Most countries affected by the civil wars have been cut off from any regional connections therefore they weren’t able to attract many of their regular customers. The UAE has taken that to their advantage by reeling in the customers who would normally shop in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen and give them the opportunity to shop in places in the UAE instead of in a dangerous country. This has led to a 10% rise in spending by shoppers affected by the Arab Spring. The United Arab Emirates is known as a modern country with a stable government system that the public seems to respect. Governments from different countries such as Syria have shut down Internet and power connections to avoid the world to see the troublesome county. Because of these barricades, countries such as the United States and England have been keeping a close eye, especially since they cannot export and import products between countries. Perhaps the Middle East would’ve been better off without the Arab Spring.

Saudi Arabia earns around $360bn annually net exports; this is at $115 per barrel (The Economist,2014) This will be half if the price remains at $60 per barrel. The budget is now at the red line, and this is a catastrophe, since it will be decades to revive from such economic mess. In the short run, there will be no big deal, the country may go deep in the pocket to finance its budget, while in the medium term, it will hurt the economy, leading to less expenditures. This may not go well with the outlook of the citizens. Long term effect may be taxation, and less expenditure. The expenditure may be cut down as it was in mid 1980s, and this will be a draconian austerity to face. The exorbitant political patronage as it has been in the Sunni world will face rough times to prop up the likes of Egypt. The only item that still holds them together in this medieval regime may be the social spending, but still there is terrorist attacks and Yemen invasion, reported by Forbes (2015). The current reserves may go down by close or more than $200bn in the year 2018, and this will cause capital flight. The current trap is hard and dealing with Russia alone to cut on the output alone will bring more shale production in the years to come.

Saudi is walking on thin ice! That was my first thought when I heard about the new vision for Saudi, the regional media had covered it differently like never before especially when the newly assigned deputy to the crown prince had to announce it himself which was a first since mostly all of the royal family members always shy away from being on the spot lights for conservative reasons. Furthermore, releasing such massive transformation program was somewhat another way of admitting the shortcomings of previous plans that the government had spent billions of dollars on implementing such rigid and fragile programs. Although those headlines were indirect confessions of how insufficiently the Royal family used to govern the country for
