The IRA had recruited one man to go behind enemy lines and kill Northern Ireland’s general to stop the attacking force. They had recruited Eoghan Reid. Eoghan has red hair, an average build, he’s 5 feet 7 inches tall, and a short beard. He was recruited because of his intelligence, his training, his quick thinking, and he focuses on the task at hand. He was sent on his mission on the July 14, 1922. They sent him to Belfast was pretty much right on the general’s location. He was ordered to watch and record the general’s movements for 1 week, then take him out. It was hard to set it up to get a good view without sticking the barrel out of the window to stay as stealthy as a mouse. But it wouldn’t matter because a guard noticed some strange activity the day before had in the apartments. The guard informed the general and the general was planned the raid for the apartment building. When the general walked out to go to a meeting he lined up the shot and fired. Time slowed down and Eoghan The only problem was that this was a set up. The general had switched with a privet for precaution just in case there was an assassin. The general was correct with his assumption. After Eoghan shot the man he thought was the general he noticed that it wasn’t him after all. The general was now one of the soldiers that was now shooting at him. He had to line up another shot and shoot again. This time he got him but when he started to run out of the building he noticed a sharp and warm pain in his left side. He had been shoot in the gut. All the sudden he stopped. Eoghan had never been shot before. He was shocked. When he was running up the stairs he hear a door get broken down and stomping footsteps and one of his booby traps explode. He ran even faster to the
The other sniper is situated on a building on the other side of the street as the Republican Sniper. On top of being shot at, an armored car, of the opposing side, drives up near the Republican sniper’s position. He believes that his position was given up by a local woman who was walking around. The Republican sniper must kill this woman or his life will be in jeopardy. The Republican sniper takes the shot, and kills the woman. However, even after killing the woman, the Republican Sniper is still being shot at. He has to shelter himself, so, making his way to the top floor of the building, he situates himself. The Republican sniper proceeds to have a shootout with the other unknown sniper. The Republican sniper needs a way to kill his opponent, so he devises an ingenious plan. He fakes his death by pretending to be shot in the head. The opposing sniper, thinking he had killed the Republican sniper, makes his way out of his hiding spot. Tragedy at Dieppe The Dieppe Raid (August 19th 1942) was a dark time in Canadian military history, approximately 900 Canadian soldiers were killed, 2.5 thousand were wounded and two thousand soldiers were taken prisoner by the Germans, all in a period of nine hours. Not knowing enough concerning this battle, the area I wish to research is the Dieppe Raid in the Second World War. My research question is “What allowed the Dieppe Raid to be such a failure?” The purpose of this essay is to scrutinize the events that occurred during the operation as a whole, how the Allied Canadian force was overpowered by the entrenched Germans, and what impact the raid had concerning the Allied war effort.
An accidental chemical mixture by scientists off of the coast of Florida had created a destructive blob, it attacked Miami, Florida on April 1st, many people were killed such as President Ronald Phillips.
The Dieppe Raid was bittersweet. It was a Canadian attempt to destroy a lot of
The third and most obvious reason the British are to blame for the massacre is that the British soldiers fired into the crowd. When Hugh Montgomery was knocked down by a chunk of ice, he stood up and fired into the crowd (Aron 24). The other soldiers soon fired as well. The gunfire killed five people. Crispus Attucks, Samuel Gray, and James Caldwell died at the scene. Samuel Maverick died a few hours later, while Patrick Carr survived for nine days before dying of his wounds (Olson). Samuel Gray was killed by a single ball entering his head, Crispus Attucks was killed by two balls entering his chest, and James Caldwell was killed by two balls entering his back (“Boston”). Benjamin Frizell, who was standing near the west corner of the Custom House before and at the time of the gun discharges, declared that the first discharge was of only one gun, the second discharge was of two guns, the third discharge was of three guns, immediately followed by the fourth and final discharge of five guns (“Boston”). He also declared that of the final discharge, two were from soldiers on the ground on Preston’s right side, but three discharges came from the balcony, or the chamber window, as the flashes appeared on the left side of Preston, and higher than the flashes of the other two discharges. This information shows that at least three soldiers were on the balcony and carefully took aim and
After O’Brien subconsciously tossed a grenade at a young soldier that killed the man, he absorbed in a state of shock and guilt upon examining the body. Unlike other passages where the author left the overall picture to our imagination, he emphasized the true sight of the young man providing the reader with meticulous descriptions of the injuries in this chapter. For example, through the eyes of O’Brien, he began by noticing the most distinct feature, the jaw lodged in his throat. Then, as if he was following O’Brien’s trail of sight, he proceeded to focus upwards, describing the mouth, the eyes, and finally the hair. Thus far, even though his statements were too detailed to be “true,” O’Brien seemed calm and composed. However, as the author’s

The use of foreshadowing in the short story urges the reader on, to figure out the long-awaited answers. When Rainsford, the protagonist of the story, hears the gunshots in the exposition of the story, the reader might pick up the foreshadowing hint that Connell drops. As Rainsford reclines on the boat, he hears a gun going off. He has wonderful hearing skills; he knows he “could not be mistaken” (15). A little while later, he hears them again, a “crisp, staccato” (16) sound, which he dubs a “pistol shot” (16). This gun must be important, the reader thinks, because of the detail the author put into this seemingly innocent item. Subtly, Connell also inserts a mention of the gun in a couple scenes throughout the beginning scenes. It is a necessary object. This anyone can tell by the author’s effort on it and Rainsford’s keen knowledge of the gun.
The Pakistani government was involved in an attack on Mumbai that killed over one hundred and fifty people. The captured militants who executed the attack were never brought to proper justice, an incarcerated terrorist confessed that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency aided the attack, and the Pakistani government freed the militant group’s commander for no plausible reason. Pakistan has denied all accusations of its’ involvement but evidence shows that they played a key role in this devastating siege.
The 1916 Easter uprising in Dublin was the spark which ignited and created the Irish Republican Army (Alonso, 2001; Arena & Arrigo, 2004; Hart, 1997; Page & Smith, 2000). In 1916, several republicans took up arms against the British. The British fought back and killed the rebel
The IRA split into two groups; The official IRA who wanted to achieve a United Ireland, and the Provisional IRA who thought of the British Army as an army of occupation and believed violence was the answer and would achieve their goal. Denial of Service (DoS) attack is a very common cyber menace that renders websites and other online means inaccessible to intended users. There are various types of DoS threats and nearly all directly target the core server structure. Others abuse weaknesses in application and communication proprieties. DoS is also used as a cover-up for other wicked actions, and to take down security applications like web firewalls. A prosperous DoS attack is very obvious and impacts the entire online user base.
