“Hey Wes, did you remember to get some more dropcloth and paints?” Wes groaned, knowing that if he admitted to forgetting the supplies he would’ve disappointed Tina, his wife. “Well, it’s not as if I forgot, rather, I was… distracted? Yeah! EMT’s were called to the store to resuscitate a rat that had a heart attack. It was no ordinary rat, actually; it was an emotional support rat. Tragic, really.” Wes said rather unconvincingly. Tina chuckled, amused by Wes’s clumsy attempt to cover himself. “Yes, and I’m sure that Ratatouille was there too, making soup.” Tina paused, looked at Wes’s embarrassed face, and let him off the hook. “Look, it’s fine. We could always get them later.” Wes breathed a sigh of relief, and kissed his …show more content…
He stood out, with his white cane and dark glasses. He could feel the stares as he walked along the street, the hairs on his neck standing straight. Slowly, Wes accepted his new reality, and eventually came to the conclusion that he could still do what he loved, but that he had to work harder than before. Wes asked his wife to bring him the paints and a canvas, while he sat with an oil paintbrush in his hand that he had chosen by feeling the bristles along the tip. Tina, who was hoping for this day to come, had already set the paints in a specific order; with the primary colors first, and secondary colors next, from light to dark. She took his hand and led him, having him touch the braille on the lid of the paints and to try to match the names of colors with the bumps. An hour had passed and, frustrated, Wes flung himself into a chair and wept. "I… I just can't do it. All the time I had spent perfecting my skills and techniques... and now I have to start all over again? And even worse, I can never see you again... Your curly blonde hair, the way your nose slightly crinkled when you laughed, the dimples on your face when you smiled..." Wes sniffled, burying his face in his hands, a tear running down his rough face. Tina bent down, and interlocked her fingers with his. "No matter what happens, Wes, I will never give up on you. I believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to. Do you remember when we first met?" Wes thought about it for a moment, and
“Yeah, sure.” She called the waitress over and straightened herself in her seat. “Could we get two glühweins, please?”
Being a troubled young man from the slums of Baltimore, the other Wes Moore grew and lived in what was around him. When you grow up in the negativity surrounding you, the average person will become a product of their environment or surroundings. Trouble and habit become all you know and once you’re indulged in that kind of lifestyle it becomes harder and harder to stray away from it. The other Wes’ life ended up negatively because of the poor decisions he made as well as the negative environment he grew up in.
Wes tries again to complete his education after being dismissed from the juvenile facility. Nevertheless, the situation that he is living in from family problems and being a father at a young age did not help him and make his education seem impossible to reach. Also,
“Please don't give up on me, I know I'm not as good as Chandi and Gertie, but I'm trying very hard.” Josie begged.
Browned and lightly charred on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, a perfectly grilled steak has the power to make grown men cry. But on the contrary a dry, overcooked steak can ruin someone’s day. With so many ways to get it wrong, it's no wonder grilling a steak can be so hard. There are many types of steak cuts, meaning the part of the cow that the steak actually comes from. Steakhouses use cuts that come from the Longissimus dorsi and the Psoas major. The Longissimus dorsi are a pair of long, tender muscles that run down either side of the spine of the steer, outside the ribs, all the way from the neck to the hip (“High End Steaks”).There are four types of steaks that should be considered when buying steaks. The ribeye, coming from the rib area of the cow, the strip, cut from the rear end of the cow, the tenderloin, cut from the psoas muscle, and the T-bone, which is a piece of tenderloin and strip separated by a T-bone. These four types of steaks are they types of steaks that will usually be cooked at a restaurant; they use these because they are the best tasting.
Upon seeing V.Q. acting funny Lovienthal and Steaks looked at each other, the two of them sharing the same expression, which suggested, already? They both knew from that point forward, they were going to be on babysitting duty.
Billy took the south side of the bridge, Ryan on the north. Sending out rounds as fast as he could, Billy began firing into the horde of zombies that were now beginning to overcrowd the south side escarpment. “Do you see them?” he shouted. “No!” replied his brother between the alternating sounds of the shotgun fire.
In The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith argues that people only agree to exchanges that are mutually beneficial. Free exchanges are necessary for a society to promote liberty. However, many industries force exchanges upon consumers. Forced exchanges will remain to be a problem in our ever-growing society as personal greed continues to grow. At what point, does one feel guilty for there ever lasting harm on our planet. There are multiple ways to make a living without having to harm the environment and force exchanges. More specifically I will discuss slaughterhouse workers, restaurant workers and the beef industry. The food industry exploits workers and continues to get away with it. The agriculture industry is the biggest single polluter in the world and people have no idea. It is safe to say, one of the worst culprit of forced exchanges is the American food industry.
Meat, everyone loves meat. Well, except for vegetarians. I for one am a meat lover; if you asked me to choose between a healthy salad and an oily heart attack burger, I would go for the burger. I eat fast food once in a while, and I do like the burgers. At times, I would wonder where the meat comes from since it tastes different from burgers that come from actual restaurants. Many people other than me eat fast food daily and have become a habit for them. In addition, due to the rise in costumers, fast food industries opened many more restaurants, which led to a higher demand of meat. Due to this high demand for meat, meat industries are starting to use various ways to produce meat quickly. However, speeding up the processes can cause meat

Learning to properly cook steak is a great way to get a good job in the future or make more friends because of your good cooking.
The meat industry today is not what it was nearly a century ago. While improvements are thought to have been made, an ever changing society has brought upon new problems that have been piled on to the previously existing ones. While these problems are not like those found in The Jungle, they do parallel how by exposing what is going on in the meat industry; new regulations would be the answer to the noted problems. The increased demand for meat has made it a rushed mutated production instead of a means to raise livestock for consumers. Taking into consideration the demand for cheap meat that will be used for in quick and high demanded products such as frozen and fast food, this demand of meat has greatly skyrocketed. Animals whose sole
Lab-grown meat, otherwise known as synthetic meat, or cultured meat is made “using muscle tissue from animal stem cells in a lab rather than harvesting from livestock” (Hultin). Consuming lab-grown meat will be healthier than traditional meats. Vitamins and minerals could be enhanced in lab-grown meats, the unhealthy components such as saturated fat could be decreased in lab-grown meats, and diseases and pathogens that come from animals could be eliminated in lab-grown meats (Hultin). By removing the unhealthy elements and keeping the beneficial nutrients of lab-grown meats will help to sustain Earth’s growing population if there was an issue with food security. Also, producing lab-grown meats will positively impact the environment. As stated by Ginger Hultin, a Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and
The cattle industry produces vast amounts of strain in the environment. It is energy inefficient, pollutes water, occupies many acres of land, and deteriorates the health of the people who abuse its consumption. The government subsidizes this industry. Therefore, the price paid for meat doesn’t reflect the environmental hazards involved in the process. In order to protect our health and the health of the environment we should pay close attention to our food choices and make sure we don’t support industries that degrade it.
At times when we are in a hurry, hamburgers are one of the easiest foods to eat while on the go. No matter what time it is whether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner we grab a hamburger and might throw in some fries and a soda to go with it. Many restaurants are known to make their hamburgers in a specific way. Preparation differs from restaurant to restaurant. But what really makes a hamburger taste so delicious? Depending where you go they will taste different but they are all structured the same. It consists of a bun, a ground meat patty and often ingredients such as cheese, onion slices, lettuce and other condiments.
