Half-arsed, boring, stupid, whatever you labelled last weekend’s event, with numbers down, I think most will agree there was plenty of room for improvement! Heading into the weekend deep down I knew, like many, that the ‘International SuperSprint’ format was not going to produce the best racing. I accepted that, but still purchased tickets and went along for my annual Supercars trip which generally becomes a highlight of my year. This time I don’t feel like it will be the highlight past years became. For a start the four 100km sprint races were all about qualifying and getting the car off the line, then it was a matter of watching race cars circulate for 35 laps. This in itself is a very bad thing! Motorsport often has the stereotype of …show more content…
The off-track package is just as important as on the on-track stuff, and a big part of the off-track package is merchandise. The merchandise at this year’s event was shocking. Four team’s set-up shop with very limited stock. Triple Eight and HRT combined to have a decent display and storefront while GRM had a few fold out tables piled with shirts and PRA seemingly left most of their stock behind. Merchandise is a highlight of the event for the diehard fans who want to show off their support for their drivers and teams but unfortunately, most were left disappointed. I purposely packed only one additional shirt for Friday because I planned on buying some shirts, but there were none! Posters were also a rarity at this year’s event, with anyone wanting signatures ending up with 10 or so event promo posters signed by different drivers because the lack of posters and merchandise meant that’s all there was to sign. Young fans (and older ones) love collecting the new posters each year and the only way that is going to happen this year is a bit of searching on Ebay. Again, merchandise is part of the Supercars product and why teams aren’t required to take their merch with them to every round is something that needs to be looked out. Yes, there is a cost, but surely it’s something that could be subsidised by Supercars and/or the promoters? The merchandise alley has also degraded in quality with outside vendors lacking in numbers and the addition of
The intricacies that are involved in turning a regular car into a “Street Racer” are many; and racers pour their souls into these magnificent machines. After seeing “the Fast and the Furious” many people have or wanted to become involved in street racing. They do not realize that this is a sport that takes knowledge, hard work, and nerve. Many of these racers have spent their lives under a car, learning the trade and improving upon it. As I have learned, this is not just a hobby; it is a way of life.

We finally got three practice laps so we could feel what the track was like to ride. Next we immediately started trials meaning we raced to get the best 14 riders to continue to the main event that night. I was in two classes The 250 and the 450 so I had two chances to make the main event. 250 trials was the most difficult because there were 28 riders, and only 14 could go on. Now nobody really tried on trials it was just a chance to be good enough to make it to the next round. I was 7th out of the 28 so I ended up getting 7th gate pick for the main event. The 450 class had its pros and cons. There were usually less riders, but I rode a 250, a bike almost half the size, but racing against harder competition can only make your better. There were only 20 of us in the 450 trials, and I gave to the best of my ability to get the best gate pick I could get and ended up being
You're driving down the straight stretch at 200 mph, slowing down for one of the three left hand turns; you’re surrounded by other cars all doing the same things, all trying to achieve the same goal: to be the first racer to cross the checkered line. The sport, is called NASCAR, it attracts hundreds of thousands of people to watch each and every race. NASCAR was started by back country bootleggers in Georgia; in late 1947, a meeting was held to discuss the future of stock car racing, and NASCAR was conceived. It takes extreme skill to race in the NASCAR world; it is a crazy fast paced sport that has an incredible, humble beginning.
The film “Phar Lap” directed by Simon Wincer and starring Tom Burlinson portrays the story of the popular and successful Australian racehorse, Phar Lap, almost completely accurately. The aspects of time period, the public’s love for Phar Lap and relationships were successfully portrayed highly authentically, although events shown at the 1930 Melbourne Cup differed slightly to reality. Due to the nature of films, movies that document historical stories are often not completely true, however; this film does a successful job of portraying a story that is not only factually precise but is also entertaining. The time period was very accurately displayed in the film.
