For many of years, there have been immigrants from all over the country that come to America. Since 1865 to even today, immigrants come from different countries to the United States for many opportunities at a better life for their family and more jobs. But since then, a lot has changed now for the people that want to come to the states. There has been positive and negative changes for immigrants in America. They differ from the countries they migrate from, to the kinds of jobs they work, and the different laws that’s been passed from the 1800’s to today.
The difference between immigrants traveling to the United States in 1865 and now is that it’s easier to come then it was before. Today, if you have a relative that lives in the United States, you have a more likely chance to get passed. But it’s also harder because in 1865, immigrants had more of an opportunity because even though they didn’t have any skills or education, they were still able to get jobs. They mostly looked for agricultural jobs, working in the farm, or factory jobs that required an intense and expansive labor force. Now, immigrants are …show more content…

In my opinion, I believe that immigration should be legal for some cases and but also a more protected border line. There are good immigrants that want to come to America for a better life, then there’s the bad ones that come to attack. For example, the attackers that came from Afghanistan and attacked the twin towers on September 11, 2001. I also believe that legal immigrants should be given all the freedom of other citizens. If a legal immigrant has been living in the United States for 5-10, they should be able to become a citizen. This is a free country, people come here to live a better life for themselves and their family. Legal immigrants deserve citizenship because they’ve made a positive impact on the U.S, they do jobs that some Americans just won’t
