What was Gatsby’s downfall?
Gatsby’s downfall was that he did immoral actions to achieve his dream, how far would Gatsby go to accomplish his dream?
To begin with, Gatsby wanted to steal Daisy from Tom and wants her to say that she never loved Tom Buchanan (pg. 137-140). Gatsby said “Your wife doesn’t love you, She’s never loved you. She loves me.” This exclamation rebounded to him after Tom explained “The trouble is that sometimes she gets foolish ideas in her head and doesn’t know what she is doing.” which is directed towards Daisy showing that what happened between Gatsby and Daisy was by accident. This incident was based on the fact that Gatsby wanted enjoyment of watching Daisy and Tom break their relationship after all those years, this shows the iniquity side of Gatsby. After the dispute over Gatsby and Tom dissipated, Tom explained how Gatsby was a thief and he got his money through felonious ways. “He and this Wolfshiem bought up a lot of side-street drug stores in Chicago and sold grain alcohol over the counter.” (pg. 141) What Gatsby was wanting from this was Tom to suffer for taking Daisy away from him, and peer pressure Daisy into saying things she didn’t really mean to say.

128) Gatsby only wanted Daisy because she was born with prestige and because she had old money, his intentions were that if Gatsby was with Daisy nobody would disturb him about how he got his money. When Gatsby achieved love with Daisy the major problem was that Gatsby was wanting to “Repeat the past” Gatsby wanted the good times back when he wasn’t poor and Daisy was his only love (pg. 118 and 139). In the book “The Great Gatsby” there is many things that people say made Gatsby a great or a not so much of a great person. Gatsby was a great man because he became someone with almost everything anybody could and would want but grew up from with nothing, He made all this money from working jobs that were not so great and people envied him for it even though they did not know what he did, and he was just a very mysterious and many people found that very intriguing about him. person For people that didn’t know who he was when he was younger, they all expect him to be old money and get the money from his parents, but as we learn he made his money by working, good or bad jobs he still made money and he was successful and he was proud of it.

Jay gatsby is a wealthy person he only trusts a few people in the novel like Nick Carraway and he is surprised there are people like him. The story The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald takes you through the life of the protagonist of the novel, Jay Gatsby, who is shot to death in the end. Who was really the reason for Gatsby’s death? There are many of reasons that lead up to Gatsby’s death and several people who are considered to have caused it. Although George Wilson physically killed him, Tom Buchanan, Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby himself all take part in the death. Tom’s anger, Daisy’s carelessness, and Gatsby’s idea of the American Dream all contribute to his death in the end.

(84) Gatsby's obsession with her seems shockingly unilateral, and it is clear to the reader that she will not leave Tom for him. You can also see why this confession is a blow to Gatsby. He has dreamed of Daisy for years and sees her as his one true love, while she not even can marshal her love of Gatsby over her love for Tom. Gatsby is too desperate and obsessed, and does not understand that he must move on as it is impossible to get back Daisy. This can also be explained by Daisy’s as we get an insight at her real feelings. As she sad in the quote, she loved them both, and to her those were equal loves. But, she has not put that initial love with Gatsby on a pedestal the way Gatsby has. Unlike Gatsby, Daisy is more tragic, a loving woman who has been corrupted by greed. She chooses the security of money and comfort over real love, and therefore he will never get back

The deaths of three of the main characters and the failure of Gatsby and Daisy's romance can be viewed as tragic. However, a deeper analysis of the book reveals a much deeper tragedy.
Last night was all a blur. It was definitely one of the most memorable night of my life. Everyone was all done up in expensive and ornate clothing. I felt so plain in my simple party dress.
