Gun violence In the united states , gun control is a very big argument. Many people have different opinions on this issue, some believe that guns are very dangerous to be kept with a normal citizen, and it should only be used by the National Guard and law enforcement. Some people follow the second amendment which deals with the bearing of arms by citizens. National Rifle Association thinks that it's ok to use guns for safety/ although it could be dangerous to hurt someone by accident or shoot someone by accident if these people are not trained to use guns. It should be a license for it where people should be trained to use guns or ele we will end up losing so many lives either in public or houses. It is clear that the use of …show more content…
Kleck who thinks that by giving drivers safety lessons to avoid accidents. Not only this but also teaching common sense, although it has nothing to do with everyday accidents. Children who use guns on their fellow classmates might have some kind of mental issues that makes them different from normal children. One question would be why are guns used in the first place? why do we need guns in the first place other than in the National Guard and law enforcement? Well the answer is that we need to protect ourselves, but from what? Well, other people who have guns. Not only the military uses guns to protect us from terrorists coming from outer countries or people who might want to take over the country. But also people who live among us and might be violent therefore the use of gun is necessary in this case. One might also ask how can a normal person like you and I protect himself/herself from someone who is aggressive well in this we can use any type of a gun like a knife or something metal to hit them with it in this case we will not end up going to prison since we are protecting ourselves. Someone sees other people buying guns and decides that they also need one because so many others have them. In this case, people might have a license to carry guns while you don’t. You might say well i need to buy handguns to keep my family from danger. With that being said, any other home gun can be used like it was mentioned earlier in the essay, knife, metal stick and it won't be pleaded guilty for hitting
The relevance of gun violence has been on the rise today and often one cannot walk away from the news without hearing a story related to gun violence either being covered or displayed on the news ticker scrolling through the screen. This paper will analyze three sources: an article written by Dov Cohen, titled “Culture, Social Organization, and Patterns of Violence,”on the trends of violence based on location, a Ted Talk given by Dan Gross, titled “Why Gun Violence Cannot become America’s New Normal,”on the topic of gun violence and how it affected his life as well a proposition to ending violence in the U.S, and an article, “Analyzing Available Data Could Help Improve Background Checks Involving Domestic Violence Records,” written by the U.S. Government of Accountability Office(GAO) which covers the process of background checks within the sales of firearms. These three sources will be evaluated on the basis that they evoke a strong argument with the use of ethos, pathos, and logos within their pieces.
School shootings, gang violence, drive by shootings, murder, and thousands of acts of violence are committed every day. Members of our society criticize their own people for this violence while they continue to sit back and do nothing about it. These acts of violence have many contributing factors. Violence in our country today is escalating because we don't control the distribution of the guns sold. There are not enough restrictions on guns sold legally. The illegal purchase of guns through the black market is out of control. There is not enough education on the usage and storage of guns.
There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. Around 60% of these crimes are gang related. In discussion of gun violence, a controversial issue is whether gun related crimes are blamed on the person who owned the gun or by the illegal gun purchase. While some people believe gun violence should be blamed on the people that cause the violence, others contend that gun violence should be blamed on the way people receive their gun. When I was younger and uninformed, I thought gun purchases are effective and legal. I failed to notice that guns the purchase of the gun itself is being conducted informally, which leads to people also trading their guns illegally. Between informal gun purchases and illegal gun trading, this also leads to gang related gun violence.
Gun violence is a topic that has been a very controversial topic all throughout the world since there have been a ridiculous amount of shooting tragedies. Through this article, a student from a high school in Maryland reached out to President Trump and his administration to voice her concerns about the topic. Although she is not the first to share her opinion aloud, her message especially stood out since she used a combination of strong effective words, and claims throughout her letter. This, then deeply impacts the US government since many will come to support the student’s viewpoints, pressuring the government to engage in some solutions.
Over the last years gun control has become a very widely debated topic. The city, county and state lawmakers seem to be having different stands about the public having easy access to guns. Adam Small states, “After centuries of relative obscurity, the Second Amendment has become the center of an intense academic and legal battle during the last twenty years” (1213). The supporters of gun control and its opponents both claim to have the best interest of this country’s citizens .However, there are private citizens who believe that there should be laws to limit the number of people who own a gun. Even though the United States has enacted laws for regulating firearms, the recent shootings at Aurora movie theatre and Sandy
People all across the world are debating about whether to require the start of reducing gun violence. Guns have always been a part of American culture, even before we became the America we know today. In colonial times and the days of the Wild West, guns were an essential part of survival. They were needed to kill animals for food and to protect against unwanted trespassers and predators. However, in these modern times, because we have conveniences such as Hannaford and organized police systems, guns have gone from tools of necessity to novelty toys. For the most part, people own guns in this century for sporting reasons or to protect their families and home from intrusion. The simplicity of a gun and the lack of effort it requires owning
Since the late 1980’s, gun violence has been growing into a national problem. Gun violence is quickly spreading across the nation and onto news broadcast stations. However, it has not been taken seriously until it did become a nationwide event. After a police officer knocks on your door to disclose the situation regarding your son or daughter was murdered by a gunshot wound, a mother grieves, and cries out,” Not my child!” Families of victims never want to expect to see gun violence overtake their family. Families demand answers and ask,” Why would they want to harm my child?” Over time, we have seen numerous victims, advocates, group leaders and survivors of anti-gun organizations attempt to raise awareness towards the issue of gun violence.
