2. Discussion 2.1 Actors, Interests and Strategies Used The revitalization project came to fruition when the owner of the Rams, Stan Kroenke, purchased 60 acres of land just north of the Hollywood Park site (Farmer and Vincent). This action spurred immediate speculation: What was the purpose of buying this land? Will it be used as a possible stadium site? Training facility for the Rams? Then, it was later revealed that Kroenke had partnered up with Stockbridge Capital Group, owners of the 238-acre Hollywood Park site that was adjacent to his purchased 60-acre land (Farmer and Vincent). The two real estate moguls combined their respective acres of land into one enormous, vacant land mass of property, making it the perfect location to build infrastructure that was capable of producing a generous amount of income — an exceptional return investment. Together, they joined efforts through the Hollywood Park Land Co (HPLC) venture to redevelop Hollywood Park by adding a sports and entertainment district with an 80,000-seat stadium and 6,000-seat performance venue to a previously approved development plan consisting of retail, office, hotel and residential space (Hollywood). Many were excited about the news announcement; for instance, the Rams team looked forward to playing football in a brand new stadium. It was widely well-known that the team was unhappy with the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis (representative city prior to relocation) since it was immensely outdated by current
Mark Lauber, a Wharton School of Business graduate, founded Branchburg Sports Complex (BSC) in 2008 after selling his and his father’s previous venture to another company. As a lover of sports and family entertainment destinations such as Disney Land, Mark envisioned bringing the “wow-factor” that these world renowned destinations possess to the realm of sports centers. BSC is a 78,000 square foot facility consisting of four indoor turf fields, basketball courts, training center, multi-level PlayMaze, arcade with redemption center, batting cages, and a three-floor 9,000 square foot interactive fantasy-themed laser tag arena. Advertising “fun and excitement for the whole family,” Mark truly provides activities for all demographics. He
As the years rolled on, additional restrooms and office facilities were constructed, along with the outdoor theater being upgraded and the parking lot paved. All these projects were
Then came the concern that the universities built stadiums that were too big. Many feared that there would not be enough people to fill the seats on game day. A majority of the stadiums were built too large for the time period. The teams had to grow their fan basis by winning important games in order to get more people through the gates. Also, many stadiums were built to hold one big game and crowd a year. But, would this one game bring enough money in to pay off the millions of dollars that were spent to build the stadium? The large stadiums eventually paid off when the fan base became larger, but it took years for that to happen. Now, there are so many people that want to come to the games that there is simply not enough room for everyone.
Improvement plan must be in place in order to decrease the likelihood of a reoccurrence of the outcome of the Mr. B scenario. The model for Improvement gives us the foundation and the frame work for doing improvement work. It is structured around several key components. There are 3 questions that are presented on this model. First question is what is your aim? We have also ask ourselves how good we want to be and by when we will like to achieve it. Second question is how would you know a change is an improvement? Which gets to measurements, we want to look at process and outcome measures. The third question is what changes can we put in place to achieve the aim? What change we can put into place that you can tract with data and you can match back up against your aim (Lloyd, 2009).
During the 1960s, while the United States was going through a civil infrastructure revolution, Texas lead the way in innovative ways; creating modern marvels that would go onto to become “Wonders of the World.” Once such building in particular lead a technical revolution, here in the city of Houston. Home to several professional sports team, and later a registered as a national land mark, the Texas created Houston Astrodome was the first in what would become multi-purposed indoor sports arenas.
In the project overview they state that “Temple will not buy any homes to make way for this project,” ensuring that all land being used to build the stadium is owned by Temple. From looking at the illustrations they have on the project overview, the stadium is not too big, the overall renovation makes the area look more appealing to the eye, and more businesses and jobs will be created. But, with all of these positives come negatives, when the stadium is built, how will this affect the residents property taxes and rent, and what happens when soon they can’t afford those taxes? This stadium may look and sound great, but the residents who have lived in the community for years may soon be forced out due to this increase of property taxes and rent which is not
With the NFL officially coming back to Los Angeles next season, the league and two teams are certainly excited over the developments. Unfortunately, the fate of three teams hung in the balance with this move. For the once-again-L.A. Rams, their future in the Golden State is secure. But for the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders, some details still remain in the air. If the dust settles as expected, the Chargers will join the Rams in the dual stadium at the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season. However, if the tide turns the Raiders could find themselves moving from the Bay Area.
However, they are also famed for having one of the best NFL game experiences. Visiting team’s fans have stated that they feel extremely welcomed regardless of who they are cheering for. Sean Rowland, a writer for Stadium Journey, wrote about a time he went to a home Eagles game against the New Orleans Saints. Rowland was cheering for the Saints at the game and was never verbally abused. He got a few friendly heckles, but no issues (Rowland, S, n.d.). Like any other NFL game, if people remain respectful and calm, there will be no problems. The atmosphere of the stadium remains welcoming to all unless it is a game day against any of the three division
The Chargers did not have a very strong fanbase in San Diego as often they actually had a negative advantage while playing at home. "It was strange to see the chargers actually have a negative home-field advantage while playing at Qualcomm. Most of the time, half the stadium would be filled with fans of the opposing team"(John Buhler, "5 Reasons the Chargers relocating to Los Angeles is the Right Move",6) Now that the team is located in a new city, they will rebuild with a more loyal and dedicated fanbase. Early signs show that this will be the case as season tickets for the 2017-2018 season have already sold out. The Chargers also charged premium prices for the tickets, the ticket ranged from prices of $3,750 to less than $1,000. Albeit the Chargers did suffer from having a negative home field advantage during games to say their fanbase was not loyal or nonexistent would be ludicrous. San Diego is home to countless diehard Chargers fans who were beyond distraught and angry when they caught wind that their beloved Chargers were leaving for Los Angeles. "Others cheered as they burned memorabilia in open revolt". This quote is in reference to fans' reactions to the relocation. Although they cheered as they burnt memorabilia, this shows one thing, passion. Extreme passion and love for a team. For someone to go as far as burn memorabilia for a team that shows how dedicated they were to that team and how much they cared. Put simply, if their fanbase was nonexistent or not loyal they would not have cared that the organization
We appreciate the hard work that you have performed for DAMC, but as you know I Vicky Munoz mentioned to you that during your maternity leave we had to re-do 13 cases of which I am attaching the list of all the patient’s that treatment was re-done by another Dr. Causing to the company a tremendous lost for this reason non negligence by any doctor will be cover economically nor any other way. At a recent management meeting Charlie Musselman, the president of the company, expressed optimism at winning the contract and revealed that the company could net as much as $2 million on the project. He also said that if they are successful, the prospects for future projects are quite good since there are quite a few major stadiums in Canada that will need replacing in the next 25 years.
In 2008, the new stadium project finally found some luck. A piece of land that grabbed the attention of the 49ers organization was conveniently located adjacent to their training facilities in Santa Clara, California. After two years of presenting Stadium Proposals, completing multiple environmental impact reports, and negotiating terms, the voters of Santa Clara approved the stadium deal. On June 8th, 2010, it was then York realized they had found the new site for the new state-of-art “Levi’s Stadium”. In these terms, the city of Santa Clara stipulated
