Left or right? Political beliefs in America tend to be sorted as leftist or rightist. This binary mentality puts limitations on non-binary issues such as healthcare. The lens which healthcare is viewed in the United States needs to be more of a panorama, considering all factors big and small. Healthcare systems are typically rated based upon three fundamental factors: access, cost, and quality. The fundamental differences in opinions of how the American healthcare system should run can all be tied back to how much each factor is valued to its corresponding party’s belief system. The mindset of Americans needs to be transformed in order to effectively create a reasonable plan, which works for the majority of its citizens. This is an issue …show more content…
The clinics have shaped me into the person I am today. I experienced the impact of the healthcare structure in America and its vital role that it plays in the lives of all types of Americans. I remember drawing at the “kids corner” at the Spina Bifida clinic and my blue crayon rolling off the table. Before I even processed that the crayon fell, a girl in a wheelchair started to make her way all the way around the table to pick up the crayon for me. I was blown away with the compassion this girl displayed even on a miserable day of testing. This simple act of kindness is my fondest memory from the clinic. As I became a teenager, we would play videogames together in the waiting area. The fact that these kids managed to withstand whatever life threw at them made me realize I could handle whatever test or procedure the doctors threw at me. I thought to myself, “Why am I the lucky one who is so fortunate to be able to walk?” With every step on my way to the nurse that had called my name, I felt more weight of another kid envying my ability to walk. I felt guilty as if I was the one responsible for their problems. It is this sense of guilt that has forever impacted the way I see the world; I am much more grateful for what I have. But this is only half of the story. Too often we forget that, unfortunately, millions of Americans face the issue of overpriced healthcare services. This is certainly a major social issue that needs to be

Someone who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy has weak muscles, but that also means they have slow reflexes and brittle bones. When my brother was about 16, he slipped in some water and didn’t catch himself and fell. The next morning, my parents took him to the ER to find out he had broken both of his legs and would have to undergo surgery. After his surgery, he was in a wheelchair for a few months so his legs would heal. That summer, my family took a trip to Huntington Beach and my brother could almost completely walk without the wheelchair by this time. The first day, my brother, my dad, and I were walking down the hall to our room and my dad was pushing the chair behind my brother so when his legs got tired he could sit. About ten steps down the hall, my brother fell and my dad rushed around to help him up. My

The biggest issue in America is not just hunger, education, and crime- but health care. Perhaps the cause of these other issues, health care is expensive and hard to access. The high cost is tolerated in the belief that more expensive health care leads to better care. This is not true, as studies show that 20% to 30% of patients are issued the wrong treatment or medicine. These medical errors have caused thousands of lives to be lost- at a higher cost. As more Americans are aware of our low ranking in worldwide health care- Japan, Sweden, and Canada making the top three-the need for a nationwide health care reform is much debated. Even with other great countries to mirror we are still hesitant in reforming health care to make it accessible to every American citizen. Although the United States guarantees it's citizens access to fire and police services, protection by military, national postal service, and education as well as many other free federal- and state-funded services they have yet to commit to ensuring them health care coverage.
Procedures also outline how to deal with disciplinary issues, allegations of abuse, managing risk, deal with grievance or death, respond to emergencies that we have in which supports us on how we work effectively and correctly which allows us to give the best level of care we can give to individuals.
Each state has their own policies for Medicaid eligibility, services and payments. Medicaid plans have three eligibility groups such as categorically needy, medically needy and special groups. Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a program that offers health insurance coverage for uninsured children under Medicaid. If Medicaid does not cover a service, the patient may be billed if the following conditions have been met such as the physician informed the patient before the service was performed that the procedure was not covered by Medicaid and if the patient has signed an Advance beneficiary Notice form. However, there are also conditions where the patient cannot be billed if necessary preauthorization was not obtained or service

Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, there has been a continuous debate about the effects it will have on the United States economy. Many people argue that expanding insurance coverage for all people will create crippling cost burdens for the economy and taxpayers. While others believe that the ACA will in fact give the economy a much-needed boost. In 2006 as a measure to improve overall healthcare, the state of Massachusetts implemented the Health Care Insurance Reform Act. This paper looks at the positive and negative effects of the Massachusetts Health Care Insurance Reform Act (MHRA). Using a literature review of public health studies ranging from 2009-2012, I argue that there are both positive and negative effects of the Massachusetts Health Care Insurance Reform. While the Massachusetts Reform increased health insurance coverage for all citizens and decreased the number of uninsured citizens accessing emergency rooms, it also did very little to decrease already existing racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities among minorities and whites in the state of Massachusetts. Understanding the Massachusetts Health Care Insurance Reform Act may help in the goal of trying to achieve near-universal healthcare. This paper provides an understanding of the missing pieces in the Massachusetts Health Care Insurance Reform Act and constitutes a starting place from which to understand the Affordable Care Act.
I have never really focused on the issues that our economy is facing; therefore, I find reading articles like these rather interesting. They provide me with material and questions I would not have looked up before. My favorite quote from the article was, “Monetary policy has been keeping the patient alive, creating the possibility of a lasting cure through fiscal and structural operations,” as stated by BoE Chief. I thought this line to be very funny and blunt. The comparison of the nation to a patient really put into perspective the how tragic our economic system is doing. Also, I have come to belief that people are okay with the monetary policy because it has been providing some relief to our problems, but people must find an actually solution,

Westmount Nursing Inc. is a for profit chain with seven different nursing homes. It has a grown from a small few bed facility to a facility with 4 different divisions that made to help make seniors more independent. The Westmount Nursing Homes were in search for a chief executive officer and president, which was filled by Shirley Carpenter. After Shirley Carpenter came on to the company, many changes were made and implemented. Some implementations were successfully, but she was also challenged with many problems with the Union Federation of Nurses and the Board of directors regarding wages and total quality management implementation. My recommendation would be for Shirley to stop the implementation of total quality management and focus on
America is without a question the leading country of medical and scientific advances. There always seem to be a new medical breakthrough every time you watch the news or read the paper, especially in the cure of certain diseases. However, the medical research requires an enormous amount of money. The U.S. spends the most money on health care yet many people, mainly the working class Americans are still without any type of health insurance and thus are more susceptible to health risks and problems. The concept of health insurance for Americans was formulated over a century ago. Most Americans obtain health insurance from