Unfortunately nothing in this world is perfect, and there are still emerging opportunities available in different aspects for the organization. Even though the consumer market for the event is loyal and profitable, there is a different approach the Indy 500 can take to capture the most profitable
The history of open-wheel racing in the United States is a story of incredible success and terrible failure. The story can be seen to have started in 1978 with the formation of the Championship Auto Racing Team or CART. The league was founded by several racing teams who were dissatisfied with the way open-wheel racing was being handled. CART experienced tremendous success for a number of years and represented the most popular form of motor sports in the United States. The wheels on the success of CART racing began to come off when Anton “Tony” George, the president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway began to express concerns with how CART was operating. George complained that the CART league held too many races in foreign countries. He also expressed concern that CART was focusing on road races instead of oval tracks. He also felt that CART focused on too heavily on promoting foreign drivers. As a result of his dissatisfaction with CART, George began the Indy
Promotions such as giveaways, ticket discounts, raffles, etc. are a good way to attract fans. I would also highlight these promotions on Facebook and Twitter for all of my followers to see. Using the media is also a good use of traditional marketing because it is free. The media outlets can inform fans and potential fans about the upcoming events. This is a free and easy way for the program to spread information to the public.
This prior race day, IMS roughly had 300,000 people on race day. Typically, general admission is 40 dollars, (300,000 * 40) this has already brought in 12 million, which would be used to pay bills and other things that go out to the economy. Vendors hurry
Like Skills Fest, the Are You Better Than an Angels Player? Contest has the opportunity to have sponsors of the equipment being used. Specifically, for the pitching contest, there is the opportunity to get a sponsor of both the ball being used and the radar used to track contestants pitch speeds. And for the hitting contest, there is the opportunity to get a sponsor of the ball being used, the bat being used, and the exit velocity measurement system (e.g. HitTrax). There is also the opportunity to be a sponsor of the cages used during both contests. In addition to being able to have fans test out your equipment, all equipment sponsors will receive stationary signage that will be placed around the
Coordination with local TV and radio should be used to raise awareness and crowds. The dealer network should also be used by the Posse Rides to solve logistical problems such as the T-shirts fiasco. Given that Posse Rides have different routes, most dealers will be able to participate over time.
I could feel the cold brisk air brushing up against my skin as I ventured through the darkness in this vacant parking lot on a dreary Sunday night in November. I could see a car in the distance and began to approach it. The car appeared to be an old rusted out vehicle with extremely tinted windows that were dark like death. As I looked inside the vehicle I noticed that the car was as clean as a crystal. Not a speck of dust could be found on the interior and the floor mats were completely spotless. It was as if the vehicle had never been driven before. I then put my hand on the door and proceeded to step inside of the vehicle. As I did so I felt a sensation through my whole body that made me tingle. It was an unwelcoming sensation as if I was entering a whole new world. As I sat down there's was a smell, a sheer clean smell similar to that of a fresh load of laundry. Goosebumps came about all over my body as adrenaline rushed through my veins. I put my hands on the steering wheel and my mind took me into another dimension. Taking a glance in the rearview mirror I could see a mysterious person approaching the vehicle. As I examined the person I came to the conclusion that this must be the owner of the vehicle. I noticed they were dressed in all black and carrying what seemed to be a grocery bag of some sort. In panic, I got out of the car and looked at what appeared to be a male figure. The man was very masculine and tall. His mere presence was enough to strike fear into
So for years now, the car industry has been evolving. While it is getting bigger and bigger, it is also branching off to many other sub-industries. Among those industries, one of the most popular is the racing one. It has been evolving since it has started. And to say that it is very popular in this generation would be a huge understatement. Even while it is an industry of its own (Racing industry), it still has many different branches. For instance, when we talk about racing, we can have an endless discussion about how many different kinds there are. On the legal side of racing, we have organized activities such as NASCAR racing events, but if we want to talk about illegal racing ways, we can talk about street racing or drag racing on local streets. This however, will be discussed in the main part of this paper. So before getting into the meat of this paper – which is the driving question (“Why is racing important in the car industry?”) – We need to answer why talking about his is important to know about. So, why is this topic crucial to know about? Well for starters, racing has become one of the most popular activates that most teenage boys and professionals partake in. other than that, racing brings one of the biggest revenues economically to the table. Now this means better improvements in the car industry as a whole. While we are talking about improvements to the car industry, we can certainly talk about how sport and
