I thanked her for her time, and she asked me if she can ask me a couple of questions. I was thrilled and told her I would love that. She asked me, as a mother how do I balance career and home? How do I prioritize? And where do I see this certification class taking me? I shared that family is always priority and that as long as the decisions I make put my family first, everything always works itself out. Told her that the certification class has opened up my eyes in ways to improve myself, and would be open to any positions to help the company. Great assignment and conversation. Sara and I vowed to continue our new-found friendship.
How do I come off to the World?
Being asked to gather opinions from friends and colleagues on how I brand myself was interesting as I never took the time to analyze this myself. I was curious to ask people I know very well, and others I have been work acquaintances with for a short period of time now. One Minute Manager is a short story written by Kenneth Blanchard and Spencer Johnson. The story is about a young man who is in search of an effective manager because not only did he want to work for one but he is also wanted to become one. His search for this ideal manager took him to many places and made him interact with a lot of different individuals. He wasn’t pleased with what he encountered and he began to notice that most of the people he interviewed would fall into two categories: those who were interested in results and those were interested in people meaning their employees. He continued his search until he began to hear amazing stories about a manager that lived nearby. The young man met with this
Today in class Melinda Laprade came to discuss how our resume should be, and how we should prepare for an interview. Melinda Laprade gave us some helpful insight on how we would go about getting a job and they tools we can use. She went over what to wear and what not to wear to an interview. Also, how you to uphold yourself. A helpful tip that I will be using is creating a mock interview with a friend before the interview. Another one is getting to know the company beforehand so that you can know what they are looking for. I really enjoyed her presentation and there was a lot I didn’t know that she cover. I am glad that she came.

Stephanie picked up that I really did not want to do it because she knows how much I enjoy going out in the field. She asked me to do her this favor and help Ms. Williams out and I did. Stephanie asked me how the supervising time went and thanked me for helping out in a time of need. I expressed to her that I was proud of myself for taking responsibility for the entire visit and managing some quite difficult parents without incidence.
