To be honest with you, I never really thought that chiropractors did much except pop your back and send you on your way. My thoughts on this changed dramatically when I met Dr. Chad Schnarr of Schnarr Chiropractic and Total Body Wellness in Tullahoma, Tennessee. I’ve been working for Dr. Chad for a year now and I have learned so much about his profession and how what he does on a daily basis is much more than just “popping your back.” For starters, with new patients like the one we have here in the photo, Dr. Chad begins his evaluation by developing x-rays to get an updated image of the patient’s problematic area. He then reads the scans and pinpoints what area of the body he will focus on. Even when treating previous patients, it’s important to get new scans and information regarding the patient’s situation instead of using old films and notes. This makes his treatment more direct to what the patient needs now as conditions in the spine change often. …show more content…
Schnarr then detects what part of the spine is causing the patient pain and what needs to be moved to get everything back to normal. “It has to all work together in harmony, if one key is off balance the whole song gets messed up,” he says. On the patient’s back you can see a diagnosis outcome chart. This chart is filled with boxes of different diagnoses the patient may have. Dr. Chad checks the boxes he believes could be an issue, makes note of the possible problem, and then rates how severe it could be in each area. To finalize his evaluation, he performs a routine adjustment for what he sees as an issue now, and schedules the patient to come in soon to see if any changes have
According to the Occupational outlook Handbook, Chiropractors have to have a Dr. Of Chiropractic degree, which requires at least four years of schooling. A class of each of arts, sciences, physics, chemistry and biology. Not only does it require education, but it also requires strength and strategy. It requires strength to pop joints in and out of place. Hoosier Health Plus states “There is no bone snapping or warrior-style pulling heads off spinal columns... Adjustments, unlike “knuckle cracking” or having your friend stomp on you while you lay on the carpet, are applied specifically to improve the motion of your joints and limit the small dysfunctions that over time can lead to arthritis. Most people after an adjustment describe the feeling as being “lighter”, having greater ease in moving the body, and being able to stand up taller.” People pop and crack at their knuckles, backs, hips and many other parts of their body’s all day. When they go to the chiropractor, they then get the “lighter” feeling like Hoosier explained. This occurs because chiropractors have certain ways to adjust your body without causing it to eventually turn into

A chiropractor is a health care professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders that appear to be in a person's back. Like most jobs there is Pros and Cons when trying to get into any career. Some Pros on the Chiropractic Career is that Becoming a chiropractor is less arduous than becoming a physician. Although most chiropractors have a bachelor’s degree, it is not required. Three years of undergraduate college preparation are required, however, and chiropractic training takes an additional four years. Chiropractors usually perform patient care in an office and do not normally make hospital visits. Some chiropractors use procedures such as massage therapy, rehabilitative exercise, and ultrasound in addition to spinal adjustments and manipulation. They keep regular business hours, although some are available for emergency patient care. Although they may work as much as 50 hours a week, most chiropractors work less than that.
Chiropractors trust the tools they have made by thrusting high-velocity pressure into the spine area to create overall improved functionality and reduced discomfort (Yeomans, Steven G. 1999). A common tool used by most chiropractors for spinal pain, neck pain, and headaches, is called the Activator Adjusting Instrument. This device allows patients to receive a mild impulse of impact in various spots of the spine (that were previously diagnosed) to ensure proper movement of the spinal cord and/or joints. This tool is making chiropractors lives easier because

My back is sore. I'm waiting in the chiropractor's waiting room. Today during third period my back all of a sudden started hurting excruciatingly bad, I felt like an old man with constant aching and pain in my lower back off to the left side of the spine. My cousin Truman told me about chiropractors a little while back on a hike, he told me how they crack your back or neck or anywhere but make you feel like a different man as you walk out. Your joints and bones he told me feel light and carefree after the adjustment.
Chiropractic has been practiced for thousands of years but when it finally became an acknowledged profession, many people became interested in how and why it could benefit their health. It is said that chiropractic treatment can fix many types of spine-related injuries or pain. That includes leg, knee and ankle, back and neck, arms, wrist, shoulder and elbow, and different pre-diagnosed dysfunctions such as arthritis, chronic injuries, and joint discomfort ("BENEFITS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE.). With 24 different vertebrae in the human spine, a chiropractor must focus in on the independent vertebrae that control specific nerves in the nervous system
I have been impacted both directly and indirectly by chiropractic and chiropractors in several aspects. Although I was not on the table myself until earlier this year, I could see relief and comfort in the faces of family members and friends after receiving adjustment. I approached my chiropractor with the goal to correct my posture. Throughout my visits with Dr. Natalie, my posture did improve, but my confidence and curiosity for the profession equally benefitted as well. Chiropractic became more than an adjustment every couple of weeks, it became my newest fascination. Through my university I was able to schedule shadowing experiences with several chiropractors in the area. This gave me the opportunity to get a feel for the profession as a whole as there is a lot that happens outside of the treatment room. The doctors I encountered were invaluable resources
A chiropractor can treat a variety of conditions including back pain, neck pain and chronic headaches. They also treat a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system involving ligaments, joints and muscles. Since many of these conditions also impact the nervous system, treatment of them also alleviates referred pain and dysfunction.
Today Jeff Varner from the St. Cloud Medical Group talked with our class. He began by telling us about the education piece in order to become a chiropractor. First, you must obtain a 4 year undergrad degree. You can major in anything he said, but he suggests that we have either a major or minor that involves a science (chemistry, biology, or physics). Then you must go on for another 4 years of chiropractic school where you will become a doctor of chiropractic. He said when he first began working he made $22,000 however, as he worked more and more his salary bumped up to $60,000 that next year. And the following year he was making over $100,000. With time comes a raise and the more experience you have at that profession the more you will make. The next
Many people visit a chiropractor when they have pain in their back or neck, or have been referred by their doctor for help after a sports injury or automobile accident. However, there are many more reasons to see a chiropractor for good, overall health.
‘Chiropractic (Greek kheir, hand, and praktikos, practitioner) is defined as the science of treating human ailments by adjustment of the spine’ Bradbury, P. (1957). It is grounded in the principle that the
In the summer of seventh grade, I was provided a job to mow, pull weeds, and provide other yard care work. This job was for a well known gentleman in my town. His house was massive and beautiful and he owned quite a bit of land. As I continued to talk to him, I found out that he was a chiropractor and he also owned and sold real estate. Right when I got home I began researching chiropractors and what they do and I was fascinated even though I had never been to one before. After awhile, I began playing football and realized that my hips and back were becoming oddly sore. Therefore I asked my parents what I should do about the situation. After doing what I was told and still not feeling much better, they suggested a chiropractic appointment.
