Subaru is a Japanese manufacturer that began making airplanes during World War II. After the war, the company united with other manufactures and began making other motorized transportation including scooters and automobiles. When the first automobile was manufactured in 1953 it was given a name that Kenji Kita, CEO had "cherished" and he called the vehicle a Subaru. Subaru is the Japanese name of the Pleiades constellation of stars resembling the children of the Greek Mythological god, Atlas. The daughters were seven sisters, which includes one star that is invisible to the naked eye, making up the six stars on the Subaru logo. (Subaru Global History). From the beginning, love and family have been part of the Subaru Company and the company continues to advertise their love of their product with their recent slogan that began in 2010, “L.O.V.E. She says, “You can check on them. You can worry about them. You can even choose a car for them.” Without delay, the advertisement sends the viewer into the emotion of fear, terror, and dismay; when a mother is driving along with her small child, and another car comes out of nowhere and slams into the side of the Subaru Forester. The viewers heart sinks and there is silence. The mother asks the child if she is okay and the child answers “yes.” Now, the viewer is relieved to know that the mother and child are safe and unharmed. Then the commercial cuts to a scene of the mother hugging her daughter in front of the now damaged automobile. The narrators voice changes and is now the voice is of a male and is deep and trustworthy; like that of a father. The voice says “Love. It’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.” The slogan brings the viewer back to the importance of love, while connecting their product to the emotion of