On April 20th, 1999, two shooters, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, entered Columbine High School and murdered thirteen people and wounded more than twenty others. In doing so the two teenagers not only hurt many families and left a community scarred forever, but they also changed the landscape of American politics, national attitudes towards gun control, and began a violent phenomenon, now known as school shootings, that would haunt America for years to come. Since that fateful day in 1999, school shootings have become common place in America. From 2013 to January of 2018, it is estimated that around “300 school shootings” have taken place in the United States (Scott par.1). This data does not include the shooting at Parkland High School, which took place on February 24th, 2018, or the shooting at Santa Fe High
Gun violence is a crucial predicament in North American society. The stringent fundamental laws put in place and enforced by the federal, provincial, and state governments of Canada and the United States of America are efficacious in dealing with fire arms and the violence that accompanies them. In essence the American system is flawed; hence the higher death rate due to gun violence in comparison with Canada. The American system is fallacious because of their adamant belief in the Second Amendment; which is not of cardinal significance in the 21st century America. The Canadian governments approach to gun crime reduction is moreover efficient; which is due to the total ban on owning and possession of handguns in the country. This paper
Gun violence is a problem in every nation. Where I came from gun violence is a major problem. I came from Afghanistan where events such as; people shooting each other, people shooting at a crowd and killing tens and hundreds of people happens quite usually. But one incident that stuck with me to this day is the suicide of a young boy near my middle school. When I was around 9 or 10 years old I remember the day one of my friend's relative's committed suicide using his father’s gun. It was the end of a school day, the street and the area in front of his house were packed with people and cars. The police car and the ambulance, both were parked in front of his house. The sound of people shouting, his mom and his sisters screaming, and the
In 2015, 13,367 people lost their lives due to gun violence according to Gun Violence Archive. The Archive also states that out of that number, 693 were children from ages 0-11. We can all agree that there is indeed a problem that we have to address. The solution to that problem, however, has been debated by many. I believe the solution to this problem exists in three parts: Mandatory training and licensing along with more heavily secure gun storage, stricter regulations on the purchasing of a firearm—disabilities and criminal records should be more deeply looked into before transaction—and finally, equipping teachers at highs schools with the right kind of weaponry to prevent mass shootings.
Another type of background check that needs to be added and included to every State standard background check is the No Fly List as well as violent repeat offenders and abusers. States need to be running their checks against the No Fly List and Homeland Security; those on the list should be denied the ability to get a gun. We want to stop terrorists, both domestic and foreign, from being able to walk into a store and purchase a gun with no background check. “Depending on one’s perspective, the divergence in states’ approaches to guns either means that some people… are facing dangers of gun violence that could be avoided by enactment of strong gun laws”, while others “are unnecessarily having their freedom and safety impaired by gun laws that only disarm law-abiding individuals” (Rostron, 2016, p. 356) . There are times when an innocent person’s name can appear on the list so we should be prepared with a legal path to clearing that person’s name and removing them from the list. This path should be swift and completed in a timely manner, but each individual should understand we take our safety at the highest regards so we must be thorough.
Gun violence has been a conspicuous problem in the US, especially in recent times. The problem appears to be unique to the U.S, perhaps due to the advocacy that exists for guns by the NRA (National Rifle Association), as well as its constitution that permits household gun ownership. Thus, guns have grown to become a part of U.S culture, and there is an ongoing debate about how ethical or appropriate its (guns) prevalence is. Some argue that guns are needed, since they enhance the ability of people to protect themselves, while others protest that guns are harmful to society. I for one, am a strong believer in the latter, and assert that gun violence is the highest cause of death under the age of 40 in America - basing my argument of factors, such as the pervasiveness of guns, mass shootings, and the intertwining relationship between gang violence and drug distribution.
Teenage gun violence is on the rise. Gun violence has become a major problem for America. We have more privately owned guns than any other country. This could be one of the reasons that guns are being used by teens, because of the access they have to guns. The availability of guns to our youth is making the world unsafe. Although lawmakers are working on gun control laws, I wonder is the problem too far gone.
Throughout the years, gun violence is increasing dramatically. Mass Shootings are becoming more frequent, suicides are now mostly caused by a gun to the head, and crimes are being involved with guns. Somehow minors and criminals are gaining firearms. The government isn’t telling us the real story. They claim that they have very strict laws, well it turns out they don’t. There are so many things that the government hides from the public’s eye. Criminals get their way (hiding from the government) and they gain access to guns of their choosing. From pistols to machine guns, to rocket launchers. In this essay, I will explain to you how criminals are getting their way, causing so much gun violence across the United States, and how the government is doing nothing about this.
