What age do you want to start making decisions for yourself? When do you want to finally grow up and be an adult? At age 18, you should be considered an adult. By now you can make your own decisions and grow up. When your 18 you have more freedom and more responsibility. You change from relying so much on your parents, to relying on yourself.

When should someone be considered a responsible adult? In many cases this is a hard question to answer. Most people believe that the ages between 18 and 21 is when a person should be considered a responsible adult. The laws and society are sending mix messages to teens and adults around the world. In the article “What Is The Age Of Responsibility?” say that the world expects the youth to grow up fast put restrictions on them. The world need to make up their minds on when someone is considered a responsible adult.

What is the right age of responsibility, where a teenage is entitled as an adult? Some say 18 and lower, while others say 21 and higher. Before we continue, we should discuss what maturity is. According to Wikipedia, the definition of maturity is “ a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate and adaptive manner.” This response is generally learned rather than instinctual, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses awareness of the correct time and place to behave, knowing when to act with appropriate emotion for the situation. Maturity incorporates personal accountability, meaning you take ownership of situations you are involved in. By following one’s conscience, you are taking personal accountability.

I believe maturity is not dependent on a person’s age because humans are affected by different situations, are different genders and are raised differently.

I do not believe that age has anything to do with maturity. I believe that the experiences someone has makes them mature;in addition, I also believe that what a person has been through has a lot to do with it.

In my opinion, i think this because when you are younger some kids are immature, this means that kids would be childish towards something or someone. My first example is when you get older and you have a family and kids, you don’t horseplay in the stores like you did when you were younger, you have to be mature and act like an adult. Another reason is when you get older you have to think of the people around you and think of their needs and wants of other people around that will help you cultivate a reputation as a mature and respectful individual. My last reason to support my second reason is when you get older and you have a family you can't drink, and go to parties and come home late all drunk and be abusive to your wife or kids. That reason is being immature and not taking responsibility for your actions. You need to think before you do, think of what an adult would do, not what a jerk would

If people are still treated like minors and not allowed to drink, That's when they start acting irresponsible. If you treat a person like a kid, they tend to act like a kid. According to the the US Army, a man or woman is allowed to serve in the military and protect our country. I believe that is one of the most responsible things you can trust a person at the age of 18 with. So by not allowing the man or woman to drink at the age of 18 is just being hypocritical. Discussions arise among Americans in regards to changing the drinking age to 18. Is this a good idea, or are we just trying to accommodate for the way we treat young adults? Several studies show that when the drinking age is 21, older adults are happier about it. “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated that National Minimum Drinking Age of 21 decreased the number of fatal traffic accidents for 18- to 20-year-olds by 13% and saved approximately 27,052 lives from 1975-2008” (ProCon.org). Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those who don’t have any they can be lacking in many things and most people will see them as drags on society. Not only that, but they seem to have negative impressions with everyone else as they do not really help contribute to the betterment of mankind but that is how most people act in today’s world. But they still seem to go on and make the best of the day that they can. Responsibility is hard for a lot of people, it puts stress on you and makes people think you’re dependent so they might start asking more from you. That saying, my life would be much better than it already is if I took reasonability for my Self in more ways than one.
