UCAS Personal Statement Final Draft.
Entering onto the SWAP Access to nursing course at the Motherwell campus has been a very exciting time for me. I was nervous at first as I have no background in nursing but I have I’ve found I have settled in very quickly and I’m finding the whole experience enjoyable and stimulating. I really like The Human Body and The Human Physiology classes. I really enjoy learning about the different parts of the body, how they work and how they affect us. I have always been very interested in mental health nursing and have always shown a fascination towards psychology and how the brain works and a keen interest in forensic science. I think I would be well suited to the fast pace turn around in the nursing environment

I’m reliable, honest and conscientious. I complete work that has been given to me and do not leave it for others to pick up. I put 100% effort into any task given to me. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and spending time with people, listening and demonstrating a genuine care and interest in their wants and needs.
I’m a member of the mental health charity organisation Mind but I am also an avid supporter of the British Heart Foundation. In 2015 my musical society held a fundraising concert in East Kilbride, as the fundraising committee member for the group it was my job to organise all the tickets, produce and design the programme for the events and decide on which songs we would be singing. I’m very pleased to say that our one-night concert raised a considerable amount of money for the charity. I have also run The Race for Life in support of cancer research and I was very proud of my final time for the 3k run.
I enjoy working as a team member but I’m also able to learn and perform to high standard by myself. I like to think myself a social and approachable person who is always looking for opportunities to build relationships. I feel comfortable when meeting new people and can easily adapt to new surroundings and
I really see myself as a humble guy, and an honest one. Some may even say I am brutally honest (at times). I'm great with communication, and I work well with others. I believe anything can be solved with teamwork, and I'm always willing to put in more effort to make any community a better one. I'm very easy to approach, and no player should have any issue coming to me with issues or just speaking with me in general. I have a fantastic memory, which goes great with planning things as well as remember past players and their past behavior.
I am a friendly and respectful person and enjoy interacting with new people. I believe that a good customer service is essential in competitive industries, like retail and I am devote to working within a team successfully. I have a proven high level of creativity, initiative and enjoy a new challenges in my way.
In the future, I plan to work for the NHS as a mental health nurse in order to better the health care and treatment for patients. I’ve always had a desire to help people whilst also tackling new learning opportunities and therefore I would be suited for this course as I thrive on being challenged and have the determination and commitment that it takes to succeed and start a career in mental health nursing. I am really eager to learn the ropes of the job and really feel that I have what it takes to be a good university student. I believe that mental health nursing is a career that requires an individual to have emotional stability, empathy and commitment among many other skills that I feel I am able to demonstrate well.
I am a dedicated and hard worker that works to serve the mission of the organization I serve in the most efficient manner possible. I am eager to work and encourage others in order to create a positive working
My friends and colleagues would describe me as charismatic, nurturing, and with a strong desire to learn, all
* I consider myself to have great communication skills in my work place, I am always understanding of others, I have a positive approach to life.
My decision to pursue a career in nursing began in 1981, while I was living in Peru. I was accepted into the Medical School of National San Marcos University. This program taught me the basics in medicine and patient care. I attended this University for almost eight years, nearly completing my studies. Peru 's government structure had changed dramatically, causing a decline in entire country's finances, and I found it necessary to find a full-time job immediately to help support my family. I accepted a job as a legislative secretary to the National Congress of Peru, working for several congressmen for over nine years. In 1996, I moved to the United States and continued my studies as a Surgical Care Assistant at Memorial Hospital in Colorado
The scientific and academic side of nursing is as engaging to me as the caregiving duties of the profession. I particularly enjoyed my Level 3 in Health and Social Care as I particularly enjoy the applied dimensions of the health sciences. Indeed, one of the aspects of studying nursing that appeals to me in particular is the balance between theoretical learning and its practical application in a healthcare setting that it provides. I have sought to further my scientific body of knowledge through taking a university-level course through Child Nursing.
