The definition of freedom “is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint”. Additionally, it can be defines as “the absence of subjugation in domination or despotic governments” or “not being imprisoned or enslaved”. Freedom is a big part of all citizens of the United States, as it is a core concept to our national identity. That being said, there are many ways that it relates to the average life of the American. The following is how freedom relates to my individual way of life.
Freedom provides the ability to pursue dreams and goals. Freedom is the idea that I’m able to accomplish whatever I set my mind to because I work hard to do such a thing. Freedom is the idea that I’m able to pursue these goals without a fear of being isolated based off of my gender or my race. Freedom relates to my way of life because it dictates what I accomplish as well as how I feel about my professional and personal life. I know that freedom is a way of life for most Americans as it is part of our national culture. This being said, I would like to emphasize that freedom is a huge part of my way of life because I see freedom as the ability to increase my abilities and better my circumstances. The reason I’m bringing this up is because females on a grand scale; recently received the ability to vote, recently received the ability to work, and recently received the ability to reproduce at our own pace. Without gender stigmas, we have been able to branch out into management and we are still moving towards being completely free sexually. Freedom of being able to become our own person without having to rely on having a “great husband”, and pursue our own achievements is noteworthy. Should I have been born 100 years ago, that freedom would not have been possible. I would not be able to make a name for myself. I would be reliant on the name of my husband,
