Epcot: The Walt Disney World Park

Disney World—the greatest place on earth. A place that anyone of age can have fun. According to the official webpage of Disney World, “the unforgettable happens [t]here”. Along with the opinions of many kids, teens, and adults, I agree that it is the greatest place on earth. The magical story book setting brings back the childhood nostalgia every American has felt in their life at least one time. However America is the only country to preserve the innocence from our childhood. But why? Why does America try so hard to protect our childhood innocence from the harsher reality?

The place I chose for the field trip proposal is Epcot theme park. I chose this place because of its diverse culture exhibits. Some reasons I picked this place are, they have many culture experience's, you can explore different culture in one day, and it a good place to taste the different foods and music across the world. It ties into humanity because it explores different countries that have impacted our society from the food to the music, to even our architecture. It also shows us the diverse countries and some of its history.

“Walt wanted to create an amusement park in which his cartoon characters could come to life and interact with the visitors.” A place where both parent and child could have fun. So in 1955 Walt purchased 160 acres of land in California and began the $17-million-dollar project to construct Disneyland. His vision of how he wanted to construct Disneyland was unpretentious. He wanted the entrance to embody a euphoric restoration of the conventional American main street. The goal was that people would walk down “Main Street, USA” and want to discover more by going to the other 4 different “dream lands,” he had creted: Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, and Tomorrowland. Epcot opened October 1st, 1982. Epcot was inspired by a futuristic world of tomorrow, and although that community did not come to fruition as he imagined, Epcot is dedicated to the celebration of human achievement, namely technological innovation and international culture and is often referred to as a permanent world’s fair. (The community he envisioned would be built years later and be known as Celebration – the town that Disney built.) The park is divided into two section – future world and the world showcase. With nearly 12 million guest in 2015, it is the third most sixth most visited theme park in the world. The park is represented by Spaceship Earth, a geodesic sphere that also serves as an attraction. Future World consists of a variety of pavilions that explore innovative aspects and application including technology and science, with each pavilion featuring self-contained attraction. Spaceship Earth, Innoventions, Mission: Space, the Test Track, the Seas with Nemo and Friends, Imagination!, Wonders of Life, and the Land are all part of this section. The World Showcase is a large area with 11 pavilions, each themed and dedicated to represent a specific country. The pavilions surround the World Showcase Lagoon. The eleven pavilions include: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan Morocco, France, the United Kingdom and Canada. Amusement parks are a great form of entertainment for families and individuals. Walt Disney World resort and Universal Orlando resort are two popular theme park destinations which provide enjoyment to many worldwide visitors on a daily basis. Although both resorts share similarities, they also have numerous differences which set them apart from each other – creating a unique vacation experience for each visitor.

As everyone always says, Disney World is the happiest place on earth, but for Iowans' we have Adventureland, where we are sure to have a fun filled day. To us Iowans', Disney World and Adventure are the two best theme parks we've ever known of! Both theme parks are full of happiness, good food and exciting rides, although Disney World and Adventureland have lots of differences and yet some similarities in hand. In this paper I am going to explain and list off the vast similarities and differences of Disney World and Adventureland!

“I’ve always been bored with just making money. Disney never wanted to be boring or be known as the man who did not have a childhood and was always pushed around by his father. Disney wanted to be successful in life, he wanted the name ‘Walt Disney’ to be remembered, and it will be forever. Disney has achieved many important and exciting accomplishments within his life. He created “full length animated films, short films, live-action features, and television shows” (LeeBron) Disney also introduced theme parks. He created Disneyland in Anaheim, California. He also developed Epcot which stands for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow”, and Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. Walt Disney was an important figure in the 1920s American History because he made a change to the world with the idea of bringing inanimate objects to life with cartoons and created all new kinds of happiness.

In this quote he does not only mean children but he means the people close to us in general, we must learn to sacrifice for others so that we're not the only ones becoming better but the people around us are too. Furthermore, when I was in sixth grade I was initially going to go on a two-day music trip to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, and I was very excited to finally head out into the world by myself without my parents holding my hand. The heart of Disneyworld was designed to be named “Experimental Prototype City of Tomorrow.” According to “History of Disney World” from lovetoknow.com, the park built its own energy plants, food centers, laundry, and their own airstrip to become the “self-sufficient and self-governed world” envisioned by Walt Disney. (Santiago, n.d.).

Cedar Point is known for a couple of things. It’s known as the roller coaster capital of the world. But some just refer to Cedar Point as the world’s best amusement park. Cedar Point is an amusement park that brings people together through thrills. With 120-mph roller coasters that have 80-degree drops. An amusement park that, on top of roller coasters, has exhilarating thrill rides. An amusement park that has rides for the entire family and gives you water rides that make you wonder why it’s simply only the roller coaster capital of the world. And, of course, Cedar Point amusement park gives you great dining. What else would you expect from the roller coaster capital of the world? Or, as some say, the best amusement park in the world. 2. Disney world is an amusement theme park that provides many options to the public.

I have created a new ride for the world to enjoy! It is called Crocodile River. Using a mix of CGI and animatronics, it brings giant crocodiles and colorful fish to life right before your eyes. However, you must beware of the crocodile that lives inside of the loop, and the swamp filled with these deadly reptiles. Will you be able to make it through, or will you have to face the croc?

Since the grand opening in 1971, Walt Disney World has continuously brought dreams to life. Walter Elias Disney and his brother Roy Oliver Disney cofounded Walt Disney World in hopes of encouraging imagination among all attendees. The park continues to grow and excite visitors from all over the world. Many people deem Walt Disney World as one of the best theme parks to exist. To make this evaluation one must consider the qualities successful theme parks possess. These include entertainment for all age groups, flexible options for health needs, advanced technology, and alluring themes. While Walt Disney World may be busy, it exhibits all the necessities of an excellent theme park.

Walt Disney Company had always been successfully operating theme park until 1992. Starting in 1955 where the first Disneyland set its foot at Anaheim, California and in 1983 in Florida (Hill, 2000). While in 1983, Disney faced a true challenge as they opened the first international Disneyland in Tokyo. In a fear of wide cultural differences between American and Japanese, it turned out an unexpected massive successful Tokyo Disneyland. As a result, Disney did not hesitate to invest a big sum of money for Euro Disney in Paris.
