Anaheim schools have a long ways to become the schools to got to but that is almost the majority of all the other schools in this country
The Struggles of Students and the Answer to Fix Their Problems
As students of Anaheim wake up an hour or two before to get ready go to school at 7:49 am some are walking in half asleep, some are walking in late, and some are getting to class and immediately going to sleep again. Success won’t be with them in the future if they keep this up. In order to increase student success at Anaheim schools, we need a longer, more productive and immersed school day and most likely a later start time due to the lack of sleep some students get. They had negative views of effort, believing that having to work hard at something was a sign of low ability”. A growth mindset on the other hand would believe that there was a solution to what they were failing at, like how again Gladwell says, “We praised some of them for intelligence: ‘Wow.. that’s a really good score. You must be smart at this.’ We commended others for their effort. ‘Wow...that’s a really good score. You must have worked hard’”(25). This way students that actually work hard feel like they are being noticed and not just the ones that seem smart. If students at Anaheim schools were noticed for their hard work they would want to try more. Learning would be improved greatly because the kids who try to look smart would start trying to work hard.
There is at least one student at an Anaheim school right now that just doesn't have anything to look forward to, they come to school just to come to school, and has no idea what their future will look like. To fix this problem in Anaheim schools we must ask students what they like, what they do for fun, what they do when they have nothing else to do, and if it benefits in an educational way then programs should be implemented to help those students.
