The strength of this approach lies in the fact that the management realized the importance of using a widespread indicator. The next step should be to compute this measure in a context of comparison, which is the aim of the method. By looking at the EVA’s variation (within the same project) throughout the years, a firm can even understand if value is being created or destroyed: a clear and fully satisfying scenario appears.
I studied the “Environmental effect and behavior” of required machines/equipments which I received as a feedback from suppliers to ensure the health and safety requirements throughout the lab.
The more they can come up with, the better. Some managers do recognize that the customer has an alternative, but they often make the mistake of assuming that favourable points of difference must be valuable for the customer. Best-practice suppliers base their value proposition on the few elements that matter most to target customers, demonstrate the value of this superior performance, and communicate it in a way that conveys a sophisticated understanding of the customer’s business priorities. A supplier’s offering may have many technical, economic, service, or social benefits that deliver value to customers - but in all probability, so do competitors’ offerings. Thus, the essential question is, “How do these value elements compare with those of the next best alternative?” Every Customer Value Proposition has an assortment of value elements, which can be sorted into 3 types:
The client should continuously monitor the processes to make sure that the performances of the third party are in line with the outsourcing contract (Wan, Wan & Zhang, 2010). Moreover, the auditor should assess and verify pre-defined ongoing monitoring and ensure its effectiveness. The process should include and not limited to the following; define and certify criteria for service supplier’s performance, ensure regular reports from suppliers on the agreed upon performance standards, evaluate market conditions benchmarking against other supplier options, and identify the probability for improvement, and finally, define negotiation procedures before implementation.
