Diversity, equality and fairness are the latest buzzwords being kicked around in academia and the media. Everybody is supposed to achieve the American Dream today, regardless of who you are, where you came from, or what you do to get there. According to their math, equality of opportunity equals equality of outcome, and if it doesn't, rig the formula so it does. I read a couple of articles in nj.com recently. In one, a Rutgers-Camden professor of Public Policy published a study that found that more poor people were being concentrated in small to mid-size cities today compared to ten years ago. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't cut their lawns that often, and weren't into home maintenance and repairs that our homeowners association requires. For instance, a ten foot piece of my neighbor's siding fell off two years ago and it's still sitting in his backyard where it landed. The other day I was in my backyard raking leaves, another chore my neighbors aren't into. I was looking around and noticed that three out of my four closest neighbor's properties were deteriorating. Bags of trash piling up, junk in the yard, siding not cleaned, repairs not made etc. Normally I wouldn't care, but I plan on moving out within a year or two, and I don't think any prospective buyer of my home would be impressed with the nouveau-trash, Camdenesque look of my neighborhood. Ironically, the one home that is being maintained has been vacant for the last five years, its owner dead four of those years. Fortunately, his heirs are taking care of the property until the estate is settled. I went online to look at my town's tax records. They have a nice website where you can view your payment history and see what you owe. You can also view the records of everyone else in town. I found that three of my neighbor's homes are owned by minority females. One passed away last year and her home is being rented out, even though it is still in her name. This is to invite your urgent attention to the constant garage and debris that has been accumulating on this site space 222 of Knolls Lodge Mobile Park in Torrance, California 90501 since 2014. For 2 ½ years this home has been an eye sore and a violation of the rental agreement at Knolls Lodge Mobile Park. As a result, heaps of garage, broken parts of metal, broken toys, washer and dryer, extension cords running all over the place, dry plants, car that is leaking oil on jacks, dog feces that is considered unhealthy, provides unsafe conditions and serious health hazards for the community, surrounding neighbors. I am the neighbor next door space 221 that has complaint that this resident has blocked my back door with these same obstructions

As long as an American woman is putting in the same amount of hours with the same qualifications and experience in the same occupation as an American male, and yet taking home a wage that is any lower, she is not being treated fairly as an equal. Contrary to many arguments, it’s undeniable that a wage gap exists, and while there are various ideas as to the most probable cause, there is no reason why this gap should continue to go uncorrected or unchanged. Our government should take concrete steps to close the gender wage gap because it violates women’s rights and equality.
I live in Charlotte North Carolina; I just purchased a home in a community called Ballantyne. This community is on what we consider the south side of Charlotte. In February of this year, members of my community were told that there was going to be a public housing development built on a seven acre lot that has been vacant for many years. An emergency community meeting was called; several of my neighbors packed the room, all wanting information about what and where Charlotte’s next public housing development could be built. The wage gap is the difference between the median earnings of women relative to median earnings of men. In this case, women earn a significant amount less than men. Although the wage gap has gotten smaller over the years, the wage gap still has a long way to go. Women deserve better than just minimum earnings. Full time, working women should obtain the best promotions and benefits. Women that work just as tough and have the equivalent qualifications as men do still earn less, and that is just unacceptable. The wage gap should be abolished on behalf of women of color and their struggle, equal pay is a global problem, equal pay benefits employers and workers, and the wage gap accumulates over time.

The economic boundaries for the southern part of Oklahoma City can run the gambit from residents below poverty level to those that would be considered to be upper-class in their monetary value. There are neighborhoods that many would not feel comfortable after dark because there has been a rise in crime to those areas. The zoning of these homes are single story, quarter acre lots that are approximately one thousand to fifteen hundred square feet. These impoverished areas have small, older homes that are two to three bedroom homes that are unkempt and, at times, are cockroach infested. The houses are built closely side by side and do not have much open space throughout the neighborhood. Most of these homes show signs of decay related to the amount of repairs that need to be made to the home. Many of the residents are renting and cannot afford to make the necessary repairs or have landlords that are unwilling to comply with the safety of their occupants. The stores in the south part of Oklahoma City are ones that cater to a lower income, such as, Payday loans, Buy For Less, Ross, Payless shoes, Wal Mart, etc.
Throughout the years the United States has faced many challenges with equal employment opportunities for everyone. The United States has developed The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, also known as the EEOC, to enforce laws that help prevent everyone from being treated unfairly when it comes to employment options. The EEOC has established stipulations and overlooks all of the federal equal employment opportunity regulations, practices and policies (“Federal Laws Prohibiting Job Discrimination Questions and Answers”). Some laws that have been passed are the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws have helped shape the workforce today and they have greatly contributed to the introduction of diversity in the working environment. No longer are people rejected of employment based on their race, gender, age, or disability. The labor force has increased from 62 million people in 1950 to over 159 million people in the labor force today (Toolsi). The passing of the EEO laws proved to be a great advancement in the diversity of the workforce and treatment of employees, but it was a tremendous battle to get where we are today. Before the passing of these laws, unequal treatment was normal and discrimination was common among the majority of employers. This made acquiring employment difficult and caused many people to be unemployed. Three Equal Employment Opportunity laws that helped diminish these discriminatory practices were Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, and the American with Disabilities Act of 1990. For each law, I will describe what it enforces and explain the actions that happened in society and the workplace that made these laws necessary. I will discuss important political figures that contributed to the passing of these laws. Lastly, I will examine how each law has improved human resources and has led to better management of employees overall.
