Synthesizing Research Articles Across the country, states, school districts, schools, and communities there is concern to find a way for improving teaching and learning and are discussing, evaluating, and working on this with the aid of researchers (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper, 2015). Teachers concerned they do not have the skills to teach content in our elementary schools citing self-efficacy issues, as well as knowledge concerns in the high schools (Mark et al., 2012; Peppers, 2015) are a part of the discourse. The impact of school leadership Leadership in some cases are not ready to relinquish its total control over its school by enabling school structures while other leaders understand the greater implications for not supporting the concept (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper, 2015). Some leaders want the outcome of stronger teachers and greater student performance without the empowerment of its staff (Pepper, 2015). Teachers believe overwhelmingly that the position leadership takes will make a difference in the success of teacher effectiveness and student performance (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper, 2015). Not all leadership is in one accord with what components of the concept of professional learning communities should suffice (Gray et al., 2015; Peppers, 2015).
The Results These studies included a quantitative, qualitative and a mixed methods research type (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper, 2015). The methodologies were just as varied including face to face open ended interviews, clinical interviews, observations, and online surveys (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper, 2015). Participants ranged from a sample of eight high school teachers, 89 elementary instructors, to a large metropolitan school district where 67 schools (35 elementary, 13 middle, and 9 high school) where 74 percent of 3700 teachers and 190 principals returned invitations to participate in the study (Gray, 2015; Mark et al., 2012; Pepper,
