The ability to analyze and depict the elements that are portrayed in an image is a skill that is practical to own. In your educational career, throughout most subjects you are given hundreds of images to look at. Some are simple and straightforward, and others have a much more deeper meaning to what is really going on. Having the skill to analyze an image and depict all the elements gives you a clearer and broader sense of what is going on. For example the image I have chosen to analyze is of a young jewish girl by the name of Anne Frank who wrote a diary about hiding with her family in Amsterdam during World War II.
Content is the specific objects or subjects being presented in the picture. The main object is in the picture is the young girl who is Anne Frank. She appears to be young and hopeful of something as her eyes are big. It looks like she brown hair and a slightly bigger nose and those characteristics were deemed bad by the Nazi’s. So it wasn’t like she could hide her identity unlike others.
The framing of the photo is referring to what is included in the surrounding boundaries of the image. In this photo, we have Anne Frank in the center of image with a slight grin gazing at something. Around her, there is this smokey, gray, cloud like surrounding her. Almost like the background of where she took that photo had no color. This gives the picture a mysterious and dark tone to the photo.
Composition refers how everything is layout whether there are objects in
Ever played a game of hide and seek? Well it was slightly like that for the Franks (A Jewish family living during the Holocaust) except they were forced to play, and if caught the consequences were deadly. The theme of Anne Frank is human growth involves pain, this is the theme because life can’t flow smoothly without a few bumps, there's always a few things you have to get past first. Anne Frank and her family were forced into hiding because they were Jewish, and Jewish people were discriminated against and killed in concentration camps during the Holocaust.
The events recounted in Anne Frank’s Diary took place during World War 11. By 1933, the strongest party in Germany had gained ultimate power with Hitler under their command. Hitler was Germany’s dictator who spread his gospel of racial hatred through politics. While poverty and unemployment were at an all time high he launched a campaign of anti-Semitism. Hitler’s main target was the Jews, claiming that they were “racially inferior.” He developed an idea of a Master Aryan Race, the need to rid Germany of “inferior people”, such as Jews and Gypsies, and the need to expand Germany’s borders. In doing this, he caused many Jews to abandoned their homes and go into total isolation. The Frank family
Anne Frank died, but she has left a very inspirational legacy behind. During her life, Anne was a very optimistic person. She loved to think of the best things in life. She was very caring too, comforting people when they were down. Her feelings about some people and some situations changed at times, but she has always felt the same about one thing. Anne believed that people are really good at heart because she is a kind and caring individual. Why would she think this way in that situation? What does this say about her as a person?
“It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” (Anne Frank) Anne Frank was one of the many children who fell victim to the Holocaust during the World War II. Anne’s story is nothing short of a tragedy; she died at the early age of fifteen from Typhus while being held by the Nazi Regime, in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. Before dying, Anne and her family went into hiding and lived secretly in her father's office building in the Netherlands. While living in the “Annex,” a secret hiding place, she developed many interests such as reading and writing. Anne is famous because she is one of the best-known victims of the Holocaust, her story has been shared with millions in a publication of her diary, and through her writing’s she introduces many people to the massacre and its horror.
This literary work truly shows how Anne Frank was a martyr of racism and an insightful chronicler of her time period and place. The work also shows the typical adolescence of Anne Frank and her constant arguments with her mother in particular. It also deals with the day to day hiding she and her family went through. The only problem with the book is that the fact that Anne Frank rewrote her diary about two months before she was captured because she wanted her journal to be published after the war and she wanted to peruse a career in journalism. Therefore it is hard to tell what existed in her original copy and how much did she add afterwards.
How would you feel if you had to go into hiding for 2 years? Anne Frank had to go into hiding with her family, the Van Daan family, and Mr. Dussel. They all were in a small annex above Mr. Frank’s old business. As you can imagine there were a lot of fighting and at the end Anne still said “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” I agree with Anne because everything they all went through in 2 years: people stealing food, fighting almost everyday, and families almost getting thrown out of the annex, she still believed that people were good at heart. The reason I agree with Anne is that she was trying to change even though people were mean. At least she was trying to fix her attitude unlike others. Although I can see why other people would argue that some people are bad at heart, because Mr. Van Daan and his selfishness, and greediness.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but maybe they are worth far more than that. Pictures, although seemingly simple in nature, are extremely complex. Far too often, people overlook what a picture truly is. When a person looks at an image, they most likely see only the image, nothing else. Many people do not look deep enough into an image to fully comprehend the true meaning of it. However, when an individual begins to truly study an image in an attempt to understand the true complexity of it, they will be surprised at what they overlooked before. As stated by French Realist Painter, Gustave Courbet, “Fine art is knowledge made visible.”
love with Anne; "Peter loves me not as a lover but as a friend and
One thing they have in common is they are all where home schooled. They all believed in the star of David religion. They are all Jewish kids or teens living in the secret annex with other families. They all died differently. However, I think this is where the similarity between the three teenagers ends.
Discrimination is now becoming a well-known term around the world; many acknowledge it from the time they came across: sexism, racism, ageism, and the type Anne Frank came across, persecution. Anne Frank was a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl who was hiding from the German Army or the Nazi’s, as they are better recognized back then. Her life story consisted of constantly escaping and being in isolation from those who wanted her dead; it was a difficult time to live in. Anne Frank was attacked because of her differences; Adolf Hitler (leader of the Nazi’s) was killing anyone who was not classified as “pure” or part of the “superior race”.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank was published in 1947. When the book was published a lot of people were impacted. It started getting more and more famous all around the world. In no time 30 million copies of the book was sold. Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett decided to make a play based on Anne Franks book. The play was a huge success and it was nominated for 8 Oscars and won 3. After George Stevens decided to make a movie about Anne Frank. There were some famous actors in the movie like, Shelley Winters playing Mrs. Van Pels and Millie Perkins as Anne Frank (pg.282, The Diary of a Young Girl).

Anne Frank had a numerous amount of tragic events during her lifetime that scared her and her family throughout their existence. Although, she did have a few high-points that would continue her legacy. Anne Frank suffered as a Jew in various circumstances, she had a cruel time while she was hiding from the vicious Germans, and the dairy that was written by Anne modified a variety of people.
I’ve been reading about Anne Frank. She was a writer; she, tells about her stories about life. She would write stories about what goes on in other people’s lives and also her friends. Anne was very much a chatterbox, she would never stop talking about stuff. However; Anne, was forced to speak in only a whisper voice during the two years of hiding from the Nazis. Hiding from the Nazis was the hardest thing she had to do without talking much, but she still wrote stories and you're here to hear stories she wrote.
