For this project, I chose to go to a concert with my parents at Honky-Tonk Texas, a bar they regularly attend. I chose this place because I have never been and I wanted to see how my parents spend their nights out. The method of observation that was used was asking questions, taking notes, and participating. Participation at the bar included activities like dancing, trying the food, and singing along to the band. Honky-Tonk Texas, The bar, was located in Silsbee, Texas near the Wal-Mart. The bar featured a medium sized, sealed concrete dance floor, about five pool tables, and there was a 6’x 6’ window toward the middle of the large room. The window is where the restaurant is located. The bar was very loud, dark, and had a strong smell of smoke even though there are no smoking signs posted around the building. The setting was very relaxed and welcoming, although most people had on their finest country and western attire. The people were dancing, laughing, and enjoying the food served from the hole in the wall restaurant. Most women were wearing jeans embellished with rhinestones, a rhinestone belt, and western styled boots. The people all seemed to be middle-class …show more content…
Even with no knowledge on how to two-step it is easy to learn because of the willingness of the other people to help. The couples twirling around the dance floor all seemed to be synchronized. Every pair of dancers took the same steps, but the styles varied. Even first time dancers can find the confidence to dance with a more experienced partner and have fun while doing so. Overall, a trip to Honky-Tonk Texas is a very pleasant experience. The people were kind and full of life. One would have a very enjoyable time here, as the other people are friendly and do not exclude
The mountain ranges in the Mountains and Basins section of Texas are made up of more than 150 mountains. Plateaus, basins and deserts make up the area’s other geographical features, which include the Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande. The Mountains and Basins region covers more than 41,000 square miles and is the windiest and driest part of the state, receiving only eight inches of rain annually in the basins and deserts and about 20 inches per year in the mountains. Hot days and cool nights characterize the area’s normal weather patterns.
Texas, nicknamed “The Lone star State”, has always been very unique compared to any other state in the United States of America. Texas have a sense of great pride in where they come from. Texans hold their heads a just a little higher than anyone else. Texas is the second largest state in the U.S., Texans have their own pledge of allegiance to the state flag, and is the only state whose flag is permitted to fly as high as the American flag. So, why is it that Texans take so much pride in their own state? Texans take great pride in their state because at one point before Texas was a state belonging to the United States, it was its own country. This is how Texas got its name as the “Lone star” State. In nineteenth century, Texas fought many battles against Mexico and its leader Santa Anna, to gain Independence from the country. After many hostel wars and lives lost, Texas made a break through at the Battle of San Jacinto and conquered the Mexican government in the year 1836, becoming the new Republic of Texas. It then remained Independent for almost ten years. Our Independence and history of secession runs through our veins. The topic is a reoccurring one when it comes to politics. In recent years, there have been talks if Texas should secede from the United States again like they did in 1836. According to a poll in 2009, it showed that “50% Republicans, 40% Independents, and 15% Democrats believed that Texas should stand as an independent nation.” “338157 Texans have already
Texans a truly country and they love them some country music. Their accent is like no other. When you hear a Texan talk, you must stop and think what they mean. You begin to question your sanity when you talk to a Texans. I didn’t know if I should be insulted or appreciated about what they said. You begin to understand them after being down here after some time, but that’s what most people say about

Sipping on iced-cold sweet tea, I watch multiple waiters gather up and begin line dancing to loud country music that plays in the background. By the time im almost halfway through with my beverage and almost full due to the warm, freshly baked rolls, a smiling waitress brings my family our food. She kindly places down our meal, tells us to enjoy and leaves to let us chow down. Resting on the plate in front of me is a thick, juicy piece of rib eye steak thats paired with loaded mashed potatoes and freshly cooked vegetables. Texas Roadhouse has come to be one of my favorite restaurantst to dine at. They provide excellent food complimented by great service and the unique atmosphere of the restaurant is full of energy and always has some type of entertainment going on.
Before my big move to Houston about three years ago for college, it was my last summer back home in a little city called Amarillo, which is considered “West Texas,” although it’s actually located geographically north within the heart of the Texas Panhandle. I was enjoying every last bits of the time that I’ve had left with my friends and family. The last thing I could think of worrying about during that summer was a romantic relationship. My intentions were to make bittersweet memories and to have what they would call, fun. I went out almost every single weekend for the first month of my last summer and met tons of friends and I became closer to old casual friends. Within that first month of consistently going out and hanging out with all these friends that I became close to, I met a very sweet, charming, and interesting guy named Andy. Something about him caught my attention. He was silly and funny without even trying, so I took an interest in him. We started messaging each other on Facebook then texting and making polite conversations. Before I knew it, this was the starting point to a whole new friendship. When he first messaged me, as much as I hesitated to respond to him because I knew I was moving and I did not want to develop feelings just leave everything behind, I wanted to not just respond but to strike more conversations. I became curious about him and I wanted to find out more and more.

The men run around the oil rig drilling and drilling until suddenly they hit something. The men race down the oil rig, and stand there shocked. Then finally black, gooey, liquid gold starts shooting up, and the men celebrate their victory. Little do they know that they are about to be millionaires, and make a major social impact on the rest of Texas. The state of Texas is known for their great soil to farm, but that's not the only thing that they will be known for now.
Known as the era that caused many reforms in the US, the Antebellum period was very impactful on the US’ future. Loosely known as the Plantation Era, the Antebellum era was the period, before the Civil War. Throughout the Period, many people known as “Reformers” focused on changing things in everyday life. They mainly focused on changing major things in America’s social, political, and religious life, however, it was a large movement which took many years to accomplish everything. Due to these reforms, there was a change in the US’ society, religion, and politics. This means that the reforms were mainly focused on slavery, education, and belief in religion. The main events were education reforms, the Great Awakening, and abolitionism. Each
I chose to write this essay on a famous deaf person that completely changed the history of the United States and forever changed the history of the state of Texas. This Deaf man could moreover be singly part of the only reason the Texans do not speak fluent Spanish as their first language that was born in the early part of 18th century. The reason I chose this individual is because of my intrigue of American history, moreover, through my research I found that he introduced a fine stock of Muley (meaning hornless) cattle from Louisiana to the San Antonio area, where the Longhorn breed was previously popular. My intent of this paper is to bring the history of an extraordinary Deaf man to light with his trials and triumphs.
A rich part of American history takes place in Texas around the early to middle part of the nineteenth century. During this time period, Texas became a region of American settlement. The price to pay for that settlement, however, ranged on a variety of levels for the different cultures and races of people living there. During this time period, three different groups of people lived in this region. These groups included the Cherokee Indians, Mexicans, and European settlers. Before times of conflict, these three ethnic groups coexisted on the land in peace. However, the Mexican-American War of 1836 changed the region of Texas. After the war, the American settlers pushed for the removal of the Mexicans and

Marty Robbins, a traditional and even glorified country singer, sang a song that focuses on Justice. To be more precise, to make the statement which pertains to Justice, “That it always come in due time.” In this song, which is quite like a sung story, more so than other songs, we learn about a Ranger and an Outlaw, and their duel in the Old West. We are initially informed of the arrival of the Ranger; however, we are then told of the sins of the Outlaw. “But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead - Twenty men had tried to take him twenty men had made a slip (Robbins)” Using this reference, one is able to determine that the outlaw, Texas Red is quite notoriously heinous. This progresses our “plot” by showing the nature of the antagonist.
