Rhetoric could possibly be the most important concept integrated into public speaking. Whether if it is making a deal for a lower price on a car or trying to get out of a speeding ticket, the way we use tone of voice and expression can predict our future. So, with public speaking, if a point is needed or wanted to get across, it needs to be clear and comprehensible. Meaning, someone’s ideas shouldn’t only be understood by themselves alone. If a person uses certain concepts of rhetoric, they can do anything from getting twenty bucks from their parents, to inspiring a whole nation of people.
Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. I sat in my fourth grade classroom staring at the bookshelf when suddenly I caught a glimpse of a dark blue book with a heroic being on the front. I lifted the heavy book and began reading Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. As soon as I started I fell into this mythical world where gods, monsters, and heroes all existed. It was a rollercoaster through my emotions. The thrill. The suspense. The surprising new book had a grasp on me, to stop reading it would be difficult. I felt attached. As soon as I started, I finished. Devastated, my chase of this feeling has never stopped, no other book has given me the same fulfillment as Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. As a young reader I would love to find the same joy and thrill (as I did back

Tone, engages your audience in an inviting manner that makes them willing to hear your message. Therefore, tone, is everything when we interact with others. In our everyday lives, our tone shifts several times throughout our day. We speak to everyone, in different rhetorical situations in a certain kind of tone. You would not speak to your parents, grandparents, or even just your boss, the way that you would speak to your younger siblings, or perhaps, even your enemy.
