Introduction
From my studying in this unit, I understand that air pollution transpires in various patterns, however, it can generally be thought of as gaseous and particulate contaminants that are existing in the earth’s atmosphere.
Chemicals discharged into the air that has a direct impact on the environment are called primary pollutants. These primary pollutants sometimes react with other chemicals in the air to produce secondary pollutants.
Air pollution has become a very high-priced environmental predicament when one views it in line with human lives and looking at it from the perspective of repairing damages in humans the money spent on health care and also crop damage.
Basically, air pollution introduces toxic materials into the

Also, we have a many small and large industries in my city I learnt that during production when carbon monoxide hydrocarbons, organic compounds, chemicals are being released in to the air it causes huge amount of air pollution, thinking about this I now understand why my grandfather never wanted to live in the city he always complains about a large carpet manufacturing company in my city, at the back of the factory is a large pipe that let out smoke from the machine he said it smells bad.
In summary, air pollution comes mainly from motor vehicles and electric generators. The rampant burning of refuse in the open atmosphere is also a contributor. But in my community, the main source among these three sources is motor vehicles.
How my community compares to others: From a Thisday online publication 2016 mention, according to CNN, four of the worst cities in the world for air pollution are in Nigeria, according to data released by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Onitsha a city few outside Nigeria will have heard of has the undignified honour of being labelled the world’s most polluted city for air quality, when measuring small particulate matter concentration (PM10). From the CNN report it further explain that the other three cities named and shamed in the WHO report for high PM10 levels are the transport hub of Kaduna, in the
Although much improvement has been made, there is still more to be done. Spencer states that “In 2011, the American Lung Association ranked Birmingham the eight-worst city in the nation for particle pollution, or soot” (An Old Cloud of Polluted Air Lifts from Birmingham’s Shoulders). Birmingham’s attempts at improving air quality have been valuable, but the air in Birmingham is still dirty when compared to other industrial cities.
Air pollution is generally any substance that people introduce into the atmosphere that has damaging effects on living things and the environment.(www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/pollution/) There are many causes, effects and many reasons like the environment, public health, and any other reasons. Air pollution is harmful for our present and future lives and should be avoided at all costs.
Another big problem in polluting places and things is air pollution which can make air foggy, unbreathable, and toxic. According to “34 Facts about Pollution”, the text states breathing the air in Mumbai, India, for just one day is equivalent to smoking 100 cigarettes. One of the things that can cause air pollution is releasing factory fuels and fossil fuels into the air. We also cause it from burning certain things like plastic, chemicals, and other
There are two main types of air pollution, particulate matter (PM) and ozone. Particulate matter is some tiny dust. For example, according to a beam of light at night there are countless dusts floating in the air. They are particle. Ozone is an invisible chemical gas in the air. When these gas touch with light will become smog. Factory and vehicles exhaust emissions have become the largest cause of PM and ozone pollution in the United States. If a plant wants to run, they need to burn fuel to provide power; however, a lot of particulate matter will float in the air when the factory burns fuel. When people drive cars can
Poor air quality is associated with some health issues from the short-term problems to severe
The most prominent example of this is Salt Lake City. It is the largest city in Utah, and it is also the most polluted. This is a problem for the citizens of Salt Lake City. The levels of pollution there have more frequently reached unhealthy levels in recent years. This creates a serious health risk to both those with breathing problems and those who are perfectly healthy. “For the last few years, [Salt Lake City] has been grappling with one of the nation's most vexing pollution problems, where atmospheric inversions during the winter months lead to a thick fog of dirty air cloaking the region.” (Seen) It is a severe problem that has only gotten worse with time. Just last year, Salt Lake
Everyone in the New York metropolitan area breathes air that fails to meet the health standards, and citizens suffer serious health impact from breathing that dirty air. The relationship between air pollution and health affects everyone. Air pollution is constantly affecting people and putting them at sick, even though the degree of pollution is not at its highest. The public health significance of smoke, dust, gas, pollen, and microorganisms in the air are with a range of adverse health effects. These diseases spread and cause new disease to originate. Exposure to common urban air link to a wide range of adverse health outcomes, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, asthma exacerbation, reduced lung function and premature death.
Air pollution is an issue that effects us all unfortunately, but in some cases it affects some more than others. In my case I live around downtown Springfield were it is considered the urban area, which is a culturally mixed neighborhood. Urban areas are affected by air pollution the most, and in my opinion it's because they are always the high populated areas. In the state of Massachusetts there are several programs that contribute to solving the issue of air pollution.
New York City has a significant air pollution problem that causes death for hundreds of people year round. Researchers at NYU’s medical school have reported that just
What is air pollution? The online webster dictionary says,”Air pollution is the contamination of air by smoke and harmful gases, mainly oxides of carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen.” Air pollution is caused by both human and natural events. Natural events include fires, volcanic activity, erosion of the wind and many other things as well. Human events include manufacturing activities such as factories and workshops as well as burning fossil fuels and chemicals used for farming and household activities. There are many substances, minerals, and chemicals. Sometimes the air could
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
Air pollution is one of the biggest causes of environmental impact in any region. Therefore, air quality needs to be evaluated and maintained for avoiding health hazards. According to WHO, air pollution claims more than 2.4 million lives each year (WHO, 2002). Cities have to face more air pollution problems as compared to
Air pollution is caused by the combustion of motor vehicle fuel. This fills the air with small, unnoticeable particles of soot and dust (Reese). This is a major health concern for the entire world population. Air pollution causes immediate health problems including cardiovascular illness and stress to the lungs. There are also serious long term, permanent health effects such as accelerated lung aging, brain damage, learning disabilities, and overall shortened life span (Reese and Spare the Air). These issues are already affecting lives today, therefore can only further affect the lives of our children and generations after them. In order to sustain human life, we need to take this issue into our own hands to protect the planet. This is as simple as creating standards of how much greenhouse gasses can be emitted per city, even per country.
At the first, what is air pollution? The air pollution is contamination of air by the discharge of harmful substances. We’ve got many pollutants, which cause air pollution. Like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, lead and many more. All of these pollutants can cause lot of illnesses, like cancer, birth defects, brain and nerve damage, long-term injury to the
Automobiles are undeniable the greatest source of pollution. The noise pollution created by cars is immense. Another polluting effect of cars is the heat it creates. This heat makes it unpleasant to be near the car while its running. And of course the most famous