When I am working in a group I liven the atmosphere and can motivate others to do the best they can. For example on my trip to Iqaluit in 2014 with my choir (OCC), I was able to work with children from three schools and teach them how to properly sing. I was appointed team leader for this project. Another example of my collaboration skills could be seen in my work as an apprenticeship student in a Musical Theatre March break camp. My role as a leader was to guide the other kids in activities and creating a show with sections of plays, turning it all into a skit performance that we did for the parents at the end of the week. This year I will be going back to that same camp as Senior apprenticeship student. My integrity is shown in my ability to stand for what I believe in and speaking for what is right. This trait can make me stubborn sometimes. I also endeavour to have a positive attitude and outlook on life. I have close, meaningful and usually lasting relationships with people and I am very easily excited. An example of this is when one of my best friends had me guess a gift she was giving, and to throw me off, suggested it was a toaster. I got super excited, but it wasn’t actually a toaster, so she was a little peeved from my reaction. I also maintain PI’s, which stands for Positivity Initiative: something a friend had me try, to see that there is positivity in everything. The goal is to list
I am always willing to learn different aspect of the job, which in turn makes me a better-rounded individual. I always believe that knowledge is power and what you learn will only help you to function better at your job. When I am at work my job is always first and foremost in my mind. Part of my work ethic also comes from me being a team player. I also show that I am willing to always assist wherever I can, so that our members can get the exceptional service that they deserve. I know that many of my co-workers can depend on me, and feel confident that when they approach me they will always be given the right
As a new graduate entering the nursing profession, I am hoping to further my skill set and nursing knowledge by working in a specialized nursing setting following graduation with my associate’s degree in nursing. While gaining knowledge in the clinical setting my first year after graduation, I will also be gaining knowledge in the classroom as I work to complete my bachelor’s degree through the Hickory Collaborative RIBN (Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses) Program at Lenoir-Rhyne University. I hope that this combination of clinical experience and advanced nursing education will enable me to excel at this profession as I assist my patients in achieving optimal health outcomes best suited to their needs. Clinically, my heart lies in
My parents have both suffered from diabetes mellitus type 2 for more than 8years now and I'm really thankful to God that it is controlled for both of them. My dad was diagnosed later than my mom in November 2008. He came to pick me from school after finals for my diploma nursing course and I told him he had lost a lot of weight, "many people have told me so" he said reluctantly. I told him I wouldn't go home before we went to the hospital for a general checkup, wasn't easy convincing him but he accepted finally. At the hospital an RBS read HI, so he was admitted for overnight monitoring, after that moment, he still never took condition any serious.
These characteristics are present at work and school when I am attending to the needs and concerns of others. It is an incredible feeling helping others. I especially experienced this working with special needs children and their parents. As a team, we exert tremendous efforts to improve the social and academic developmental needs of their children with autism. I feel like I have been blessed with patience and the innate ability to enhance the educational experience of others. People that I work with have told me that my personality is very friendly and genuinely caring. They also decided that I convey my teaching, listening, and communicating abilities in both a professional and personal manner. I think that my personality is a great attribute for helping other people, and in fact it solidifies what I want to do as a career.
I wish to study mental health nursing at your University to develop the knowledge, skills, and values required to meet the mental health needs of a diverse population. Being originally from Nigeria, were mental health issue is a stigma no one wants to be associated with it. My life changed when my wife became sick this led to a lot of complications arising from the illness she became depressed and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. Being her carer and support at that time, I finally realized I wanted to dedicate the rest of my time to learn about the human mind. Study how to support people of all ages affected by a mental condition to aspire to an active and meaningful life. I feel that becoming a registered nurse in this field will be the right place for me to be in three years. I have since then, done a lot of research, attend seminars about mental health and learned about ways of communicating in challenging circumstances and the lack of support people with a mental health condition are given even in the media. I am aware Mental health nursing is time and emotionally demanding but also a very rewarding profession with long hours of training in hospitals and study
