Teens end up getting bad grades in their beginning classes because of lack of sleep. School start times should be no earlier than 8:00 because not enough sleep can lead to negative impacts at school, it leaves teens sleep deprived, and it can lead to brain damage. Still, young people who don't get enough sleep get negatively affected at school. According to Sleep Foundation, 15% of teenagers fall asleep during school. Teachers don't want their kids not listening or much worse, asleep. On the site: “Sleep Becomes a Nightmare” it talks about a teenager who stayed awake for 11 days. It says he became, “groggy, forgetful, and clumsy.” Students do have some of those symptoms during the day. World of Labor says that when teens don't get enough sleep their achievements, grades, and test scores go down. Not only will all of this affect them in the moment but it will also affect them in the long run. This means that they could eventually get behind in that subject or subjects. It might not affect them right away but once again it may affect them long term by over months of not getting enough sleep students may not grow correctly. Another piece from “Sleep Becomes a Nightmare is”, not enough sleep can cause, “permanent cellular damage and even the death of neurons in the brain.” If that happens then they may not ever be able to think right or other side effects may occur.
