The maps were created by using a Census Data file and a Boundary file of Ontario and were opened on ArcMap. From there, the string variable (DAUID) was changed into a numeric variable (GEOUID) and joined together with the Census Data file creating a link between the two files. The link was saved as well as the spatial and attribute databases. Within that layer, Toronto/Halton boundary maps were cut out through the attribute table and were created as new shapefiles as base maps for the creation of other maps. Opening MapInfo, the shapefile was brought in as a table and saved as a workspace. Alterations were needed to make the map have appropriate projections and units. For the vector maps, themes were added by using a range of different …show more content…
On the Halton maps, there is a high percentage of people that didn’t attend post-secondary around the Halton Hills and Milton area, while the high unemployment rate areas seemed to be only in a small area within Halton Hills. Many areas within Milton have low unemployment rates, but do have a high percentage of people with no post-secondary education. This is because of the great job market within Halton Region. Looking at Figure 3.2, it is evident of all the empty space there is on the map. Considering that point and looking at a land use map of the region, it is evident that all the empty space on the map represents green space and agriculture land within the region. With all this green space and agriculture land gives a great employment area that is the dark purple boundaries surrounding the white space on the west side. Viewing the Toronto maps, it doesn’t have much variance between the unemployment rate and the number of people who have no post-secondary education. With that point, I conclude that not all people with no post-secondary education are unemployed. While many people say that it is all about the education you have that will kick-start your career, Halton Region defies those odds with the great agriculture industry they have. I believe a vector format is the best format to display the two variables. A vector map is great for anything that has defined boundaries and features like the census data. In a vector map, each boundary
Dear friends and students of UTA, I humbly come to you with a simple argument, one that is close to my heart. Though it may sound trivial, the argument has been raging on for three decades, and has grown to a nation wide debate. The question: is there such thing as a gaming community? Again, the question may sound inconsequential, but consider this fellow Mavericks, what makes a community? Is it just a group of people meeting and having a good time? Or is it more? Is something like gaming able to unite people from all across the world? Admittedly, the argument is rather close to my heart. I have been interested games since the age of five. I
The United States is the third most populated country in the world. This country holds about 4.5% of the world’s population. The U.S. population is currently estimated to have 308.7 million persons. This number is more than double of the population from 1950. Besides the fact of the population has doubled its size, the population has also become qualitatively different from the one from 1950. As noted by the Population Reference Bureau, “The U.S. is getting bigger, older, and more diverse.” The growth of the population is the result of the trends over time in the relationship of increased births, decreased deaths, and increased net immigration.
There are many ways to define Northern Ontario, however, I believe the most accurate geological definition of Northern Ontario was defined by the Ontario Census Division. Northern Ontario encompasses over a large percentage of provincial landmass, stretching from Parry Sound, north to the shores of Hudson Bay, west to the border of Manitoba and east to the border of Quebec (Map Two). Most of Northern Ontario is situated on the Canadian Shield which is characterized by a vast rocky plateau and lakes. In the video “Nine Rivers”, four men on a canoeing trip heading north to Hudson’s Bay, captured the beauty of Northern Ontario. They described the waterways that ranged from small creeks to massive bodies of moving water as an era of great
“Times and conditions change so rapidly that we must keep our aim constantly focused on the future”. This is a quote by one of the most successful and innovative men to ever live, Walt Disney. He was successful because he constantly kept looking to make a better future for himself and others. He did this through interactions with the world and everything around him. Interactions such as these can push mankind forward. They lead to innovations that revolutionize the world we live in. It only takes one great idea to change the world and make it a better place for everyone. Human geography deals with how human actions influence and impact other humans and the world’s environment.
1. In a compared map of the Holy Land and the state of New Jersey, there are not a lot of differences in the amount of land. Although the Holy Land does not provide important resources, people have been fighting over it throughout history.
Two key informants were within census tract 1220.01; one key informant was out of the census tract. Among these three people were: a household member of the community, an educator, and a librarian which was out of the census tract. The questions and answers were as follows:
Jobless rates are higher for those who don 't have a college degree. In my point of view it might not be necessary if you want to struggle in life trying to get a better paying job. Yes there is jobs that don 't require you to have a degree but there is a few and would most likely be a fast food places.
In the text they used ‘pretty bloody extraordinary’ to describe the project the Paterson is undertaking, the words give off an air of passion to the project. The writer gives off the impression that the whole project is extraordinary with words ‘grand, epic and phrases like ‘not a single soul’.
1. The reasons why some buildings are in the floodplains is because of agricultural industry. Another reason is population growth and expansion into those areas where people felt safe because of improvements of levees. Even though people were told about the dangers most people relied on disaster insurance instead of flood insurance. There should be laws that prohibit further development of these areas because it is costing the taxpayers lots of money for people that want to live in these areas that know the risks. If there were laws in place they could use some of the land as soccer fields and football fields as overflow ponds if they do want to build in a floodplain they need to raise the ground up by hauling in soils that will let the water pass through into those overfill ponds.
The enviromnet plays a huge role in the way they live in Africa. Where a region is located has a very big impact on the activities that are able to take place there. If a place is too hot or too cold, certain plants are not able to grow there. Also, too much rainfall or not enough rainfall can help or prevent certain plants from growing. In Africa your specific location in regards to elevation, and the equator, the climate and the natural resources all play a role in Africa's economy.
The map is a functional region. A functional region is one with a node or a focal point and diffuses outward. On this map, Denver is the focal point. All flights are based in Denver and then extend outward. The concentration of flights are higher, when you are closer to Denver and slowly decrease as you move out of the US.
“Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. Those whom God has so joined together, let no man put asunder.” ~(John F. Kennedy) Geography has impacted countries and regions dissimilarly throughout the duration of history. Geography influences the historical and social development of a country or region. These features can either cause an area to be hindered or prosperous in its development. Likewise, the Tigris and Euphrates rivers of Mesopotamia were essential because it provided fertile soil for crops, trade, transport and the necessities to food sources. Also, the mountainous terrain of Greece caused the country to have independent city- states. The mountains
The map represents the racial distribution in America. Researchers used the 2010 U.S Census to create the map where one dot was used to represent one person ethnicity. In the map there is a variety of colors that represent the individual race. For instance, the whites are represented by blue, Afro-Americans by green, Asians by red, Latino by orange, and “others” are represented by brown.
In order to provide the Australia Park Victoria with the appropriate data to solve its current crisis, the most appropriate method of data collection for this research is the qualitative method. According to Gay and Airasian (p 627) qualitative method is the collection of extensive data on various variables over a long time in a natural setting with an aim of acquiring insights not possible using other methods. It involves three different kinds of information collection: direct observation, in depth and open-ended interviews and written documents. Qualitative method involves use of random sampling and structured data collection instruments that fit different experiences. The method also enables the researcher to study the specific area of
This report sets out to describe the HR professional map and identify the skills, behaviours and knowledge in Band 2 that I consider most essential in the Employee relations role.
